Community Calendar for Week of April 28

MONDAYS
There is a free Zumba class at Valley Park in Hurricane starting at 5:30 p.m.

TUESDAYS NOW – MAY 24
There will be a free community Bible Study on Tuesdays from 9 to 10 a.m. and Bible art journaling from 10 a.m. to noon at My messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane.

WEDNESDAYS NOW – MAY 25
There will be workshops every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane. Create seasonal decore, wreaths, signs, paint pouring, crochet, cards, jewelry, and more.

THURSDAYS NOW – MAY 19
There will be home school arts and crafts classes from 1 to 2 p.m. at My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane. The cost is $5 per participant.

FRIDAYS NOW – MAY 20
There will be crafts for toddlers from 10 a.m. to noon at My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane. The cost is $5.
There will be Friday Crafternoon classes for children from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane. Ages 4 and up. The cost is $5-10 per participant.

APRIL 28
There will be a fundraiser for the Winfield Marching Band at Husson’s Pizza in Teays Valley from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
There will be a seminiar on “The Lake of Caregiving: Swim, Don’t Sink” at 5:30 p.m. at the Putnam County Library in Teays Valley.

APRIL 29 – 30

APRIL 30
The West Virginia Symphony Orchestra Season Finale will start at 7:30 p.m. at the Maier Foundation Performance Hall at the Clay Center in Charleston. For more information, call (304) 561-3570 or go to https://tickets.theclaycenter.org
Stinkfest will be held at the Wild Ramp, 555 14th Street W, Huntington, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This day-long festival will feature ramp dishes from The Wild Ramp Harvest Kitchen as well as other local food businesses.
The Women’s Club of Dunbar will be holding a craft/vendor show and hot dog sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the club house located at 323 14th Street, Dunbar.
The Kanawha River Bass regular season tournament will start at 6 a.m. at the Nitro Boat Ramp.
There will be a multi-family rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 246 Shawnee Estates, Winfield.
The 2022 Kickoff Cash Days Drag Race will start at 4 p.m. at the back of the Liberty Square plaza in Teays Valley across from Big Lots. Visit the Kanawha Valley No Prep RC Drag Racing group on Facebook.
Fox Jeepers WV will be holding a meet and greet event at noon at Barnyard BBQ, 1101 Hospital Drive, Hurricane.
RoseWood will be hosting a lunchtime jam session at 11 a.m. at Drip’s Cafe on Main Street, Hurricane.

MAY 1
Grace Life Church, 93 Joy Lane, Culloden, will be hosting a series on spiritual warfare at 10 a.m. Coffee bar at 9 a.m.
There will be a handgun safety/concealed permit course starting at 9 a.m. at Armatura Consulting, 212 Carrier Way, Scott Depot. The class is $80. To register, call 304-741-9632.

MAY 2
There will be a seminar called “Funding Options and Resources for Senior Care” at 5:30 p.m. at the Putnam County Main Library in Teays Valley.

MAY 3
The Winfield Lions Club will hold their monthly business meeting at 7 p.m. at the clubhouse at 4 2nd Street S, Winfield.

MAY 4
Health Rocks, a series that teaches kids about living a healthy lifestyle, will be held from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Eleanor Library.

MAY 5
There will be a free estate planning workshop at 5:30 p.m. at the Putnam County Main Library in Teays Valley.

MAY 6
Mountain State Christian School, 1948 Martin Lane, Culloden, will be hosting a murder mystery play at 7 p.m. The cost is $15 for adults and $10 for children.

MAY 7
The Spring Steam and Gas Show will be held at the West Virginia State Farm Museum, 1458 Fairground Road, Point Pleasant. There will be a tractor pull at 1 p.m.

There will be a rummage sale at Winfield High School from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Boy Scout Troop 36 is hosting a Yard and Hotdog sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Timothy Episcopal Church at 3434 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane.
Endless Pawsabilities, LLC, 3572 Hurricane Creek Road, will be holding their first annual customer appreciation crawfish boil from 1 to 8 p.m.
The Main Street Spring Festival will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. in Hurricane.

MAY 12 – 14
The Eleanor Town Wide Yard Sale will be held throughout Eleanor.

MAY 12
There will be a seminar called “Taking the Madness Out of Medicare” at 5:30 p.m. at the Putnam County Main Library in Teays Valley.
