LISA DAWN CRUMLEY
Lisa Dawn Crumley, 53, of Grayson, KY, and formerly of Hurricane, passed away on September 23, 2024 at University of Kentucky Hospital Lexington, KY.
She was born on December 19, 1970 to Linda F. Cowan Moore and the late John F. “John Boy” Moore. In addition to her father, she was also preceded in death by her sister Stacy Rakestraw.
Lisa had previously worked at Rite Aid Warehouse and Walmart, she enjoyed all sports while trying to beat her dad in ping pong, as well as playing volleyball and flag football with her friends.
In addition to her mother, Lisa is survived by her children: Tabitha D. Johnson (Willis) of Huntington, Danielle N. Crumley (Bobby) of Poca, CJ Crumley (Kaitlyn) of Nitro, and Michael Crumley (Jessica) of Big Chimney; 8 grandchildren; special friend: Gail Combs of Grayson, KY; and the father of her children: Joe Crumley of Georgetown, KY; as well as several family members and friends.
Funeral service for Lisa was Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane, with Pastor John Henderson officiating. Burial was in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens Cross Lanes, WV.
JULIA ANN DENNIS
Julia Ann Dennis, 86, of Scott Depot, passed away Friday, September 20, 2024, in Hospice House in South Charleston. Julia was born August 19, 1938, in Bergoo, WV, a daughter of the late Porter and Beatrice (Gunning) Fitzwater. She retired from United National Banks where she spent many years as Head Teller. In addition to her parents, Julia was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Dennis; daughter, Kim Roe; sister, Jean Price; and brothers, Jerry and Larry Fitzwater. Survivors include her beloved sisters; Pam Dosier, Kay Fitzwater, and Diana Witt. Julia loved vacationing at the beach, and her family will cherish the memories that were made at the beach, at home, and all points in between.
Funeral service was Monday, September 30, 2024, at Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington, with Pastor Kurt Gray officiating. Burial was in White Chapel Memorial Gardens Barboursville.
BOBBY DALE GIBSON
Bobby Dale Gibson, 82, of Winfield, went Home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at his home.
He was born on November 12, 1941 to the late Paul and Freda Fisher Gibson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters: Bonnie Roach and Peg Warner.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Wanda Hodges Gibson; daughters: Denise (Gregory) Dent and Donna (Mike) Barnhouse both of Hurricane, WV; grandchildren: Emily (Tyler) Puryear of Knoxville, TN, Laura (Joseph) Reed of Hurricane, WV, Caitlin Estep (Shreyas Mistry) of Sarasota, FL, Tessa (Nick) Stephenson of Louisville, KY, and Christian Barnhouse of Hurricane, WV.
Funeral Service for Bob was Monday, September 30, 2024 at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane, with Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Johnson officiating. Burial was in Lower Hodges Cemetery, Winfield.
JERRY ALLEN GRADY
Jerry Allen Grady, 77, of Buffalo, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at HospiceCare at CAMC Memorial. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish.
Born December 10, 1946, he was the son of the late John Grady and Iona “Midge” Grady. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Steven Grady; a brother, William Grady; and a sister, Barbara Dickerson.
He is survived by his sons, Terry Grady of Robertsburg, Jerry Grady of Robertsburg, and William “Billy” (Misty) Grady of Buffalo; 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Danny Grady; sister, Cindy Fox; daughter-in-law, Mary Ann; special nephew, Ayden Winter; as well as extended family and friends.
In accordance with his wishes, his body was cremated. There are services planned for the public at this time.
M. Daynese Holstein
M. Daynese Holstein, 92, of Hurricane, passed away on September 25, 2024 at the Hubbard Hospice House Charleston.
She was born on July 3, 1932 to the late Thomas E. & Beulah G. Wooten. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, R.K. Bob Holstein; brothers: Denzel and Max; and sisters: Deloris, Emogene and Ramona.
Daynese was a member of the Hurricane First Nazarene Church. She taught ceramics in her home for many years, later she enjoyed selling Home Interiors and then spending time with her grandchildren, especially making memories cooking.
She is survived by her loving daughters: Mona Evans of Ona, and Cheryl Parsons (Don) of Hurricane; and grandchildren: Mallory Jean Evans, Beau Scott Evans, and Lauren Taylor Parsons.
Funeral service for Daynese was Sunday, September 29, 2024 at Chapman Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Ice officiating. Burial was in Barker Cemetery in Ashford, WV.
Patricia May Lyons
Patricia M. Lyons, 81, of Red House, passed away Monday, September 23, 2024 at her home following a long illness. She retired after many years of service from Big Bear Corp. and retired as a cook with Putnam County Schools.
Born August 13, 1943, she was the daughter of the late James Blake and Lucy Casto Blake. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Dewayne Lyons; grandson, Andrew Lyons; brothers, Nile, Junior, Theodore, Charles, Arnett, and Tom Blake.
Survivors include her loving husband of 63 years, Wayne Lyons; daughter, Cheryl (Dwayne) Cobb of Buffalo; son, Timothy (Yvonne) Lyons of Henderson; grandchildren, Danielle Ashley, Jennings (Jamie) Lyons, J.D. Lyons, and Brittany Lyons; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Audrey, Lydia, McKinley, and Caroline; daughter-in-law, Donna Lyons of Scott Depot; as well as extended family and friends.
In accordance with her wishes, her body was cremated. There are no services planned at this time.
Larry Parsons
Larry Parsons, 77, of Suwanee, Georgia, entered the presence of his heavenly Father on September 29, 2024, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family.
Raised in Hometown, West Virginia, Larry graduated from Poca High School in 1965. A proud Vietnam veteran, he dedicated 15 years to the United States Air Force, serving in both active duty and reserve roles. After his military service, Larry built a successful 30-year career with Monsanto/Flexsys in Nitro, where he invested in strong, lifelong friendships with many co-workers.
Larry is lovingly remembered by his wife, Judy Parsons, of Suwanee, GA, and his children: Aaron Withrow (Lori), of Parrish, FL, and Dawn Bennett (Dan), of Suwanee, GA. His greatest pride and joy were his grandchildren: Cody, Caleb, Jacob, and Ally Withrow, as well as Carter, Macy, Camry, and Emmy Bennett.
Beyond his achievements, Larry’s essence was captured in the everyday moments spent with family. He was a man of simple pleasures, whether it was spending time outdoors, hunting, cutting down the family Christmas tree, or gathering for a special dinner. Larry took great delight in supporting those he loved, always present for sporting events and theatre performances. Even in his final days, he was planning for the next event, a testament to his extensive love and commitment to them.
A memorial service celebrating Larry’s life will be held on a date, to be determined. He will be interred with full military honors at Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery in Dunbar, West Virginia. His legacy of service and love for his family will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Louise Smith
Creshia Louise Smith, 77, of Eleanor, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2024 at CAMC Memorial. She was a graduate of Poca High School and retired from Sunbridge in Teays Valley. She was a Christian and attended Lone Oak Church. Louise loved her dogs, working with her flowers and traveling on vacations. Her greatest love in life was her family and she will be missed by everyone that knew her.
Born November 30, 1946, in Red House, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Wayne Cain and Yvonne M. Perkins Cain. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Carrol L. Smith; daughter, Pattie Lou Smith and an infant sister, Wanda Cain.
Survivors include her husband, Gerald Eblin; daughter, Paula Lynn (Timothy) Luikart; son, James L. (Misty) Smith; step daughter. Raena (Randy) Phillips of Gallipolis OH; brothers, Danny (Renee) Cain of St. Albans, Denver (Diane) Cain of St Albans, Arthur (Janet) Cain of Evans and Lawrence (Nancy) Cain of Evans; grandchildren, Joshua (Brooke) Luikart of Red House, Ciera (DJ) Eplin of Leon, McKayla (Troy) Woodson of TX and Kyra (Nick) Nelson of Culloden; step granddaughter Kayla Eblin. Louise is also survived by five great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Funeral service was Monday September 30, 2024 at Raynes Funeral Home, Buffalo. Burial was in Mt Zion Cemetery, Given.
Henry Eugene White
Henry Eugene White, affectionately known as Hank, passed away on September 29, 2024, at the age of 71. Born on March 15, 1953, Hank was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Hank worked faithfully as a security and maintenance worker throughout his life, but his true passion was connecting with people. Known for his joyful spirit and kind words, Hank always had a smile to share. His favorite pastimes included fishing, bowling, and most importantly, living a life dedicated to God. His faith was the cornerstone of his life, and he found great joy in sharing it with others.
He is survived by his loving wife, Catherine, his daughter Penny, and her husband Jayson, and his son Carl, and his wife Becky. He also leaves behind three grandchildren: Dondre Wigfall, Phillip Wigfall, and Thadeus White, as well as a great-grandson, Gabriel Wigfall. Hank was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Lula White.
A memorial service will be held for family and friends at The Pulse Winfield on October 12th at 2:00 pm. As we remember Hank, we take comfort in this Bible passage:
“But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and he will stand upon the earth at last. And after my body has decayed, yet in my body I will see God! I will see him for myself. Yes, I will see him with my own eyes. I am overwhelmed at the thought!” – Job 19:25-27
