Putnam County Homecoming September 9-10

Maximum Velocity Wrestling will be part of this year’s two-day Putnam County Homecoming in Winfield on Saturday, September 9. Bell times are at 3:00 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Saturday’s events include a Putnam County History presentation by Joyce Hanna, CL’s Finest Car Show, Petting Zoo and Pony Rides, a Dunk Tank, Car Smashing, Joey Stepp’s Magic Show, Joey Lynn’s Forged in Fire, Entertainers Branson Toliver, Dave McCormick and Cody Wickline. A shuttle bus between Winfield High School and the Courthouse will alleviate potential parking problems.

Sunday’s festivities begin at 10 a.m. with a Flag Raising Ceremony. There will be a community Church Service at 10:45 and Gospel Music by the Facemires at noon. Putnam County Homecoming Queens from each high school will be introduce at 1:00 p.m. State Route 817 will be shutdown at 1:30 p.m. for the Grand Parade. Inheritance and Appalachian Lassies will provide entertainment throughout the afternoon. Homecoming Awards are scheduled at 4:00 p.m. to be followed by the crowning of the 2023 Miss Putnam County.

The Putnam County Homecoming has been an annual event in Winfield since 1929 with the exception of the World War II years and 2020, the year of Covid.
