JOHN CLARK ADAMS
John Clark Adams, 77, of Winfield, departed this life on August 25, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was born on June 16, 1946 in Charleston to Clayton Adams and Pauline Atkeson Adams. He was a 1964 graduate of Buffalo High School and a lifelong resident of Putnam County. He attended River Ridge Church in Hurricane. He was a member of Millwright Local 1755 and worked as a Millwright for 36 years until his retirement in 2002.
John was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Geraldine “Geri” Kirk Adams; two children: Amy Adams Cope (Jamie) and John Adams (Angela); four grandchildren: Hannah Cope Smiley (Damarcus), Noah Cope, Mia Adams, and Dillon Adams. He is also survived by his twin sister, Paula Adams, as well as several nieces, nephews, sister-in-laws, and brother-in-laws.
A celebration of life was held August 27, 2023 at Allen Funeral Home in Hurricane.

CONNIE F. CASTO
Connie F. Casto, 59, of Evans, passed away Saturday August 26, 2023. She was the daughter of the late John Delbert Deweese and Dollie Lee Stutler Adkins. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister Bonnie Heron.
She is survived by her longtime companion, Bill Campbell; daughter, Trena (Travis) Dawson of Leon; son, Johnathan (April) Casto of Leon; brother Gene (Kathy) Deweese of Leon; sister, Shirley (Matthew) Duncan of Gallipolis Ferry; grandchildren, Hunter Dawson, Brody Dawson and Elijah Casto.
Funeral service was Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Raynes Funeral Home, Buffalo, with Rev. Randy Parsons officiating.

OZALENE CHAPMAN
Ozalene “Jean” Chapman, 83, of Liberty, departed this life on Saturday, August 19, 2023. Born Feb. 18, 1940 at Wilsondale, WV, she was the daughter of the late Avery and Lois Jonas Maynard. She was also preceded in death by her beloved brother, Cletis Maynard.
Ozalene retired from Krogers in Summersville and attended the Wade Chapel United Methodist Church.
Those left to cherish her memory includes her devoted husband of 63 years, James S. Chapman; daughter, Sheree (Chapman) Groves and husband, Eric “Dino” Groves; granddaughter, Rachel D. Groves Burns and husband Shawn; great grandson, Arthur N. Burns.
Funeral service was Thursday, August 24, at White Funeral Home in Summersville with Pastor Eddie Groves officiating. Interment was in the WV Memorial Gardens at Calvin.

VIDA D. DONEFF
Vida D. Doneff, 83, of Hurricane, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 after a short illness in the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington. Vida was a homemaker and loved working on the farm and spending time with her grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn and her parents Elza and Edith Adkins.
Vida is survived by her daughter Crissy (Paul) Taylor, 3 Grandchildren Nik Taylor, Jamie Taylor and Michael Taylor. 2 sisters Mary Lou Adkins and Delphia Marie Browning and a brother Teddy Ross Adkins.
Funeral Service was Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Allen Funeral Home. Burial wase in Doneff Cemetery, Clymers Creek.

Sharon Kay Larck
Sharon Kay Larck (Gram), 83, of Hurricane, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. Born October 26, 1939, in Parkersburg, she was the daughter of the late Russel O. Sr. and Garnet C. Powers (Meemie). In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by her loving Aunt Lucille C. Duvall and sister Sharla Rae Stacy.
She is survived by her loving husband Michael Larck, her brother Russel O. Powers Jr. (Darlene) children David Jay Hayes (Sheila), Andrea Kay Hayes, Jill Rae Hayes, and Joy Lynn Bias (Fred) and her stepdaughter, Ladonn Larck. Sharon leaves behind eight grandchildren: Robert Redden, Leah Redden, DJ Hayes, Joshua Hood, Jeremy Farmer, Jesse Hood, Jackson Bias, and Justin Bias. Others left to cherish her memory include 3 step-grandchildren: Catherine, Ashley, and Mark; 9 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and cousins. Sharon’s first-born great-grandchild Abby Redden was very loyal, supportive, and dedicated to her Gram.
Sharon was a proud graduate of Tyler County High School class of 1957 with many accolades. While Sharon worked hard as a younger woman, she spent much of her life as a dedicated homemaker. She was a loving wife, an amazing mother, and a devoted grandmother. Her love grew with each child born into our family. She instilled in us an immense sense of love, dedication, and determination. We owe her so much for continuing to love and support us through our hardest times. Sharon was a true matriarch who fully embodied the meaning of family. While we feel her loss deeply, her family will ensure that her legacy lives on, and we will take comfort in knowing that she is reunited with her loved ones.
A private graveside service with burial was held at Valley View Memorial Gardens in Hurricane on Monday August 28, 2023, with her brother officiating.

Erika Beth Lovejoy
Erika Beth Lovejoy, 46, of Eleanor, passed away August 22, 2023.
Erika is an employee of City Holdings and a 1995 graduate of Poca High School. She is a proud Buffalo High School Team Mom and an avid Buffalo Bisons fan.
She is preceded in death by her father Ray Landers and mother and father-in-law Barbara and Ed Lovejoy.
She is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Tim Lovejoy; two sons whom she adored Chase and Zach; loving mother Patsy Landers; brother Josh and his wife Wendy Landers; and a host of other family and friends.
A tribute to the life of Erika Beth Lovejoy was held Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Woody Willard officiating. Entombment was in Haven of Rest Memory Gardens, Red House.

June Redman
June Delores (Cleland) Redman, 91, of Scott Depot, formerly of Tyler Mountain, went to be with the Lord and reunited with her loving husband of 73 years, Joseph “Joe” Redman on August 18, 2023 at Hospice Care at CAMC Memorial Hospital.
June was born September 14, 1931 in Dexter, Ohio the youngest of twins and daughter of the Neva Blanche Romine Cleland and Floyd Daily Cleland. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her son, Mark A. Redman and daughter-in-law Gloria Jean Redman, four brothers and her twin sister, Jean Parsons, and six sisters.
After Joe’s passing June made her home the last year and 8 months at Rolling Meadows Place in Scott Depot.
Left to cherish her memory, our children: Dan R. Redman (Marsha) of Gary, SC. Barbara J. Kirk (Frank) of Hurricane, Sharon K Watkins,(Ron) of Nitro, Thomas E. Redman, of Hurricane, Cecilia Redman of Cross Lanes, sisters: Aundene Wheeler of Dexter, Ohio, and Maxine Wheeler of Belpre, Ohio.
11 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews.
Celebration of June’s life was held Thursday, August 24, 2023 at Tyler Mt. Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Russell officiating. Burial was in Tyler Mt. Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.

Janet Lynn Senseman
Janet Lynn Senseman, 83, of Scott Depot, went home to be with the Lord on August 22, 2023 at Hubbard Hospice House West in South Charleston.
She was born on April 29, 1940 to the late Jesse W. and Nellie A. O’Dell Spitler in Troy, OH. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. F. Dale Senseman.
A retired music educator, Janet was also an accomplished pianist for Churches of God (Anderson) for over 70 years. She was a member of Teays Valley Church of God. Janet was a graduate of West Milton High School Class of 1958, obtained her undergraduate degree from Taylor University in 1962 and pursued graduate studies in piano performance from Ball State University.
Janet was a loving mother to her children: Mark (Patt) Senseman of Indianapolis, IN, Melissa (Thom) Pratt of Scott Depot, WV and Michelle (Anthony) Thomas of Beavercreek, OH; grandchildren: Blake (Heidie), Hannah, Mallory, Paige, Joshua, Emily and Macey. She is also survived by her brother: Galen (Paige) Spitler of The Villages, FL.
Janet’s Celebration of Life will be Saturday September 2, 2023 at 5:30pm at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane, with Rev. David Bowen officiating. She will be laid to rest on Sunday, September 3, 2023 in Mote Cemetery in Arcanum, OH. Friends may visit the family Saturday from 4:00pm until 5:30pm at the funeral home.

Gregory Allen Sowards Sr.
Gregory Allen Sowards Sr., 61, of Culloden, passed away on August 20, 2023 at Cabell Huntington Hospital.
Greg was born on August 18, 1962 in Man, WV to the late Fred P. and Katherine V. Fletcher Sowards. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lisa; daughter: Kathy Jo Walker; grandson: Hunter Walker; brother: Paul Sowards and sister: Phyllis Ronk.
He was formerly employed with MPW Industrial Cleaning and lastly with his family at Fast and Dependable Services, he was also a member of Hometown Independent Church.
Greg is survived by his son and daughter in-law: Gregory A. and Christy Sowards Jr.; his grandchildren: Hayley Walker, Mikie, Lindsey, Xander and Troy Sowards all of Culloden, WV; his sisters: Alma Cart and Gail and Philip Scott both of Culloden, WV; brothers: Steve and Teri Sowards of Milton, WV, Fred and Sandy Sowards and Henry and Israel Umburger both of Culloden, WV; son in-law: Todd Walker; mother in-law: Diana Persinger; brother in-law: Shawn and Joy Persinger; several nieces and nephews and other family members. As well as his pride and joy, his dogs: Annie and Zoey.
Funeral Service for Greg was Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane, with Pastor Darren Persinger officiating. Burial was in Valley View Memorial Park Hurricane.

John Wesley Stancik
John W. Stancik, 88, of Hurricane, died peacefully on August 20, 2023, at the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston. That day, this world lost a great and brilliant man.
John graduated as a chemical engineer from Illinois Institute of Technology and retired from Columbia Gas Transmission Corporation after almost 40 years of service where he held many important positions. John was a 32nd degree Mason, an avid reader where he moderated a book club, loved to fish, watch TV, enjoy the birds, enjoy his pipe and, of course, his scotch. John always lived life to the fullest. He was a golfer at Sleepy Hollow Golf Club, a Putnam County Master Gardner, a problem solver, and a human dictionary. He traveled throughout the United States and other countries, and could share a wealth of information. His favorite saying was “it is what it is” because some things in life cannot be changed. He also had great faith in God.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, who was the love of his life; children, Shawn Patterson (Bill), Kim Johnston (Scott), Stephanie Braswell (Greg), Craig Stancik, Andrea Stancik (Sarah), Nicola Dawson, Lavonda Williams (Greg) and Judith Stancik. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Logan Williams, Elaina Dunfee, Harrison Braswell, Jackson Braswell, McLain Braswell, Kirby Patterson, Michael Dawson, and Paige McCarty. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Sylvia Stancik, his brother, Michael Stancik, and his son, Todd Stancik.
Following a private graveside service, the family will receive all those who knew and loved John, during a Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 9th, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Little Creek Country Club, 99 Fairway Drive, South Charleston.
