Community Calendar for Week of August 11

MONDAYS THROUGHOUT SUMMER
Community Autism Resources and Education Systems hosts a summer social group from 10 a.m. to noon at the Valley Park playground.
There are Zumba classes at 5:30 p.m. at the Commons at Valley Park in Hurricane.

FRIDAYS THROUGHOUT SUMMER
Food Truck Friday will be held on Main Street, Hurricane, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

SATURDAYS THROUGH OCTOBER
The Putnam Farmers Market operates from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the field next to Exxon on Route 34 in Teays Valley.

The AMT Kids Back to School Consignment Sale will be held at Valley Park in Hurricane from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

AUGUST 12 – 13
There will be a vintage market at Saving Vintage, 401 Midland Trail, Hurricane, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

AUGUST 12
Shane Meade & The Sound will be performing at 6:30 p.m. at Live at the Levee, Haddad Riverfront Park, Charleston.
The Nitro Antique Car Club will be holding a cruise-in at the Living Memorial Park in Nitro.
The Vampire Ball will be held from 8 p.m. to midnight at Fear on the Farm, 8325 Winfield Road, Winfield. Tickets are $20 for one and $30 for a couple. For more information, call (304) 437-2860.
The Hurricane First Church of God, 3225 East Putnam Avenue, will be holding a gospel sing at 7 p.m.

AUGUST 13
A benefit rock concert for the Anroldsburg Halloween Children’s Party will start at 3 p.m. at Ridenour Park in Nitro.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Department will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. on West Virginia Route 62, between the Bancroft Post Office and 5th Avenue.
There will be a huge rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Winfield High School.
Battleground Wrestling will be coming to Lee’s Studio of Dance, 8325 Winfield Road, Winfield, at 7 p.m. This will be the Warfare Championship. The cost is $15 per person.
The West Virginia State Police will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint from 8 p.m. to midnight on Route 34 in front of Chapman’s Funeral Home in Hurricane.
The West Virginia Association of the Deaf Biennial Picnic will be held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane.
The Hurricane Citywide Yard Sale will be held throughout Hurricane from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

AUGUST 14
There will be a spaghetti dinner fundraiser for a Ukrainian foreign exchange student from 11 to 4 p.m. at the Eleanor Fire Department on Route 62.

AUGUST 15 – 17
The Putnam County Extension Agency will be hosting STEM Day at 10 a.m. at the Eleanor Library on Monday; the Main Library on Tuesday; and the Hurricane Library on Wednesday.

AUGUST 15
There will be a ribbon cutting for HellaFit Boxing Cardio Fitness, 2704 Main Street, Hurricane, 2 p.m.

AUGUST 16 – 20

AUGUST 17 – 20
Summerfest at the Mound will be held in South Charleston. Free entertainment, dancing in the street, food vendors, and more from 6 to 10 p.m. nightly.

AUGUST 17
The Duke reunion will be held at 11 a.m. at the John Henson Senior Center in Hurricane. Bring covered dish and gift for auction.

AUGUST 18
There will be a night market at 7 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane.

AUGUST 19 -21
The Pilot Club Antique Show will be held at Mountain Health Arena in Huntington from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $6.

AUGUST 19 – 20
Hillbilly Days will be held at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds on Trace Creek Road and Route 3 near Hamlin.

AUGUST 19
Lez Zeppelin will be performing at 6:30 p.m. at Live at the Levee, Haddad Riverfront Park, Charleston.
