STEVE J. “ACE” AKERS
Steve J. “Ace” Akers, 67, of Fraziers Bottom, passed away August 28, 2023 at St. Mary’s Medical Center Huntington.
He was born on January 11, 1956 to the late Ward P. and Betty Jean Hudnall Akers in Point Pleasant. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by family members.
Stevie was the epitome of the “Visiting Neighborly Guy”, who every Sunday after church would visit many people in the community that weren’t able to get out and go to church, so he would deliver the church bulletins. Ace loved his church family at Mount Union Church on Plantation Road/Jerrys Run Road and was there nearly every time the doors were open if he wasn’t sick.
Steve is survived by his uncle and caregiver of nearly 20 years: Russell (Alice) Akers; brother: Dallas (Lisa) Akers; niece: Amanda Akers; aunts, uncles, cousins, other family members and a host of friends. As well as “Best Bud”: Jimmy (Tami) Ferguson.
Funeral Service for Stevie was Saturday September 2, 2023 at Mount Union Church, Fraziers Bottom, with Pastor Rex Nance and Pastor Donnie Akers officiating. Burial was in Bowcott Cemetery, Fraziers Bottom.

EMILY COBB
Emily Blackshire Cobb, 83, of Red House, passed away Saturday September 2, 2023. She retired in 1989 from the Putnam County Board of Education and attended Midway United Methodist Church.
Born April 2, 1940 in Buffalo, she was the daughter of the late Vannel O. Blackshire and Essie Mae Blackshire. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Dorsel Howard Cobb Sr.; infant daughter, Linda K. Cobb; one sister and three brothers.
Survivors include her sons, John Owens Cobb, Dorsel H. Cobb Jr., Clovis E. Cobb and Robert Edward Cobb; daughters, Beverly Parker and Edith Facemyer. Emily is also survived by 14 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, extended family and friends.
Funeral service was Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Raynes Funeral Home, Eleanor, with Rev. Mark Harris officiating. Burial was in Shiloah Cemetery, Red House.

HAROLD EUGENE HAMBY
It is with a sad and heavy heart that we announce the passing of Harold Eugene Hamby “POPS” at the age of 83. He entered Heaven on August 29, 2023 after a brief stay at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston.
He was born on July 2, 1940 to Claude and Juanita Hamby in Acme, WV. He had a happy childhood growing up in rural West Virginia and was proud of his heritage and the county he lived in and later served. Upon graduating from East Bank High School, he entered the United States Army where he received an Honorable Discharge in 1961. Shortly after serving he began his career in the airlines industry at Charleston’s Yeager Airport working for United Airlines and eventually retiring as a Customer Service Manager with Comair.
He lived most of his life in the town of Hurricane, where he raised his family. He was a supportive and loving father, grandfather and friend to many. He was an avid sports fan, especially when it came to football and golf, which he previously loved playing.
He battled many health issues later in life, though you would never know it because he always had an amazing smile, warm heart and positive outlook on life. He was baptized in 2006 and had faith in GOD and belief in the Bible, which he read often.
He is survived by his former wife Ginny Hamby who is the mother of his devoted son Bryan Hamby and his faithful daughter Kelli Hamby Ross. He was so proud of her two sons “His Grandsons” Chase Ross and Blake Ross, who brought so much joy to his life. His sister Beverly Lanham and her husband and his long time friend, Larry Lanham. His sister’s nieces, Lori Henshey, Angie Massey, Leslie Lanham, Wendy Wilson and Brittany Cochran. His niece and nephews through marriage, Skip Messenger, Chris Messinger, Steve Messinger, Heather Messinger Bodak and Mark Harvey, as well as extended family members and many friends.
He was preceded in death by Claude Hamby (Father) Juanita Farmer Hamby (Mother) and Sisters Kay Graham and Dawn Richardson-White.

Warren Lacy, Jr.
Warren Lacy, Jr., 29, of Poca, passed away August 30, 2023, after a cardiac arrest.
He was an Eagle Scout and a 2013 graduate of Poca High School. Warren was a helper for anyone who needed it. His favorite hobbies were fishing, working on old trucks, and hunting. He was always ready to watch a movie, play a game or work a puzzle with his maw-maw Kay.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents George and Ruby Berbohm and Lawrence Lacy and uncle Brian Lacy.
Left to cherish his memory are his father Warren Lacy (Amy Milbee); mother Maryann Lacy; sister Chelsea (Jordan) Williams; grandmother Karen Lacy and many loved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
A tribute to the life of Warren Lacy, Jr. was held Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Robert Lacy officiating. Burial was in Grandview Cemetery, Red House.

David Jason Lewis
David Jason Lewis, 50, of Hurricane, passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2023.
David attended Hurricane High School and was employed with KRT. He was passionate about his football and baseball and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Marvel Fan.
He is preceded in death by his mother Debbie J. Roberts.
David is survived by his six children Amber (Christopher) Lewis, Sarah Grace Lewis, Naomi Faith Lewis, Zachariah Paul Lewis, Rebekah Hope Lewis, and Nicole Paige Lewis and their mother Kristina Lewis; two brothers Sean (Amy) Lewis and Josh Lewis; and three grandchildren Claire Elizabeth Smith, Izzabel Harris, and Evelyn Allman.
There will be no services at this time.

Clarence Edward Priddy
Clarence Edward “Kinkie” Priddy, 57, of Black Betsy, passed away August 23, 2023.
He is a 1984 graduate of Poca High School; former employee of the Labors Union, Bill Harper, and Town of Bancroft.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Leo and Myrtle Priddy; maternal grandparents Clarence and Maysel Hedrick; father Rufus Priddy; brother Rufus Priddy, Jr.; and son Steven Priddy.
He is survived by his mother Joyce K. Priddy; wife Sarah Persinger Priddy; sisters Jackie Newson and Christy Thomas; brothers Dale and wife Janie Priddy and John Priddy; grandchildren Hannah Nunley, Alivia Nunley, Tyler Hughes, Adison Nunley, Collin Nunley, Harper Nunley, Elizah Hughes, Mila Nunley, Jesse Owens, and Mack Nunley; and one great grandson Kayson.
A celebration of Kinkie’s life will be 7:00 PM, Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Bancroft Town Park Gazebo.

Anna Marie Reynolds
Anna Marie Reynolds, 65, of Buffalo, passed away August 31, 2023.
Anna was a long-time employee of St. Francis Hospital and had previously worked for the Salvation Army, Ginos, and Tudors.
She is preceded in death by her daughter Tiffany Ann Reynolds.
She is survived by her son Jeremy Reynolds; grandchildren Destiny, Jeremy, Jr., Jeremy, III, Jacob, Emily, Alora, Dylan, and Jazzlynn; great grandchildren June, Remi, and Paityn; and supposedly her old man Joseph Morrison.
There will be no services at this time.
