Community Calendar for Week of April 15, 2021

THURSDAYS
Hope for Addiction meetings are held every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Mount Vernon Baptist Church, 2150 Mount Vernon Road, Hurricane.

APRIL 17
There will be a spring craft fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Winfield Mobile Home Village Drive, Winfield.
Country Cove Estates in Scott Depot will be holding a neighborhood yard sale starting at 8 a.m.
River Cities Bully Buddies will be holding a meet and greet at 1 p.m. at Petco in Liberty Square, Teays Valley.
There will be a free beginner karate family workshop at 11 a.m. at Pinnacle Karate Center, 3544 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane.
WV CARES Family Fun Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hurricane City Park. 5K Trail run at 10 a.m.; family walk/run at noon; activities from noon to 2 p.m. Register online at wvcaresforautism.org
There will be a clothing giveaway from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 2440 US Route 60, Hurricane.
There will be a free basic vehicle maintenance class at 2 p.m. at Ferrell Automotive, 501 Midland Trail, Hurricane.
There will be a puppy play date from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wingate by Wyndham Hotel, 417 Hurricane Creek Road. Take a pup for a walk, give some cuddles, or adopt your new best friend.

APRIL 18 – 21
A revival meeting will be held at the Faith Missionary Baptist Church in St. Albans beginning Sunday and continuing through Wednesday. The public is invited to Sunday services at 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM, and Monday through Wednesday at 7:00 PM. The church is located at 701 West MacCorkle Ave. one mile west of Winfield Road.

APRIL 18
Rivers to Ridges Mountain Bike Race & Ride will start at 1 p.m. at the Ridenour Lake in Nitro. 5k singletrack MBT and 5k trail run. To sign up, go to runsignup.com/Race/WV/Nitro/RiverstoRidges RaceandRide

STARTING APRIL 19
There will be a five-week beginner yoga class at 6:30 p.m. at Trinity Yoga, 3465 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane.

APRIL 20
There will be a diabetes support group at 3 p.m. at Marshall Health, 300 Corporate Center Drive, Scott Depot. RSVP by calling 304-691-1660.
There will be a special 80’s themed night at FLY Aerial Yoga and Fitness, 3057 Mount Vernon Road, Scott Depot, from 6 to 10:30 p.m. For more information, email [email protected]

APRIL 21
Create clay creations with pressed flowers for Earth Day at 5 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane. Tickets are $15 per person.

APRIL 22
There will be Earth Day themed crafts for kids at 5 p.m. at the Commons Marketplace at Valley Park in Hurricane.

APRIL 23 – 24
The Gathering Spring Vintage Market will be held at the West Virginia Pumpkin Park in Milton. Hours are noon until 7 p.m. on the 23rd and 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on the 24th. Admission is $5.
The Town of Eleanor is hosting a spring clean up from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eleanor residents can bring unwanted items and other junk to the Eleanor Pool parking lot to be disposed of for free. For more information, call 304-586-2319.

APRIL 23
West Virginia Home Mission, 1128 Benamati Avenue, Nitro, will be holding a “Grab and Go” lunch for Nitro First Responders from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
There will be a food pantry at 11 a.m. at the Hometown Senior Center. One box per household.
There will be a lemon-themed craft workshop for ladies at 7 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane. Crafts range from $5 to $25. RSVP by going to sokaiclubhouse.com/product/ladies-lemon-craft-night-april-23-2021-7pm

APRIL 24
The Elk River Boots and Saddle Club Kickin’ N’ Spring Expo and Open House will be held from 9 a.m. unti 10 p.m. at the Winfield Riding Club. Admission is $5.
Mountain Artist Democracy Entertainment Club, featuring B3ti3, Abandon the Ship, and Hangman’s Ghost, will be performing at 8 p.m. at Riverside Cafe, 3680 Winfield Road, Winfield.
There will be a youth fishing derby from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane. Check in from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at the large shelter. Cost is $15 per person.

APRIL 30 – MAY 1
There will be a tent revival at Teays Valley Baptist Church in Hurricane. Times are 5 to 8:30 p.m. on Fridays and 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Saturdays.
