Community Calendar for Week of April 14

MONDAYS
There is a free Zumba class at Valley Park in Hurricane starting at 5:30 p.m.

TUESDAYS NOW – MAY 24
There will be a free community Bible Study on Tuesdays from 9 to 10 a.m. and Bible art journaling from 10 a.m. to noon at My messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane.

WEDNESDAYS NOW – MAY 25
There will be workshops every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane. Create seasonal decore, wreaths, signs, paint pouring, crochet, cards, jewelry, and more.

THURSDAYS NOW – MAY 19
There will be home school arts and crafts classes from 1 to 2 p.m. at My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane. The cost is $5 per participant.

FRIDAYS NOW – MAY 20
There will be crafts for toddlers from 10 a.m. to noon at My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane. The cost is $5.
There will be Friday Crafternoon classes for children from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane. Ages 4 and up. The cost is $5-10 per participant.

NOW – APRIL 15
Red House Bible Church, 51 Warner Lane, Red House, will be holding a special Easter presentation called “Journey to the Cross” from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m.

APRIL 15 – 16
Homemade Baked Goods will be sold at the Sweet Buy & Bye Shoppe, Buffalo, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.

APRIL 15
Freedom’s Promise Ministries, 19966 Winfield Road, Fraziers Bottom, will be hosting a special Good Friday service starting at 7 p.m. about the last hours of Christ before the crucifixion.
There will be a Good Friday Easter Egg Hunt from 5 to 8 p.m. at Camp Appalachia, 62 Camp Appalachia Way, Scott Depot.
There will be a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. at River Ridge Church, 1 Saturn Way, Hurricane.

APRIL 16
Mt. Union Church’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt and Breakfast will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church located at 19268 Jerry’s Run Road, Pliny.
There will be a spring festival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Bridge Church, 279 Dairy Road, Poca. Car show from 10 a.m. to noon; cornhole at noon; craft fair; games; and more.
The Poca High Softball Festival and car/truck show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Bridge Church (formerly Scarlet Oaks Golf Course) in Poca.

Eleanor’s Easter Egg Hunt and Pancake Breakfast will be held from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the Eleanor Town Park behind the Eleanor Fire Department.
The 2022 Miss Hurricane Independence Day Pageant and children’s pageants will start at 7 p.m. at the National Guard in Red House.
The Winfield United Methodist Church, 20 Radwin Drive, will be holding a free community breakfast from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.
The Winfield Nazarene Church, 10822 Winfield Road, Winfield, will be holding an Easter Eggstravaganza from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Teays Valley Presbyterian Church, 5339 Teays Valley Road, Scott Depot, will be holding an Easter egg hunt starting at 10 a.m.
The City of Hurricane is hosting an Easter egg hunt at Valley Park in Hurricane at 11 a.m.
Registration for the Golden Egg Fun Run/Walk will start at 10:30 a.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane. The walk begins at 11:30 a.m.
Hurricane First Church of the Nazarene, located at 358 US Route 60, Hurricane, will host a Rise Up with Jesus Easter Event for families from 3 to 5 p.m.

APRIL 17
The Pulse Church, 5368 State Route 34, Winfield, will be holding Easter Sunday services starting at 10:30 a.m.
First Baptist Church, Main Stret, Hurricane, will be holding Easter services. Traditional service at 8:50 a.m.; Sunday school at 10 a.m.; contemporary service at 11 a.m.

APRIL 18
West Virginia American Water will be hosting story time and crafts at 10 a.m. at the Putnam County Library in Teays Valley.

APRIL 19
Creating PoetTree: Using Old Books for New Rhymes will be held at 10:30 p.m. at the Hurricane Branch Library. This program is for adults.

APRIL 20
Health Rocks! – a series in which children can learn about living a healthy lifestyle – will take place at the Eleanor Library at 3:30 p.m.
There will be a Prenda educational system information session at 6 p.m. at the Holiday Inn, 941 West Virginia Route 34, Hurricane. This session is for people living in the Teays Valley, St. Albans, and Dunbar areas.
There will be a Mad Hatter Tea Party for boys and girls at 2 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane. Call to order tickets: 681-233-1400.

APRIL 21
Bernard Di Gregorio, Principal Viola of West Virginia Symphony and Violist of the Montclaire String Quartet, and Dr. Júlio Ribeiro Alves, Professor at Marshall University, will be performing at 7:30 p.m. at the Davis Fine Arts Center, West Virginia State University, Institute. The admission is free.
Facing Hunger Foodbank will be hosting a mobile food distribution from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Buffalo United Methodist Church. Registration is at 10 a.m.
There will be a discussion about keeping storm water clean at 10 a.m. at the Eleanor Library.

APRIL 22 – 23
There will be a vintage market and spring fling from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Saving Vintage, 401 Midland Trail, Hurricane.

APRIL 23
There will be a +FUSION Youth Rally at 6:30 p.m. at Faith Christian Fellowship, 54 Krystal Lane, Buffalo.
The West Virginia Food Truck Festival will be held form noon to 5 p.m. at the Eleanor Park (Putnam County Fairgrounds).
Elk River Boots and Saddle Club will be hosting their 6th Annual Kickin’ N Spring at the Winfield Riding Club facility starting at 10 a.m.
There will be a gospel sing at 6 p.m. at the Poplar Fork Independent Church of God, 353 Poplar Fork Road, Scott Depot.
The Food Dude presents: Healthy Earth, Healthy You! from 11 a.m. to noon at the Putnam County Library in Teays Valley. Plant seeds and make seed bombs.
The 4th Annual SpectRUN & AU-SOME Family Fun Day, hosted by Community Autism Resources & Education Systems, will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hurricane City Park. 5K/10K trail race at 10 a.m.; family walk/run at 12:30 p.m.
