Community Calendar for Week of December 9

MONDAY – FRIDAY THROUGH CHRISTMAS
A Christmas Village Model Train Layout is open to the public from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. at Bailey Hardwoods located at 10802 Winfield Road, Winfield. For reservations for large groups, call 304-936-1348.

NOW – DECEMBER 20
The West Virginia State Farm Museum will display two-million lights this year to celebrate the Christmas season from 6-9 p.m. each evening. The museum is located just north of Point Pleasant.

DECEMBER 10-11

DECEMBER 10, 17
There will be a Bible art journaling class from 10 a.m. to noon at My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane. The cost per session is $10.

DECEMBER 10
Riverside Cafe, 3680 Winfield Road, Winfield, will be hosting a benefit toy drive at 8 p.m. for foster children with Necco. There will be music by Alien Super Jesus, Hurl Brickbat, and Pinky’s Brains.
REMAX Clarity WV, 3520 Teays Valley Road, Ste. 3, Hurricane, will be hosting Business Before Breakfast from 7:30 to 9 a.m. RSVP by calling the Chamber of Commerce at 304-757-6510.
There will be a Christmas open house from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Commons Marketplace, Valley Park, Hurricane.
There will be a toddler foam dance party from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Foam Garage, 2716 Putnam Avenue, Hurricane. The cost is $8 per child.

DECEMBER 11
The annual Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department Christmas Parade will start at 7 p.m. Lineup starts at 6:30 p.m.
There will be a Christmas goodie sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Iron Church, 120 Blackwood Avenue, Nitro.
The Bridge of Faith Fellowship, 329 Dairy Road, Poca (formerly Scarlett Oaks Golf Club) will be holding Breakfast with Santa and a Christmas craft show from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Andy Leftwich, Grammy Award winning fiddle player, will be performing at Teays Valley Baptist Church in Hurricane at 7 p.m. This event is free.
The Community Autism Resources & Education Systems (CARES) will hold an inaugural winter gala from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Valley Park Conference Center in Hurricane. For more information and to register, go to wvcares.ticketleap.com/cares-winter-gala
The First Baptist Church of Hurricane, 2635 Main Street, will be giving away Food Fair gift cards from 8 a.m. to noon, while supplies last.
The City of Hurricane’s Christmas Parade will be at 4 p.m.
My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane, will be holding a Christmas ornament making class at 4 p.m. after the parade.

DECEMBER 12
Morgan’s Kitchen Old-Time Christmas will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. at Morgan’s Kitchen, Route 60, Saint Albans.
The King’s Kids Cantata will be performing “It Wasn’t the Hilton, You Know” at 11 a.m. at Rock Branch Independent Church, 133 Cross Lanes Drive, Nitro.
The West Virginia Treble Makers will be performing at 6 p.m. at Winfield Nazarene Church, 10822 Winfield Road.
Church at the Depot, Teays Valley Road, Scott Depot, will be hosting “Making Space,” a grief workshop.
The First Baptist Church of Hurricane, 2635 Main Street, will be holding a Christmas cantata called “run to the Hope” at 2:30 and 6:30 p.m.

DECEMBER 13 – 14
Santa Claus will be riding on a fire truck to see the good little boys and girls of Bancroft and Black Betsy on Monday, and Hometown and Red House on Tuesday. Start time is 6 p.m.

The Macholah Ballet will be performing The Nativity Ballet from 7 to 8 p.m. at King’s River Ministries, 777 Mallory Lane N, St. Albans.
Mountain State Christian School, 1948 Martin Lane, Culloden, will be hosting a play called “The Living Nativity” at 7 p.m.

DECEMBER 18
The Loan Oak Church of God Mission, 1303 McLane Pike, Red House, will be holding a Christmas play at 7 p.m.
There will be cocoa with Santa from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bancroft Park gazebo.
There will be a Christmas parade along Route 817 in Winfield. Line up at 5 p.m.; parade at 6 p.m.
