Community Calendar for Week of January 20

TUESDAYS NOW – MAY 24
There will be a free community Bible Study on Tuesdays from 9 to 10 a.m. and Bible art journaling from 10 a.m. to noon at My messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane.

TUESDAYS IN JANUARY
There will be a Dancing Through the Decades class from 8 to 9 p.m. at Lee’s Studio of Dance, 8325 Winfield Road, Building D, Winfield.

WEDNESDAYS NOW – MAY 25
There will be workshops every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane. Create seasonal decore, wreaths, signs, paint pouring, crochet, cards, jewelry, and more.

THURSDAYS NOW – MAY 19
There will be home school arts and crafts classes from 1 to 2 p.m. at My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane. The cost is $5 per participant.

FRIDAYS NOW – MAY 20
There will be crafts for toddlers from 10 a.m. to noon at My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane. The cost is $5.
There will be Friday Crafternoon classes for children from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane. Ages 4 and up. The cost is $5-10 per participant.

JANUARY 21
The Nitro First Responders Appreciation Luncheon will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at WV Home Mission, 1128 Benamatti Avenue, Nitro.
The Putnam County Chamber of Commerce will be hosting Toast! at Area 34’s Drip Coffee, 971 West Virginia Route 34, Teays Valley. To make reservations, call 304-757-6510.

JANUARY 22
There will be a self-defense class for ages 11 and up at 2 p.m. at Shaolin Do Martial Arts, 705 1st Avenue S, Nitro. The cost is $10 per person.
There will be a free karate beginner family workshop for ages 5 and up at Pinnacle Karate Center, 3544 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane.

JANUARY 24
There will be a healthy cooking class at 5:30 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane. The dish will be caprese chicken with asparagus. To register, send an email to [email protected]

STARTING JANUARY 25
The Hurricane Community Chorus will be meeting on Tuesday nights at the Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church, 2848 Putnam Avenue, Hurricane, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Come by on January 25 and sing without an obligation to join.

JANUARY 25
There will be a ribbon cutting for the National Youth Advocate Program at 12086 Winfield Road, Winfield, from 4 to 7 p.m.

JANUARY 26
A new children’s program, Spark, will be held at Winfield United Methodist Church, 20 Radwin Drive, Winfield. The program is open to grades Pre-K through 5th, and will meet on Wednesdays at 6 p.m.

JANUARY 27
Square Dance Classes will be held at the Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church at 2848 Putnam Avenue, Hurricane. Classes are every Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM.

JANUARY 30
Cavalry Baptist Church, 3653 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane, will be hosting a food pantry from 8:30 to 11 a.m.

FEBRUARY 3
There will be a Four Chaplains ceremony hosted by the American Legion Post 187 at 6 p.m. at the Winfield Presbyterian Church, Ferry Street.

FEBRUARY 5

Emotion in Motion Week One will start at 10 a.m. at Grace Life Church, 93 Joy Lane, Culloden. The topic will be about dealing with emotions.

FEBRUARY 11
The Putnam County Chamber of Commerce will be holding Business Before Business from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at the Holiday Inn Express, 941 State Route 34, Hurricane. To make reservations, call 304-757-6510.
