  • The Putnam County Farmers Market will be held every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the field next to Exxon on Route 34, Teays Valley.
  • The Country Roads Farmers’ Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane.

  • Bringing Back the Village – Free seminars for seniors and their caregivers will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursdays at the Putnam County Main Library in Teays Valley.

  • Bringing Back the Village: There will be a seminar on day-to-day help from Faith in Action at 5:30 p.m. at the Putnam County Main Library in Teays Valley.
  • There will be an open house from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Cresham Plumbing, 1195 Route 60, Hurricane.
  • The Putnam County Network of Women will be holding a nature walk from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Meeks Mountain Trails at Hurricane City Park. Meet up at the big red barn.

OCTOBER 4 – 5

  • Liberty Lions Club will be having their annual Fall Harvest Festival event from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the community center along Route 34 near Kenna. The address is 2910 Emma Road, Given.
  • Saving Vintage, 401 Midland Trail, Hurricane, will be holding their fall vintage market from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.

  • The Nitro Antique Car Club will be holding a cruise-in from 5 p.m. to dusk at 2nd Avenue, 21st Street, Nitro.

  • The Country Fall Festival will be held at the West Virginia Farm Museum near Point Pleasant. Antique tractor pull at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

  • The Nitro City-Wide Yard Sale will be held from 8 a.m. to noon.
  • There will be a veterans outreach event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Living Memorial Park, 2nd Avenue and 21st Street, Nitro. Learn about veteran programs and benefits.
  • There will be a Goodwill donation drive fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Putnam County Fairgrounds in Eleanor. There will be a hot dog and bake sale from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • The 21st Annual Winfield Baptist Church Car Show will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • There will be a comic trade day from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at The Board Room behind the Hurricane Walmart.

OCTOBER 6

  • Bowles Ridge Community Church, 2443 Crown Hill Road, Leon, will be holding their homecoming starting at 10 a.m.
  • The Nitro Convention and Visitors Bureau is sponsoring a bass tournament at the Nitro boat ramp from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Red House Bible Church, 51 Warner Lane, Red House, will be holding a hot dog and s’mores night starting at 6 p.m.

OCTOBER 8

  • Nitro Regional Wastewater Utility will be holding a community forum regaridng the proposed sale of Nitro Sanitary Sewer System to West Virginia American Water from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Nitro High School.
  • There are free line dancing lessons on Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. at Brookse’s Bar and Grill, 13184 Winfield Road, Winfield.
  • RidgeRunner Group will be discussing the hiring process for businesses at a workshop entitled “Winning the Talent War: Strategies for Success” at 8:30 a.m. at Area 34, 971 State Route 34, Hurricane.
  • The Upper Vandalia Historical Society, Putnam County’s historical society, will be holding an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Putnam County Main Library in Teays Valley.
  • Tony Craigo, Lieutenant of Criminal Investigations, Putnam County Sherrif’s Department, will be speaking on child internet safety at 8:15 a.m. at Area 34, 971 WV Route 34, Teays Valley.

  • Express Employment Professionals will be holding a walk-in recruiting and hiring event from noon to 4 p.m. at Area 34, 971 WV Route 34, Hurricane.

OCTOBER 11 – 14

  • The WV Kids Consignment Sale will be held at Valley Park in Hurricane. Hours are 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday; noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday; and 11 a.m. to noon on Monday.

OCTOBER 11

  • Friends of Old Time Music and Dance (FOOTMAD) will be hosting a community dance from 7 to 10 p.m. at Kanawha United Presbyterian Church, 1009 Virginia Street E, Charleston.
  • History Alive! presents Minnie Reed, portraying female folk singers of Applachian past, at 2 p.m. at the gazebo near the Buffalo Library.
  • West Virginia author Matt Browning will be reading from his chicken-themed children’s book “Chicks & The City at 11 a.m.
