Square Dance Club Resumes Lessons

Both new dancers and more experienced ones enjoy square dancing together.

Have you ever been curious about square dancing? Now is your opportunity to give this fun and challenging activity a try. After a lengthy hiatus, Dancers Choice Square Dance Club is now offering lessons in Western style square dance in Hurricane. All ages and skills are welcome to attend, have a good time, and meet new friends.

The club has a long history in the local dance community. Formed in 1986, Dancers Choice has met in various venues in the area over the years. The club currently offers lessons from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays at Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church, 2848 Putnam Avenue, Hurricane. Each session costs $5 per person.

Lessons are taught by Roger Steele, who has been calling square dances and teaching lessons for over thirty years.

In addition to offering lessons, Dancers Choice also hosts a monthly dance for more experienced dancers on the fourth Saturday of each month. These dances are held at Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church or the Nitro Church of the Nazarene. Members of the club also attend dances around the area, both in West Virginia and Ohio.
