Community Calendar for Week of June 9

MONDAYS THROUGH JULY 25
Community Autism Resources & Education Systems (CARES) will be hosting a Summer Social Group every Monday from 10 a.m. to noon at Valley Park in Hurricane.

SATURDAYS THROUGH OCTOBER
The Putnam Farmers Market operates from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the field next to Exxon on Route 34 in Teays Valley.

JUNE 10
West Virginia American Water Fitness Friday: Walk on the trails at the Putnam County Fairgound in Eleanor starting at 10 a.m.
Lee’s Studio of Dance, 8325 Winfield Road, Winfield, will be hosting a bingo night from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
There will be a blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce at Area 34, 971 WV Route 34, Teays Valley.
There will be a foam dance party for children ages 1 – 6 at 6 p.m. at the Foam Garage, 2716 Putnam Avenue, Hurricane. The cost is $8 per child.

JUNE 10 – 11

JUNE 11
The 2nd Annual Nitro Mini-Con will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Nitro Memorial Park on 21st Street. Comics, toys, collectibles, cosplay, etc.
The Salt and Light Food Pantry at Winfield Nazarene Church, 10822 Winfield Road, will be giving out food from 9 a.m. to noon. Bring a photo ID.
There will be a benefit yard sale to provide funding toward the annual “Walk to End Alzheimer’s” event at 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Putnam County Aging Program at 2558 Winfield Road, Saint Albans.
The Macholah Ballet, 6422 Teays Valley Road, Scott Depot, will be holding Tapaganza Master Tap Class from 3 to 7 p.m. for ages 12 and up. The cost is $60. To register, go to dancestudio-pro.com/online/themacholahballet

JUNE 12 – 15
The Teays Valley Baptist Church will be holding the West Virginia Jubilee 2022. Hours are 9:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Sunday; and 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Monday through Wednesday.

JUNE 13 – 17
The Red House Bible Church, 51 Warner Lane, Red House, will be hosting Wanted by God Vacation Bible School for ages 3 through 5th grade from 6:30 to 8 p.m. nightly.

Buffalo Church of the Nazarene, 25053 Buffalo Road, will be holding Mysteries of the Bible Vacation Bible School from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. nightly.
Make Waves Gospel Quest Vcation Bible School will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. nightly at The Pulse Church, 5368 State Route 34, Winfield.

The Winfield Nazarene Church will be hosting Christmas in June Vacation Bible School from 6 to 8 p.m. each night.

Magician Mark Wood will be holding a magic show at 10 a.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane and 2 p.m. at the Buffalo Library.

JUNE 17
The Great American Petting Zoo will be coming to the Eleanor Piggly Wiggly from noon to 7 p.m.
There will be a Zumba class at 10 a.m. at the Winfield Community Center as part of West Virginia American Water’s Fitness Friday.
Winfield United Methodist Church, 20 Radwin Drive, will be holding a Parents’ Night Out from 5 to 8 p.m. Drop off your child for an evening of games, food, and fun. For more information and to register, check out the church’s Facebook page.
First Baptist Church of Hurricane will be holding Recess Open House at 6:30 p.m. This is a mission designed for children with special needs and their siblings. For more information, call 859-533-4066.
