MATTHEW CARL CLEVELAND
Matthew Carl Cleveland, 43, of Culloden, passed away in Putnam Center after an extended illness.
He was a 1998 Graduate of Hurricane High School and a Veteran of the Army National Guard.
He is survived by his wife Cortney Cleveland; daughters, Allison Johnson and husband Ryan, Shannon Cleveland; son Tyson Cleveland, Parents Donald and Sharon Cleveland of Culloden, his siblings, Mark, Mike, Michelle, and Margaret.
Memorial service was held on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at Allen Funeral Home.

REBA DEAN HODGES
Reba Dean Hodges, 92, of Hurricane, passed away on June 19, 2023 at Putnam Genesis Center.
She was born to the late John W. and Minnie I. Racer Ashworth on July 1, 1930 in Glen Jean, WV.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son: Robert L. Hodges; her sisters: Margaret L. Wick, Frances L. Ashworth and Juanita Floyd; and brother: Watson R. Ashworth.
She was a retired nurse at CAMC General for 28 years.
Reba is survived by her daughter in-law: Teresa Hodges of Red House; stepson: James W. Hodges; sisters: Rachel Leshon of St. Albans, and Barbara Knapp of Hurricane; brothers: Paul W. of Letart, Dick of St. Albans, and Michael Ashworth of Cross Lanes; 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Funeral Service for Reba was Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane, with Pastor Scott Casto officiating. Burial was in Lower Hodges Cemetery Hurricane.

JOE PRINGLE
Joe Pringle, 76, of Heizer Creek, Poca, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at the Hospice House in South Charleston.
Joe was the son of the late Roy and Hannah Pringle of Poca and a member for over 70 years of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bancroft.
Joe worked and was retired from NL Industries after 30 years of service. He loved many outdoor activities and enjoyed his friends from George’s Inn. He also was a proud veteran who served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, John Allen Pringle and sister, Janet Pringle.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Doris and his two children, Todd Pringle and Sara (Todd) Nunley of Poca, daughter-in-law Tracy Pringle, and sisters Mary (Dan) Jordan of Red House, Theresa Persinger of Hometown, LeahAnn (David) Reid of NC, and Anita Goff of MN. The loves of his life were his grandchildren, Jacob and Joseph Pringle and Isabella Nunley. There was a special place in his heart for his many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
A Christian burial mass, conducted by Father Chapin Engler, was Thursday, June 29, 2023, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bancroft. Burial was in Haven of Rest Memory Gardens, Hometown.

WENDELL EDWARD ROSE
Wendell Edward Rose, Sr., 79, of Hurricane, passed away June 17, 2023, after a long illness.
Born January 13, 1944, to the late Ed and Opal Rose, he was the third of ten children.
In addition to his parents, Wendell was preceded in death by his loving wife of 38 years, Rebecca “Becky” Rose; brother, Alan; sisters: Faye, Marlene, and Joann; son-in-law, Joseph “Joe” Ball; and grandsons: Alan and Stephen King.
He is survived by his daughters: Wendy King (Alan), Heidi Rose (Joe); sons: Wendell Jr. “Rusty” Rose (Geneva) and Arthur “Ricky” Rose (Tessa); sister Ada, brothers: Frank, Jack, Roger, and Richard, 13 grandchildren: Kenneth “KJ” (Whitney), Ryan, Racheal, Shay, Eric, Ruby, Marley, Trinity, Skylar, Evan, Ricky, Waylon, Kevin; 7 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Wendell was a veteran of the Armed Forces, proudly serving his country in the Army until family hardship earned him an Honorable Discharge.
With a strong work ethic Wendell held various jobs throughout his lifetime, the most notable being a factory worker making fiber drums for the Continental Can Company. He retired after over 30 years of service.
Though he had only an 8th grade education, Wendell had many skills and talents under his belt. From home repairs to lawn care, from tv’s and radios to small engines, it seemed that he could do it all.
But most of all, Wendell was the family crew chief. It was not at all uncommon to find a friend or family member’s car under the tree. From tune-ups and oil changes to complete engine rebuilds, he could do them all. But he wasn’t just another shade-tree mechanic; no, he had certification from Ford Motor Company recognizing him as a Doctor of Motors.
Funeral Service for Wendell was Friday, June 23, 2023 at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane, with Pastor James Dennis and grandson KJ officiating. Burial wias in Valley View Memorial Park, Hurricane.

Benjamin Jeffrey Torman
Benjamin Jeffrey Torman, 63, of Hurricane, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 16, 2023 at his residence with his wife at his side.
He was born in Petersburg, Virginia, to the late Benjamin Darrell Torman and Barbara Ann Gray Torman.
Benjamin was retired from Estes Express Lines with 30 years of service as a Safety Manager. He was a member of First Baptist Church, St. Albans. He was a graduate of St. Albans High School, class of 1977 and a graduate of West Virginia State College. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, camping and genealogy.
Surviving are his loving wife, Saralee Torman; sons, David Shawn Torman (Shannon), Benjamin Kenneth Torman (Carrie), Joseph Burton Croteau and William Bryan Berry (Haley); daughter, Olivia Spina Berry; brothers, Brian Colin Torman and Timothy Stewart Torman (Dana); half-brother, James Reilly Torman and half-sister, Laura Ellen Torman. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Tristan, Tytus, Lola, Isabelle, Duncan, Effie, Sophia, Madison and Michael.
Funeral service was Saturday, June 24, 2023 at First Baptist Church, St. Albans, with the Rev. Joel M. Harpold officiating. Burial was in Guthrie Family Cemetery, Browns Creek, St. Albans.

Billie Ray Trimble
Billie Ray Trimble, 82, of Hurricane, went home to be with the lord on June 24, 2023 after a short illness. Billie was born in Madison WV and spent his childhood in Man.
He was preceded in death by his parents Millard and Clefa Trimble.
Billie retired after serving 22 years in the U.S. Army and he also retired from SMC Electrical.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Helen. One son Tim (Jan) Trimble. A brother and sister Marshall Brown and Sally Obrien both of Kansas. 3 Grandchildren, Timothy Trimble Seth and Jacob Lewis. 3 great grandchildren Waylon, Matix and Declan. And a host of many more family and friends.
Billie enjoyed anything outdoors including working in his garden, fishing, woodworking and even watching his western movies. He was an avid football fan and even played fast pitch softball and flag football in Ethiopia. Billie made many trips to Africa and even to many other countries.
Funeral service was Thursday, June 29, 2023 at Allen Funeral Home in Hurricane with Claude Spurlock officiating. Burial was in Valley View Memorial Park, Hurricane.
