The Putnam Farmers Market operates from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the field next to Exxon on Route 34 in Teays Valley.

SEPTEMBER 16 – 17
The Dunbar Fall Festival will be held on 12th Street in Dunbar from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday and 1 to 10 p.m. on Saturday. Arts, crafts, food, entertainment, kids activities.

SEPTEMBER 16
Sounds of Bluegrass will be performing at Henderson from 7 to 10 p.m. There will be square dance and bluegrass music.
The Master’s Trio will be performing at 6 p.m. at West Virginia Home Mission Church, 1128 Benamati Avenue, Nitro.
Bancroft Mission, 5936 Charleston Road, Bancroft, will be holding TODAH, a sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving, starting at 6:30 p.m.
Putnam County Solid Waste Authority will be hosting a shredding day from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Eleanor Park.
The Putnam County Chamber of Commerce will be holding Toast! at 8 a.m. at Area 34, 971 State Route 34, Teays Valley.
Food Truck Friday Evening Edition will start at 5 p.m. on Main Street, Hurricane. This event features live music.

SEPTEMBER 17 – 18

SEPTEMBER 17
SpeakEasy Singles will be hosting their fall dance from 8 to 11 p.m. at West Virginia State University in Institute. Admission is $10 per person. Free dance lessons from 7 to 8 p.m.
Peoples Federal Credit Union of Nitro, 419 1st Avenue S, Nitro, will be holding a community shred day from 9 a.m. to noon.
Putnam County Solid Waste Authority will be hosting a shredding day from 9 a.m. to noon at the Poca Library.
The 27th Annual Putnam County Youth Day will be held on Saturday, September 17, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Putnam County Gun Club in Eleanor, adjacent to Eleanor Park.
Community Autism Resources & Education Systems will be hosting a BBQ and movie night from 7 to 10 p.m. at Bright Futures Learning Services, 2631 State Route 34, Winfield. For more information, call (681) 235-3114.
There will be a panel discussion on foster parenting and adoption at 10:30 a.m. at The Pulse Church, 5368 State Route 34, Winfield.

There will be a tent revival with David Frazier at 6 p.m. on Sunday and 7 p.m. on Monday through Thursday at the Red House Bible Church, 51 Warner Lane, Red House. Special singing nightly.

The Rowseys will be performing at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Zion Church Homecoming in Fraziers Bottom. The church is located at 406 Mount Zion Road. Services start at 10 a.m.
There will be board games at the Hampton Inn in Teays Valley from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.

SEPTEMBER 19
Voting 101: When, How, and Why We Vote will be held at 6 p.m. at the Putnam County Main Library. This event is perfect for new voters, or for anyone who just wants to know the basics without bias.

SEPTEMBER 20
There will be a Homeschool Mixer at 2 p.m. at the Putnam County Main Library in Teays Valley. Find out about homeschool resourses and connect with other homeschoolers.
The annual meeting of Mt. Vernon Cemetery Association will be held at 7:00 p.m. at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, 2150 Mt. Vernon Road, Hurricane.
The Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) of Hurricane will be holding an open house from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at River Ridge Church in Hurricane.

SEPTEMBER 22
The Putnam County Development Authority’s Annual Dinner will be held at Valley Park Conference Center in Hurricane. 5:30 p.m. cocktails; 6 p.m. dinner and program. Tickets are $75. To RSVP, email [email protected]

Saint Albans will celebrate its train heritage at the Fourth Avenue Historic Train District from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Poca Heritage Day will take place in the town of Poca. The parade will be held at 11 a.m.
There will be a pig roast fundraiser at the Putnam County Fairgrounds in Eleanor. The cost is $12 per person. Proceeds go towards the fair.
