Community Calendar for Week of April 1, 2021

THURSDAYS
Hope for Addiction meetings are held every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Mount Vernon Baptist Church, 2150 Mount Vernon Road, Hurricane.

APRIL 2

There will be Good Friday services at 7 p.m. at River Ridge Church Teays Valley, 1 Saturn Way, Hurricane.
The First Baptist Church of Hurricane will be holding online only Good Friday services featuring an encore presentation of “Bow the Knee” starting at 6:30 p.m. For more information, check out First Baptist Church on Facebook.

APRIL 3
There will be a community hike at Ridenour Lake in Nitro from 9 to 11 a.m. The Walking Group will be meeting at the parking lot below Shelter #4.
The Annual Adult Easter Egg Hunt will be held at Gritt’s Farm in Buffalo. Times are noon, 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Tickets are $50 and include event entry, egg hunt, meal and drink ticket, raffle ticket, and sweet treats to bring home. To register, go to tickets.grittsfarm.com
Thoz Guyz will be performing at 7 p.m. at Riverside Cafe, 3680 Winfield Road, Winfield.
The Winfield Lions Club will hold their annual Easter egg hunt at 9 a.m. at the field behind the Winfield Speedway.
There will be an Easter Egg Hunt from 11 a.m. to noon at Valley Park in Hurricane.
There will be a Mad Hatter themed tea party for children from noon to 2 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane. Tickets are $20 for children and $10 for adults.
The Twisted Twigs Trail Race half, 10k and 5k will start at 8 a.m. at Meeks Mountain Trails, Hurricane City Park. For more information, go to https://www.meeksmountaintrails.org
The Honorable Order of the Blue Goose WV will be holding an Adult Easter Egg hunt for 7 to 9 p.m. at the Foam Garage, 2716 Putnam Avenue, Hurricane. The cost is $15 for insurance agents; $20 for members; and $25 for non-members. RSVP by calling 304-859-1543.

APRIL 4
Grace Life Church, 93 Joy Lane, Culloden, will be holding Resurrection Revolution Easter service at 9 a.m.
The Fraziers Bottom Church of God, 19064 Winfield Road, Fraziers Bottom, will be holding sunrise services at 7:30 a.m.
The Church in the Depot, Teays Valley Road, Scott Depot, will be holding Easter services starting at 10:30 a.m.
Forrest Burdette Memorial United Methodist Church, 2848 Putnam Avenue, Hurricane, will be holding Easter Services at 8:30, 10, and 11:30 a.m. Sign up through the church’s Facebook page.
First Baptist Church, Main Street, Hurricane, will be holding traditional Easter worship services at 8:50 a.m. and contemporary worship at 11 a.m. There will be music, drama, and a message of hope.
River Ridge Church will be holding Easter at the Park at 11 a.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane.
Cross of Grace Lutheran Church, 30 Grace Drive, Hurricane, will be holding Easter services at 10 a.m.

APRIL 5
There will be an American Red Cross Blood Drive from 1 to 6 p.m. at Winfield Nazarene Church, 10822 Winfield Road, Winfield.

APRIL 7 – 11
The West Virginia Kids’ Consignment Sale will be held at Valley Park in Hurricane. Times are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

APRIL 8
There will be a basics of sign language class at 7 p.m. hosted by the Network of Women at Area 34, 971 Route 34, Teays Valley. Finger food buffet at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $10 for the buffet, but the class is free.

APRIL 9
Mount Vernon Baptist Church and Hope for Addiction WV in Hurricane will be holding a Night of Worship at 6:30 p.m. at Mount Vernon Baptist. It will be a night of music, testimonies, and food.

APRIL 10
The 7th Annual “Take A Walk On The Wild Side” Nature Hikes will be held at the St. Albans City Park from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
There will be an outdoor flea market from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Sweet Buy and Bye Shoppe, Route 62, Buffalo.

APRIL 11
The West Virginia Masters Bowling tournament will start at 11 a.m. at Town N Country Lanes, 409 1st Avenue S, Nitro. For more information, call (304) 727-2259.
The Bunny Beauties Easter Pageant will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. at Ridenour Park in Nitro.
Special guest speaker Dr. Mark S. Young, author of “One True Story, One True God: What the Bible is All About,” will be speaking at 8:50 and 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Hurricane, Main Street, Hurricane.

APRIL 17
There will be a spring craft fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Winfield Mobile Home Village Drive, Winfield.
WV CARES Family Fun Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hurricane City Park. 5K Trail run at 10 a.m.; family walk/run at noon; activities from noon to 2 p.m. Register online at wvcaresforautism.org
There will be a free basic vehicle maintenance class at 2 p.m. at Ferrell Automotive, 501 Midland Trail, Hurricane.
There will be a puppy play date from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wingate by Wyndham Hotel, 417 Hurricane Creek Road. Take a pup for a walk, give some cuddles, or adopt your new best friend.
