In 1988, The Centennial History of Hurricane, WV was published to commemorate the town’s 100th anniversary. The publication included the histories of 16 Hurricane area churches. This week’s selection is the 7th of the church histories which were published in 1988.
HURRICANE BIBLE CHURCH
The Hurricane Bible Church and Christian Schools (K-12) grades “grew up” from years of Prayer. Faithful people in Hurricane prayed for an independent soul-winning Bible Church in Hurricane. God answered that prayer in February, 1976. A young man came into town after graduating from two Bible Schools. Being burdened to start soul-winning Churches in areas where there were none, God led Pastor Hage to Hurricane, West Virginia.
After visiting for days, Hage found a great interest in beginning a Bible Church. Twenty-eight people came to the first service.
The Church met for a year and a half at the Hurricane Woman’s Club, and then was able to buy property, without any outside financial assistance, on the corner of Second Street in Hurricane.
Within two years, the Church bought the adjoining McGhee property and now occupies five buildings.
God has been very good to the Bible Church and the Christian Schools that include kindergarten to grades twelve, a two-year Bible Institute and a three-year Bible College.
The Church has a television and radio ministry. On radio the message goes to 27 States and 13 foreign countries. The Church operates many more ministries such as Awana Youth and bussing.
The main teaching of the Church is to Love God and others. (Matthew 22:37-40)
The Church tries its best to lead others to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ through the Blood that He shed On Calvary.
The Church teaches all are sinners, and that Jesus Christ died, shed His Blood and rose again the third day according to the Bible.
Whosoever repents of their sin of rejecting Christ to receiving Christ, Christ will enter their heart and life and give them eternal life by the asking. Lord Save Me for Christsake Amen! (Romans 3:23, 5:8, 10:13, I Corinthians 3:13- 17.)
The Pastor and Church thank Hurricane for being so kind to this prosperous ministry.
