Community Calendar for Week of August 18

MONDAYS THROUGHOUT SUMMER
Community Autism Resources and Education Systems hosts a summer social group from 10 a.m. to noon at the Valley Park playground.
There are Zumba classes at 5:30 p.m. at the Commons at Valley Park in Hurricane.

FRIDAYS THROUGHOUT SUMMER
Food Truck Friday will be held on Main Street, Hurricane, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

SATURDAYS THROUGH OCTOBER
The Putnam Farmers Market operates from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the field next to Exxon on Route 34 in Teays Valley.

Summerfest at the Mound will be held in South Charleston. Free entertainment, dancing in the street, food vendors, and more from 6 to 10 p.m. nightly.

The Pilot Club Antique Show will be held at Mountain Health Arena in Huntington from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $6.

Hillbilly Days will be held at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds on Trace Creek Road and Route 3 near Hamlin.

Lez Zeppelin will be performing at 6:30 p.m. at Live at the Levee, Haddad Riverfront Park, Charleston.
The Kanawha Valley Astronomical Society will meet at 7 p.m. at the Camp Virgil Tate Lodge, 1400 Co Rte 7/3, Charleston. There will be an open Board Meeting, a program on Radio Astronomy and discussion on Astronomy Weekend.
There will be a line dance party at 6:30 p.m. at CenterStage, 965 Village Plz, Dunbar. Admission is $5.
The Cross Lanes United Methodist Church Baby Love Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. to noon. Diapers and wipes will be provided. The church is located at 5320 Frontier Drive, Cross Lanes. For more information, call (304) 415-3194.
The Putnam County Chamber of Commerce will be holding Toast! at 8 a.m. at Area 34, 971 State Route 34, Teays Valley.

AUGUST 20
There will be a hot dog sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Buffalo Church of God, Route 62 and Church Street.
Seth King, Democratic candidate for WV House of Delegates (District 19), will be holding a campaign kick off from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Eleanor Fire Department on Route 62.
Community Autism Resources and Education Systems will be holding a summer swim camp from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Tri-County YMCA, 200 Carls Lane, Scott Depot. For more information, call (304) 964-3274.
There will be a car wash from noon to 3 p.m. at the Huntington Bank in Teays Valley. Proceeds go to the Winfield High School Band Boosters.
The Cops N Rodders Classic Car Club will be holding a cruise in at the Putnam County Bank Loan Center parking lot from 5 p.m. until dusk.

AUGUST 21
There will be board games at the Hampton Inn in Teays Valley from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Sycamore Independent Missionary Baptist Church, 5839 Sycamore Road, Hurricane, will be holding their 133rd homecoming at 10 a.m.

The 2022 West Virginia Cupcake Festival will be held at Valley Park in Hurricane. Car show on Friday from 4-8 p.m.; Cupcake Chase 5K at 8 a.m. on Saturday.

There will be a catfish tournament at Ridenour Lake in Nitro from 4:30 to 11 p.m. The cost is $15 per person.

The Town of Eleanor will be holding a movie night featuring the movie “School of Rock” from 8:45 to 11 p.m. at the Eleanor Pool.

The West Virginia Reptile Exile will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the West Virginia State University in Institute. Admission is $5.
