Free Gym Time to End March 25

Free open gym at ZoneOut Sports in Hurricane will continue until March 25. The City of Hurricane has made the ZoneOut basketball court on Morris Court (near Allen Funeral Home) available to first through fifth graders from 8:30 to 10:30 am every Saturday morning since October. The free gym is for all Putnam County children.

Hurricane Mayor Scott Edwards reports that an average of 12 to 15 youngsters typically take advantage of the program each week. “With the free open gym, our hope is to get more of our youth out and about – exercising, meeting others, learning something new, and just being active. In Hurricane, we like to focus on activities that get our youth and adults moving, which is paramount to good health and a good life,” Edwards added. “It does not matter your kid good at basketball, just ok, or never touched a basketball. It’s for them.”

Future opportunities for all ages to engage in healthful activities will surge when the new Hurricane Bridge Park is completed.
