AUDREY MARIE BARNETT
Audrey Marie Barnett, 91, of Fraziers Bottom, was welcomed to Heaven on Saturday, March 25, 2023. Her legacy inspires others to love God, love people, and be generous in any way one can. Laughter was a necessity in her life, and her smile was infectious.
Born February 7, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Londus and Ethel Barnett of Buffalo. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Robert Lee Schoolcraft; son, Curtis Schoolcraft; son-in-law, David Craig; and sisters, Avalee Winters, Alma Kauff, and Louise Jividen.
Survivors include her daughter and caregiver, Diann Craig of Fraziers Bottom; brothers, Brycil Barnett of Leon, and Belvin Barnett of Buffalo; sister, Viola Dingess of Huntington; 3 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild; the late Chris Bonnett and his daughter Terri O’Connor of Poca were very dear friends and were considered as family.
Memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Raynes Funeral Home Buffalo. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

STEPHEN ‘CHRISTIAN’ CARSON
Stephen “Christian” Carson of Huntington went to be with our Lord and Savior on March 9, 2023.
He was born to Stephen Carson (Huntington) and Leann Dingess Edwards (David) (Mt Juliet, TN) 25 years ago. He left behind his beloved sister, Madelyn Spangler of Milton who adored him, sister Elizabeth Carson (Charleston), brother Anthony Carson (Augusta, GA), Stepbrothers Cameron and Grant Edwards (Nashville). Maternal grandparents Donald and Billie Sharon Dingess (Wharton, WV) who cherished him, and Aunt Lisa Godwin (Derek) of Charleston and Uncle Donny Dingess (Kellie) (Durham, NC) who loved him. Cousins are, Shawna and Connor Tyree (Charleston) and Addison and Alyvia Dingess (Durham, NC).
Christian also left behind numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and his beloved Jada Kuhn, who attended high school with him and now lives in Maine.
He graduated from Winfield High School in 2016 where he was on the academic quiz bowl and loved playing his trumpet in the band for all four years. After high school he attended Marshall University and then went to live in TN with his mom. Christian enjoyed gaming, computers, astronomy, history, reading books, anything Marvel, his family, his cat Icarus, and most recently was going through the process to enlist in the US Air Force.
A celebration of Christians life will be held sometime in June.

BRENDA COLE
Brenda Joan Cole (Jeffries), 73, of Scott Depot, passed away on March 19, 2023, at Hubbard House Hospice West in South Charleston after a long illness.
Born November 27, 1949, the daughter of Harold R. Jeffries and Katherine Bernice Burdette. Siblings preceding her in death were Harold Jeffries, Keith Jeffries, Terry Jeffries, stepbrothers Michael Winter and Rick Winter, half-brother John Jeffries, sister-in-law Mary Cross.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, James F. Cole, Jr.; daughters Stephanie Cole and Kimberly DeSoto (Brian), “favorite daughter” Korri Powers (Ryan); grandchildren Charlotte DeSoto, Aidan DeSoto, and Rosie DeSoto; sister Barbara Steele (Kermit), step-brothers Curtis Winter and David Winter, step-sister Wink Fontalbert, half-brothers Allen Jeffries, Robert Jeffries, and Steve Jeffries, half-sisters Karen Hall, Shirley Liptrap, and Mary Tucker; brother- and sister-in-law Hershel and Lynn Facemyre; nieces Wendy Hatfield, Julie Cross, and Jessica Jeffries; nephews Robert Steele (Carrie), David Facemyre (Nicole), Scott Facemyre (Vicky);
Brenda was a graduate of Poca High School, class of 1967. She worked for Diehl’s Restaurant, Nitro from 1970-1975. She was self-employed until her retirement in 2009. Brenda was a dedicated wife and mother. She was hard-working and humble. She was a loyal friend who never knew a stranger and often opened her heart and home to family and friends.
A Celebration of Life Ceremony was held Thursday, March 23, 2023, at Cooke Funeral Home, Nitro, with Pastor Gary W. Hall officiating.

CYNTHIA RENEE HUNT
Cynthia Renee Hunt, of Fraziers Bottom, passed away peacefully at CAMC Memorial Hospital in Charleston on March 23, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones.
Cindy was born in Charleston on September 18, 1960 to Edith Joan Hunt and Arnold Bruce Hunt if Fraziers Bottom. She was preceded in death by her father, her brother, Gary Bruce Hunt and her grandparents Arnold & Marie Hunt and John & Edith Davis.
Cindy is survived by her mother and best friend, Edith Joan Hunt, her pride and joy – her son, Matthew Todd Smith of Fraziers Bottom, her brother Gregory L Hunt (Melanie) of St Albans, nephews Travis B Hunt and Brandon L Hunt, niece Jessica Cox (Adam) and their children, Sam & Aubrey Cox of Given, and great niece Brayley Hunt and great nephew Brentley Hunt. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She will also be missed by her lap kitty, Rusty.
Cindy had a spirit and love of life, never to be dimmed despite the trials that she endured. She had a quick wit and sense of humor that were unmatched. When thinking of her you can’t help but smile. She was a devoted daughter, a loving mother and a loyal friend. She loved deeply and would do anything for those she loved.
No one has ever loved WVU sports or the Dallas Cowboys like Cindy. She was an avid fan that would put everything on hold while her teams were playing. Cindy loved to read, go to the movies and spend countless hours doing needlework that always turned out amazing and her brother Gregg would proudly frame for her.
Graveside service for Cindy was Monday, March 27, 2023 at Laurel Point Cemetery in Newton.

JESSIE RAHMATI
Jessie Kaye Painter Rahmati, 33, of Scott Depot, went home to be with her Lord on March 19, 2023.
Jessie was born on April 25, 1989 in Charleston to Rick and Nancy Hanson Painter. She was a 2007 Graduate of Winfield High School, graduate of WV State College and employed with KRT. She was a member of River Ridge Church, Hurricane, and formerly attended St. John United Methodist Church Scott Depot.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather: Charles W. Hanson Sr., and paternal grandparents: Nick and Loyce Painter.
In addition to her parents, Jessie is survived by the lights of her life, her daughters: Zoey Kaye and Sofia Lea Rahmati; maternal grandmother: Joyce L. Hanson of Winfield; brother: Matthew Painter (Auna) of Eleanor; sister: Susan Wymer (Michael) of Alum Creek; and by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many other friends.
Funeral service for Jessie was Sunday March 26, 2023 at Chapman Funeral Home, Winfield, with Pastor Chad Cobb officiating. Burial was in Winfield Cemetery, Winfield.

MICHAEL SHINGLETON
Michael Ray Shingleton, 62, of St. Albans, passed away March 19, 2023.
Michael was a graduate of Poca High School, a carpenter, and a Marine Veteran.
He is preceded in death by his wife Joyce Shingleton, parents Howard and Carole Shingleton, and brother Richard Sigman.
He is survived by his siblings Lora Shingleton, Howard Shingleton, Jr., Lisa White, Lynne Meshew, William Shingleton, Amy Covert, and Shelby Glenn and a host of other family and friends.
At his request there will be no services.

LINDA TURLEY
Linda Sue White Turley, 74, of Hurricane, passed away March 18, 2023 at Hospice West, So. Charleston, after battling cancer for several years. Linda was born in Miami, WV and had retired from Retail Sales. She was preceded in death by her parents Raymond White and Elizabeth Hall White, Linda is survived by her son Scotty of Huntington and one brother Tom White. Her Grandchildren Andrew Barton, Tyler Hatfield, Tanner Hatfield, Ariana Carter and Chloe Hatfield and several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.
Per Linda’s request, there will be no services. She was laid to rest in Valley View Memorial Park in Hurricane.

ADAM WALKER
Adam Gregory Walker, 34, of North Augusta, SC, formerly of Poca, passed away at home on March 21, 2023.
He was preceded in death by his loving grandparents, John and Donna Stewart, and Bill and Thelma Walker.
Adam leaves his wife April Walker, sons Gunner and Zander Walker, stepdaughter Summer Steele, Payton and stepsons Trevor and Xavier. He also leaves his parents Brian and Tammy Walker of Poca, brother Matt Walker of Poca and sister Crystal Walker Dickens of Charleston. Along with many Aunts, Uncles, cousins, friends and extended family members.
Adam was a loving Husband and Son and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A tribute to the life of Adam will be held at 2:00, Saturday, April 15th 2023 at Elizabeth Baptist Church in Bancroft.

PENNY WINGO
Penny Jean (McCallister) Wingo, 67, of Hurricane, went home to be with her Lord on March 22, 2023 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Penny was born on February 16, 1956 to the late Don and Della McCallister. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her in-laws, John and JoAnn Wingo, her sister-in-law, Linda (Wingo) Duncan, and her nephew, Scottie Duncan.
Penny graduated from Hurricane High School in 1974. She was a long-time employee of Putnam General Hospital/CAMC Teays Valley Hospital and a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Hurricane. She was a loving and devoted wife, mom, and Nana, and a friend to many.
She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Frank Paul Wingo; daughter, Melissa Melton; son-in-law, Billy Melton; granddaughter, who hung the moon in her Nana’s eyes, Kaylee Melton; sister, Helena (Danny) Pieh; brother, Don (Nancy) McCallister, Jr.; brother-in-law, Larry (Michelle) Wingo, life-long best friend, Patty Thomasson; and many nieces and nephews who were so special to her.
Funeral service was Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Allen Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Prevett officiating. Burial was in Cunningham Memorial Park.
