DIANA MAY CARTER
Diana M. Carter, 75, of Moorefield Place in Scott Depot, passed away early on the morning of December 7, 2023 after a long and patient struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was the beloved wife of James C. Carter and the devoted mother of Danae Carter of League City, TX and Thea Smith of Louisville, KY. Her daughters were the special joys of her life. She was also the proud grandmother of Brynn Alexandria Smith of Louisville, KY.
Also surviving Diana are her brothers: Clinton R. Price and his wife Joy, of Sugar Land, TX, Samuel E. Price of Charleston; her sister: Donna K. Devers and her husband Randy of Cary, NC. She was also blessed with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
Diana committed her life to Jesus Christ in her late teens at Parsons Chapel when the family returned to Charleston after several years in Newport News, VA. Over their 52 years of marriage, she and Jim worshipped at Fisher Memorial Church, 5th Avenue Church of God, and Teays Valley Church of God. She was always known for her sweet and kind personality.
Services to honor the life of Diana were held Monday, December 11, 2023 at Chapman Funeral Home with Pastor Tracy Call officiating.

JUDITH DEE HANDLEY
Judith Dee Handley, 81, of Scott Depot, passed away on December 6, 2023.
She was born on April 27, 1942 in Weirton to the late Elisha and Eva Crabtree. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Elisha Crabtree Jr., and Robert Crabtree; sisters: Juanita Metz, Joyce Miller, and Jerry Lilly.
Judith was retired from Kanawha County Board of Education as an elementary school teacher. She was very compassionate about her family, especially her grandchildren. She attended all their sporting events every chance she had. Judith loved to read, go to the library, shop and work crossword puzzles in her free time.
She is survived by her loving husband: John Lee Handley; daughter, Lisa Ritter (Jason) of Scott Depot; grandchildren, Ty and Grant Ritter along with several nieces and nephews.
At her request there will be no services.

JODY LYNN KEELING
Jody Lynn Edwards Keeling, 49, of St. Albans, passed away on December 7, 2023 at her home.
Jody was born on August 2, 1974 to Glenda Jean Gibson Edwards and the late Harry A. Edwards in Charleston. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sister Rhonda Severance.
She was a loving and caring mother who thoroughly enjoyed her pets and bingo, she formerly worked at Kroger and Ten Up Ministry.
Jody has left behind her sons: Gabe and Logan Keeling; mother: Glenda Edwards of Culloden; sister: Amy Thacker of Red House; brother: Devin Edwards of Fraziers Bottom; as well as other family and friends.
She was laid to rest with other immediate family members in Bird Cemetery, Hurricane.

JEANNE KENDALL
Jeanne Frances Kendall, 80, of Red House, passed away December 8, 2023.
Jeanne is a 1961 graduate of Charleston Catholic and retired from Winfield High School with 35 years of service. She is former secretary/treasurer for Putnam County Schools Service Personnel and a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband Jerry Kendall.
She is survived by her children J. D. Kendall, Jeanne Boggess (Jay), and Oliva Kendall; daughter by heart Karen Frum; brother Jim Cochran; loving friend Keith Karnes; seven grandchildren Seth Kendall, Tyler Goldsberry, Dakota Miles, Drew Kendall (Kristin), Courtney Miles (Sage Bittner), Lily Miles, and Amber Parsons (Isaac); and eight great grandchildren Leo, Nolan, Avery, Dax, Millie, Zek, Rowan, and Adley.
Funeral Mass was Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Chapin officiating. Inurnment was in Donel C. Kinnard State Veterans Cemetery.

Mark Sayre
Mark Lee Sayre, 73, of Leon, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023, surrounded by his family after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
He was a 1968 graduate of Charleston High School. He attended college at West Virginia University and then went into the work force. He was an employee of FMC/Olin/Clearon for 41 years, working there from September 21,1971 to December 1, 2012. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed nature and loved to hunt, fish, take hikes, and hunt for arrowheads in his creek. After retirement he worked around the farm, napped, and spent time with his friends, family and his little buddy Jackson.
Mark was born November 4th, 1950 to the late Ray Wardon Sayre and Frances Pauline (Rost) Sayre of Charleston.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Deborah (Napier) Sayre, of Leon; sons, Colby Sayre of Gallipolis Ferry, and Zachary (Gari) Sayre of Point Pleasant; grandchildren, Madison Pearson of Belle, Sean Wilson of Lexington, KY and Wesley Pearson of Point Pleasant, Nick Cichon-Ledderhose of Germany, Antonio De Luca of Italy, as well as many special nieces, cousins, friends, and his dog Jackson. Mark will be remembered as a great father, husband, and a friend to all, who would always do anything for those around him.
Funeral service was Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Raynes Funeral Home, Eleanor, with Rev. Randy Parsons officiating. Burial was in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.

Joseph Edward Sisco Jr.
Joseph Edward Sisco, 82, of Scott Depot, passed away on Thursday, December 7th, 2023 at his residence.
He was born to the late Joseph Sisco Sr. and Gladys Palmer Sisco in San Antonio, Texas.
He spent many years working as a Service Manager for General Electric before going to Amos Medical Systems where he retired after a decade of service.
His memory will forever be cherished through the many stories shared by those who had the privilege of knowing Joseph. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Peggy Ann Sisco; his children: Brent Newton, Tammy Newton, April Sisco, Joe Sisco, and Dwayne Sisco; his sister: Hazel Jean Staples; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
Per his wishes, he will be cremated. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.

John Strope
John Stephen “Jack” Strope, born August 26, 1938, in Barton, NY, went home to be with his LORD and Savior on December 4, 2023.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Mary Murray-Strope.
He is survived by his siblings; Douglas Strope [Maxine] and Joyce Kwiatkowski [Bill]. His four children; Tonnie Bowman [Gary], Shelly Weeks [Blayne], Michael Strope [Christina], and Sandy White [Michael]. His eight grandchildren; Kristin Warner [Jason], Leah Strope, Mya Strope, Jenna Strope, Jessica Wright [Kody], Derrick Weeks, Steven White, and Kyle White. His two great grandchildren; Calvin Warner and Laythan Warner.
Jack was a mason contractor and he loved fishing. He was devoted to his family and loved by all. Jack and Mary were members of the First Baptist Church of Eleanor.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Eleanor on December 16, 2023, at 2:00 PM with Pastor Greg Johnson officiating.
