Community Calendar for Week of May 5

MONDAYS
There is a free Zumba class at Valley Park in Hurricane starting at 5:30 p.m.

TUESDAYS NOW – MAY 24
There will be a free community Bible Study on Tuesdays from 9 to 10 a.m. and Bible art journaling from 10 a.m. to noon at My messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane.

WEDNESDAYS NOW – MAY 25
There will be workshops every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane. Create seasonal decore, wreaths, signs, paint pouring, crochet, cards, jewelry, and more.

THURSDAYS NOW – MAY 19
There will be home school arts and crafts classes from 1 to 2 p.m. at My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane. The cost is $5 per participant.

FRIDAYS NOW – MAY 20
There will be crafts for toddlers from 10 a.m. to noon at My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane. The cost is $5.
There will be Friday Crafternoon classes for children from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane. Ages 4 and up. The cost is $5-10 per participant.

MAY 6 – 7
The Winfield Baptist Church, 12902 Winfield Road, Winfield, will be holding their annual yard sale from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.

MAY 6
The Buffalo Library book club will be discussing Nine Lives by Danielle Steele at 5 p.m.
Off the Hook Xtreme Fishing Lake, 3380 Scott Depot Road, Scott Depot, will be holding a grand opening starting at 7 a.m.
Mountain State Christian School, 1948 Martin Lane, Culloden, will be hosting a murder mystery play at 7 p.m. The cost is $15 for adults and $10 for children.

MAY 7
The Spring Steam and Gas Show will be held at the West Virginia State Farm Museum, 1458 Fairground Road, Point Pleasant. There will be a tractor pull at 1 p.m.
The Heritage Farm Museum and Village, 3300 Harvey Road, Huntington, will be holding a spring festival from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Boy Scout Troop 36 is hosting a Yard and Hotdog sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Timothy Episcopal Church at 3434 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane.
Endless Pawsabilities, LLC, 3572 Hurricane Creek Road, will be holding their first annual customer appreciation crawfish boil from 1 to 8 p.m.
The Main Street Spring Festival will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. in Hurricane.

MAY 9
There will be a foster care information session at 10 a.m. at the Putnam County Main Library in Teays Valley.

MAY 11
The WV Army National Guard in Eleanor will be holding an open house from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Learn about some of the awesome jobs and equipment the National Guard has to offer.
Putnam County Pedalers will be meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Eleanor Pool parking lot. There will be two seven-mile bike courses through the park and around Eleanor.

MAY 12 – 14
The Eleanor Town Wide Yard Sale will be held throughout Eleanor.

There will be a seminar called “Taking the Madness Out of Medicare” at 5:30 p.m. at the Putnam County Main Library in Teays Valley.
There will be a foster care information session at 10 a.m. at the Hurricane Library.

MAY 13
Emi Lee will be performing at 6 p.m. at the Barnyard BBQ on Hospital Drive in Hurricane.
The Hurricane First Church of God, 3225 East Putnam Avenue, Hurricane, will be holding a Second Friday Gospel Sing starting at 7 p.m. Featured performers include the Brighterside Quartet, and soloists Bro. Randy Parsons from Buffalo, and Sister Juanita Phillips from South Charleston.
There will be a foam dance party for children ages 6-10 from 6 to 7:30 a.m. at the Foam Garage, 2716 Putnam Avenue, Hurricane. The cost is $8 per child.

The GFWCWV Woman’s Club of Cross Lanes is sponsoring their annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk at the Nitro Park Walking Track from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. $10.00 Registration Fee. Rain Date is May 21st.
The Macholah Ballet will be holding their annual recital from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Cabell Midland High School in Ona. The theme is Sow + Reap.
WV Home Mission Ladies LIFT invites all ladies to join them for a reflection on the “Women of the Bible” in word and song at 5 p.m. at WV Home Mission, 1128 Benamatti Avenue, Nitro.
