Community Calendar for Week of August 4

MONDAYS THROUGHOUT SUMMER
Community Autism Resources and Education Systems hosts a summer social group from 10 a.m. to noon at the Valley Park playground.
There are Zumba classes at 5:30 p.m. at the Commons at Valley Park in Hurricane.

FRIDAYS THROUGHOUT SUMMER
Food Truck Friday will be held on Main Street, Hurricane, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

SATURDAYS THROUGH OCTOBER
The Putnam Farmers Market operates from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the field next to Exxon on Route 34 in Teays Valley.

AUGUST 5
The Nitro Antique Car Club will be holding a cruise in at 5 p.m. at 21st Street and 2nd Avenue in Nitro.
The Town of Eleanor will be hosting a movie night at the Eleanor Pool starting at 8:45 p.m. The movie will be “School of Rock.”
Thoz Guyz will be performing at 8 p.m. at the Riverside Cafe, 3680 Winfield Road, Winfield.
There will be a foam dance party for children ages 1-6 at 6 p.m. and ages 7-14 at 8 p.m. at the Foam Garage, 2716 Putnam Avenue, Hurricane. The cost is $8 per child. For more information, call (681) 235-2603.

AUGUST 6
The St. Albans Heritage Festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Olde Main Plaza.
King’s River Worship Center, 777 Mallory Lane, St. Albans, will be holding a Bless You Day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free clothing, shoes, toys, household items, and more.
There will be a mountain bike race at 10 a.m. at Gritt’s Farm in Buffalo. Adult registration is $20; youth registration $5.
There will be a community yard sale on Mallard Crossing off Mount Vernon Road in Hurricane starting at 9 a.m.
There will be an outdoor gospel sing and ice cream social starting at 2 p.m. at Adda Baptist Church, Sugar Creek Road, Hurricane.

STARTING AUGUST 7
Grace Life Church, 93 Joy Lane, Culloden, will be featuring “The Gospel of the King” sermon series throughout the month of August. Services start at 10 a.m.

AUGUST 8 – 13

The AMT Kids Back to School Consignment Sale will be held at Valley Park in Hurricane from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Putnam County Chamber of Commerce and Network of Women will be hosting their 2022 Women’s Conference at the Toyota plant in Buffalo starting at 8 a.m.

First Baptist Church of Hurricane Compass Community will be holding a gathering starting at 6 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane. Featuring disc golf and walking the trails.

There will be a vintage market at Saving Vintage, 401 Midland Trail, Hurricane, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Hurricane First Church of God, 3225 East Putnam Avenue, will be holding a gospel sing at 7 p.m.

AUGUST 13
A benefit rock concert for the Anroldsburg Halloween Children’s Party will start at 3 p.m. at Ridenour Park in Nitro.
There will be a huge rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Winfield High School.
Battleground Wrestling will be coming to Lee’s Studio of Dance, 8325 Winfield Road, Winfield, at 7 p.m. This will be the Warfare Championship. The cost is $15 per person.
The West Virginia Association of the Deaf Biennial Picnic will be held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane.
The Hurricane Citywide Yard Sale will be held throughout Hurricane from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

AUGUST 14
There will be a spaghetti dinner fundraiser for a Ukrainian foreign exchange student from 11 to 4 p.m. at the Eleanor Fire Department on Route 62.
