Community Calendar for Week of May 19

MONDAYS
There is a free Zumba class at Valley Park in Hurricane starting at 5:30 p.m.

TUESDAYS NOW – MAY 24
There will be a free community Bible Study on Tuesdays from 9 to 10 a.m. and Bible art journaling from 10 a.m. to noon at My messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane.

WEDNESDAYS NOW – MAY 25
There will be workshops every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane. Create seasonal decore, wreaths, signs, paint pouring, crochet, cards, jewelry, and more.

THURSDAYS NOW – MAY 19
There will be home school arts and crafts classes from 1 to 2 p.m. at My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane. The cost is $5 per participant.

FRIDAYS NOW – MAY 20
There will be crafts for toddlers from 10 a.m. to noon at My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane. The cost is $5.
There will be Friday Crafternoon classes for children from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane. Ages 4 and up. The cost is $5-10 per participant.

MAY 20 – 21
The WV Pumpkin Spring Festival Craft and Vendor Event will be held at Pumpkin Park in Milton from noon to 9 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday. $5 admission.

The Poca High School Class of 1972 50th Reunion will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane. There will be a catered meal with drinks and deserts. Cost is $25 per person. To RSVP, contact [email protected]
The Putnam Chamber of Commerce will be hosting Toast! at 8 a.m. at Drip Coffee in Area 34, 971 West Virginia Route 34, Teays Valley.
The 28th Annual Tri-County YMCA Annual Golf Tournament will be held from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Sleepy Hollow Golf Club in Hurricane.

There will be an arts and crafts street fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Hamlin.

My Brother’s Keeper outreach program will be hosting a spaghetti banquet dinner from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Eleanor fire station (top floor). Tickets will be $25 for adults and $10 for children 5-17.

MAY 24
Teays Valley Applebees will be holding a lunch and dinner fundraiser for the Charleston Walk to End Alzheimers.
Valley Health will be holding open interviews at 3729 Teays Valley Road, Suite 100, Hurricane, from 1 to 6 p.m. A variety of positions are available.

MAY 25
A paranormal discussion group meets at 6 p.m. at the St. Albans Historical Society, 404 4th Avenue, St. Albans. The speaker is WV Unseen. $10 suggested donation.

Health Rocks, a series that teaches kids about living a healthy lifestyle, will be held from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Eleanor Library.
River Ridge Church, 1 Saturn Way, Hurricane, will be hosting a Global Missions Night of Prayer Team Send Off at 6:30 p.m. The church will be sending off two Go Global teams heading to Colombia and Germany in June.

The Hurricane Sprayground will be opening for the season. Hours are Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
