Long Ago Time and Far, Far Galaxy Visits City Park

Day. Surrounding him are Arthur Scarberry as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Laiken Scarberry as Princess Leia, and Luke Studyvin as Luke Skywalker.

“A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…”

The City of Hurricane hosted a Star Wars-themed evening last Friday, August 9, at the City Park. The event was intended to be consolation for the community for the annual spring festival, which was cancelled due to inclement weather. This year, the spring festival was planned for May 4 – a day which has become popular in recent years for Star Wars-themed events because of the Jedi greeting “May the Force be with you.” (May 5 and 6 are observed by Star Wars fans, due to the play on the title of the “Revenge of the Sith” film – “Revenge of the Fifth” and “Revenge of the Sixth.”)

In addition to the Sar Wars themed evening, the City hosted Food Truck Friday Evening Edition at the park. The featured food trucks were Crafts of the Coal, ScragglePop Kettlecorn, Wavy Beach Taco Co., and Wild N’ Wonderful Rolls. Local craft vendors and community organizations also set up booths at the event.
