Community Calendar for Week of July 21

MONDAYS THROUGHOUT SUMMER
Community Autism Resources and Education Systems hosts a summer social group from 10 a.m. to noon at the Valley Park playground.
There are Zumba classes at 5:30 p.m. at the Commons at Valley Park in Hurricane.

FRIDAYS THROUGHOUT SUMMER
Food Truck Friday will be held on Main Street, Hurricane, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

SATURDAYS THROUGH OCTOBER
The Putnam Farmers Market operates from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the field next to Exxon on Route 34 in Teays Valley.

JULY 22
The 6th All Class Reunion for Nitro High School will be held in the atrium ballroom at the Charleston Civic Center from 7 to 11 p.m. The cost to attend is $30 at the door.
Fitness Friday: Toyota Nature Trail in Buffalo will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The walk begins at the last Toyota entrance (to the left of the pharmacy).

JULY 23
There will be a car wash to benefit the Winfield High School Band from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Advance Auto Parts in Winfield.
There will be a FREE Beginner Karate workshop for ages 5 and up from 11 a.m. to noon at Pinnacle Karate Center, 3544 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane.
Pickin in the Park Bluegrass Festival will start at 9 a.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane. Featuring bands like Johnny Staats & the Delivery Boys, Five and Dime, Ridgetop, and The Putnam Family.
Feather Ridge Farm, 528 Snake Mountain Road, Hurricane, will be holding a poultry processing class starting at 9 a.m. The cost of the class is $80. For more information, go to https://form.jotform.com/221738534917160

JULY 25 – 30
The Jackson County Junior Fair will be held at the fairgrounds located on Route 62 in Cottageville. For more information, go to https://www.jacksoncountyjrfair.org

JULY 25 – 29
The Pulse Church, 5368 State Route 34, Winfield, will be holding Make Waves/Gospel Quest Vacation Bible School from 6 to 8 p.m. nightly.
My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane, will be holding Fab Favorites Camp from 9 a.m. to noon. Children ages 9-14 will be able to dabble in a wide range of craft projects during this five-day camp.

JULY 26
There will be a K9 demonstration at 10 a.m. at the Hurricane City Park.
There will be a Photography Workshop for Teens/Tweens at 6 p.m. at the gazebo on Main Street, Hurricane.

JULY 27 – 31
Fraziers Bottom Church of God, 19064 Winfield Road, will be holding Food Truck Friday Vacation Bible School from 6 to 8:30 p.m. each evening. There will be church service and a party at 11 a.m. on Sunday.

A paranormal discussion group meets at 6 p.m. at the St. Albans Historical Society, 404 4th Avenue, St. Albans.

Children can learn about big trucks at Touch a Truck, held at 10 a.m. at the Poca Library.
Local author Katherine Manley will be coming to the Poca Library at 2 p.m. for a meet and greet.

Teays Valley Baptist Church will be holding At His Feet Ladies Conference from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Holly Forbes and Corduroy Brown will be performing at 6:30 p.m. during Live on the Levee at Haddad Riverfront Park in Charleston.
Fitness Friday: There will be an obstacle course at 10 a.m. at the Hurricane Bridge Park on Midland Trail.
There will be a foam party for adults from 10 p.m. to midnight at the Foam Garage, 2716 Putnam Avenue, Hurricane. The cost is $10 per person. Featuring glow foam and 90’s music; white attire strongly suggested.

JULY 30
The Mountain Artist Democracy Music Festival will be held at Ridenour Park in Nitro from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
There will be a food pantry at 8:30 a.m. at Cavalry Baptist Church, 3653 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane.
The Rustic Mechanicals will be performing “Love Labour’s Lost” from 7 to 9 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane.
