KENNETH ADAMS
Kenneth A. Adams, 76, of Scott Depot, passed away Friday, February 21, 2025, at Hubbard Hospice House Charleston.
Surviving are wife, Karon V. Smith Adams; daughter, Allyson Chandler (Keith); son Kevin Adams (Heidi); brother, David Adams (Jenny), 9 Grandchildren, 2-step Grandsons, and 3-Great granddaughters and extended family members and friends.
He was a Vietnam Veteran of the US Air Force and avid fisherman. He loved to be with his friends at Splinter.
No services are scheduled at this time.

STACY C. CAMPBELL
Stacy C. Campbell, 40, of Scott Depot, passed away on February 18, 2025, after a short illness.
She was born to Richard C. and Donna Holdren Campbell on May 20, 1984. In addition to her parents, she was also survived by her brother, Ryan Campbell; and her dog, Molly all of Scott Depot, WV.
Stacy was a 2002 graduate of Hurricane High School and also graduated from Ben Franklin Career Center in Institute, WV.
She was buried in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.

BRIANA CAVANAUGH
Briana Carrie Smith Cavanaugh, 33, of Hurricane, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, following a sudden illness. She was born on July 22nd, 1991, in Huntington to Brian and Kelly Smith, She graduated from Hurricane High School Class of 2009.
Briana is survived by her husband Vince Cavanaugh, 3 Sons, Rylan, Easton and Reign, Parents, Brian and Kelly Smith, Brother, Peyton Smith. Grandparents, Eileen Woodword, Robert (Barbara) Smith and Karen Smith, many Aunts, Uncles Cousins and extended family and friends.
Visitation was Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at Allen Funeral Home. Burial was Thursday, February 27, in Valley View Memorial Park.

LARRY COURTRIGHT
Larry Marshall Courtright, 84, of Hurricane, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 20, 2025, after a short illness surrounded by love and family. He was born June 12, 1940, on Riders Creek near Hurricane. Larry was a devoted member of Forrest Burdette Methodist Church where he regularly attended. His Christian faith was the cornerstone of his life. His love for God’s word was evident in everything he did, his hobby was reading the Bible, and he took great joy in sharing its teachings with others, whether through discussions or simply through his actions.
He was a retired carpenter from the Charleston Carpenters Local. In addition to his work as a craftsman, Larry was also a small business owner who built homes in the Hurricane area for the past 60 years, leaving a lasting legacy.
Larry was a graduate of Hurricane High School, Class of 1959. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, camping, and exploring new places with his beloved family by his side. He cherished his time as a Sunday School teacher and a youth league baseball coach, helping to shape the lives of young people in his community. Larry loved nothing more than a good cup of hot coffee, and he could often be found around town sipping his favorite coffee while chatting with anyone who crossed his path. He was known for his kind and friendly nature and had the rare gift of making friends everywhere he went—he truly never met a stranger. He also loved telling stories and as a great storyteller he had an amazing way of bringing each tale to life, leaving everyone around him laughing and feeling connected. He will be remembered not only for his work ethic and his devotion to his family, but also for his big heart and unwavering kindness to those around him.
Larry’s greatest love was for his family, especially his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 62 years. He is survived by her, Kathryn Jean (Dick) Courtright. They were married during a blizzard on January 23, 1963. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and memories. He is also survived by his son Gregory Marshall Courtright and his wife Tracie of Hurricane, son Earl Derrick Courtright and his wife Marina of Big Fork, Montana, and his cherished grandchildren, Gracyn Dawn Courtright, Morgan Dell Courtright, Andrew Wisniewski, and Sofia Alexis Courtright. He is also survived by his very special niece Linda (Henson) Clark, and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his pride and joy, his only daughter, Marsha Dell (Courtright) Wisniewski, as well as his parents Kenneth and Rosa (Croson) Courtright, brothers Harle (Pete), Oscar, Earl, and sister Ruth (Courtright) Henson.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, February 26, at Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church. Burial was in Valley View Memorial Park.

PAUL CURTIS FIKE
Paul Curtis Fike, 51, of Poca, passed away February 16, 2025, at the home of his daughter.
Paul is a 1991 graduate of Poca High School and retired owner/operator of PF Electrical. He is an Army Veteran and enjoyed video games, guns, and his dogs Winchester, Mr. Fizzles, LeRoy, and Bobby.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife Belinda Sue Fike and his parents Ralph and Rose Fike.
Paul is survived by his daughter Felicia and her husband Kody McVay of Oak Grove, KY.
A tribute to the life of Paul was held Friday February 21, 2025 at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Betty Lett officiating. Burial was in Donel C. Kinnard State Veterans Cemetery.

BERRI LYNN FLUHARTY
Berri Lynn Fluharty, 63, of Winfield passed away Saturday, February 22, 2025, in Cabell Huntington Hospital.
Berri was born and raised in Clarksburg and graduated from Washington-Irving High School where she was a member of the marching band. She is a former 17-year employee of Ticketmaster and is an avid Pittsburg Penguin fan.
She is preceded in death by her husband Kevin Fluharty and her boxer Zoe.
Left to cherish her memories are her children Cody, Brandi, and Ashley Fluharty; her parents Richard and Carolyn Clovis; brother David A. Wagner and his wife Deborah; brother-in-law Rusty Fluharty and his wife Donna; grandchildren Jaydon Haikel and Reagan Smith; and nieces and nephew Taylor Teague, Nina Wagner, and Trace Wagner.
A tribute to the life of Berri Fluharty will be 1:00 PM Saturday March 8, 2025 at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Cheryl Winter officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

ROGER LEE HORN
Roger Lee Horn, 77, of Hurricane, passed away on February 21, 2025 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington.
He was born to the late Clifford Sr. and Dicie Mae Jarrell Horn on June 21, 1947 in Inez, KY. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Horn; sons: Roger and Johnny; and his brother, Clifford Horn Jr..
Roger was well known in the community for his trade, where he owned and operated Horn Roofing and Remodeling.
He is survived by his daughters: Tammy (Joe) Reavis of Culloden, WV, Melissa (Ray) Horn of Inez, KY, and Joyce Bowen of Louisa, KY; son: Randy (Melinda) Horn of Inez, KY; sisters: Maggie (Jr.) Blackburn and Josie (Glen) Pennix all of Inez, KY; grandchildren: Joshua (Brittany), Linzie (Maddie), Brittany (John), Tiffany (Marcus), Tori (Sam), Jonathon (Morgan), Hunter, Kajsa (Noah), Hailey (Chance), Josh, Dana, T.R. (Barb), BB, and Donovan (Bre); numerous great grandchildren; and special niece: Joann Horn of Inez, KY; as well as several nieces, nephews, friends and other family members.
Funeral service for Roger was Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane. Burial was in Valley View Memorial Park, Hurricane.

KAREN LILLY
Karen was preceded in death by her parents Howard Jarvis and Jessie Evelyn Jarvis, sister Dora Ann Gooden, two beloved sons, Jerry Alan Lilly and Timothy Mitchell Lilly and beloved granddaughter, Amanda Jessy Lilly.
Karen leaves behind her sweetheart of 62 years, Jerry Arthur Lilly, Daughter Kristin Lilly, Grandchildren Jacob Lilly, Seth Bowers, Caleb Bowers and daughter-in-law Sherry Lilly.
Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church has been the Lilly’s home church for 55 years where Karen was a devoted and compassionate member of United Methodist Woman. Over the years, she has served the church and our community in many capacities some of which include Church Historian, United Methodist Women, Women’s Club, she started the Easter Egg Program, a leader in the Harrah Symphonic Organ Committee, Woman of the Year for Putnam County, Friends of Fellowship Sunday School Class, member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She worked for City Hall from 1974 as Clerk and she retired in 2005 as City Manager. She had too many accomplishments for us to list them all.
Karen was a loving, devoted, generous, classy and kind woman. She was a friend to all and enemy to none. She was always ready with a word of encouragement or a hug to lift people up. She will truly and deeply be missed by those who were blessed to know her.
Karen also made beautiful purses to sell at the United Methodists Women Fall Bazaar. If you are blessed to own one of her purses, it would be nice to wear it to her memorial on March 1 @ 1:00 at Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church. Gathering of family and friends will be at 12:00 to 1:00 prior to the service.

Alex McCallister
Alex McCallister, 25, of Hurricane, passed away February 19, 2025.
Alex was born November 11, 1999, in Hurricane. He is a 2018 graduate of Buffalo High School and has worked numerous places, but his favorite job was installing gutters. He had a love for antique cars and participated in the mud runs at the Putnam County Fair. He attended Gateway Christian Church in Teays Valley where he was recently baptized and loved spending time with his family, especially his kids.
He is preceded in death by his grandpa Ronald McCallister.
Alex is survived by his wife, Jasmine; children Carson, Noah, Amiyah, and Alayah; mother Jennifer Stire; father Newton Blevins; sisters Danielle Cochran, Emily Blevins, and Betsy Blevins; brother Newton Blevins, III; niece Novalee; and nephew Kayden. He is also survived by a host of other family and friends.
A tribute to the life of Alex was held Monday, February 24, 2025, at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jed Worline officiating.

Russell Mercer
Russell Lee Mercer, son of the late Henry C. And Ensell Caldwell Mercer, born February 10, 1935 on the family farm, passed away peacefully at home on February 22,2025.
Russell graduated Hurricane High School, class of 1953, and retired from US Steele Chemical. His other full time job, which he enjoyed most, was farming.
Russell, is survived by the love of his life of 63 years, Judy Wood Mercer. They were married Christmas Eve 1961. He is also survived by son, David and wife, Crissi, grandchildren, Eric and Cortney, and great grandchildren.
At his request there will be no service, and his remains will be scattered on the family farm.

Carol Rowsey
Carol Joyce Sovine Rowsey, 91, of Hurricane, completed her life of service to her family, her God, her church and her community on Feb. 19, 2025 following an injury due to a fall.
She was born April 14, 1933 to Howard T. Sovine and Thelma Sovine McElroy in Hurricane. Following her fathers death when she was 8 years old she began helping her mother care for her four younger siblings and continued taking care of her family members for the next 82 years until the passing of her daughter Jan Rowsey and her younger sister Lois White just a few short weeks ago.
Carol was well known for her bread and pie baking and was always baking them for family and friends whenever someone else was grieving, facing a crisis or in need. She often served as a 2nd mother or grandmother to many of her children’s friends over the years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Rowsey, her daughter Jan, her sisters Marion Howell, Lois White, brothers, Denny Wise, Riley Sovine, Doug Wise and Tim Wise.
She is survived by her daughter LaDonna Rowsey of Hurricane, her son Howard Rowsey (Sharon) of Parkersburg, granddaughter Courtney Dyer (Shawn) of Hurricane and four great grandsons Greyson, Guy, Knox and Wesley.
Funeral service was Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church. Burial was in Valley View Memorial Park.

Sandra Simpkins
Sandra Canterbury Nelson Simpkins went to be with the Lord on February 17, 2025. She was born to the late Samuel T. and Wyona Taylor Canterbury in Winfield on March 20, 1947. Sandy graduated from Winfield High School and retired as a secretary from the magistrate’s office in Winfield in 1990. She was a loving wife and cared about her family. She was a Christian with a servant’s heart and an active member at the Church of Christ in Lecanto, FL.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Lloyd Nelson, brothers Homer, Herman, Clarence, Gene, Ray, Wade, and Douglas Canterbury and sisters Laura Robinette, and Velma Harden. Brother-in-law Stephen Nelson and Dalvis Simpkins.
She is survived by her husband, Danny Simpkins, sister Judy Russell, sister-in-law Betty Canterbury, brothers-in­ law Kelly Nelson, Ronnie Nelson (Tami), Donnie Nelson (Jan), Paul Nelson (Debbie), Dale Simpkins, sister-in-law Karen Riley, 2 step children, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services was Thursday, February 27, 2025 at the Church of Christ in Lecanto, FL.

Hubert Wickline
Hubert Wickline of Shawnee, OK, passed away Monday, February 17th, 2025, at the age of 90, peacefully at his home with his beloved wife Mary Ann by his side under the care of Hospice.
Hubert was born November 20, 1934 to Elza and Birdie Wickline.He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife Malvina, known by June, (Boyce) Wickline of 56 years, son Roger Wickline and son Glenn Wickline, brother Edmond Wickline and sister-in-law Frances Wickline, brother Bryan Wickline, brother Jack and sister-in-law Hilda Wickline, sister Virginia (Wickline) Halstead and brother-in-law Evermont Halstead, and sister Nancy (Wickline) Bair and brother-in-law Ralph Bair.
Hubert is survived by family of niece Jeanette and husband Jerry Waller; Nephews Mark Halstead and Leon Halstead; His great-nephew Jeremy Waller and wife Georgia Waller and their 3 children.
Hubert is survived by his family, with his first wife June Wickline, their son Gary Wickline. Connie (Wells) Wickline. Hubert’s Grandson Andrew Wickline and wife Rachel (Miller) Wickline their children, Hubert’s great-grandchildren, Daniel, Noah and Della Wickline; Granddaughter Christina (Wickline) Danforth and husband Jim Danforth their children, Hubert’s great-grandchildren, Corban and wife Haleigh (Wolff) Danforth; Canaan, Chilion, Bethany, Caleb, Christopher, and Carlton and wife Christian (Sloan) Danforth their children, Hubert’s great-great-grandchildren David, Chase, Eliana, soon to be born Owen, and Evan Danforth.
He is survived by his second wife of 10 years, Mary Ann (Lanier) Wickline and her children. Daughter Cindy (Lanier) and husband Jim Nielsen; Son Mark and his wife Tina Lanier, and daughter Melanie Lanier. Mary Ann’s grandchildren are Kirsten and husband Daniel Pickworth; Dana Nielsen, Paul Nielsen, and Tim Nielsen; Forest Lanier and Dustin Lanier. Mary Ann’s great-grandchildren Vera and Corbin Pickworth.
Hubert was born in Hurricane, West Virginia. He graduated from High School in 1951 then entered the US Air Force with an Honorable Discharge. He married June Boyce on May 8, 1960, in Charleston, West Virginia and moved to Columbus, Ohio, shortly after adopting her three children into the family, Gary, Rodger and Glenn. Then moved to Las Cuses, NM; Rosamond, CA; Tulsa, OK in 1969 he began working for Holland Hall until 2001. After retirement he moved to Kansas, OK until his wife June passed in 2014 he married Mary Ann then moved to Shawnee, Oklahoma.
Hubert was accomplished at whatever he did. His skills, talents, and hobbies were wide and varied including but not limited to gardening, orchard, bee keeping, rock hound, dark room photography, travel, writing stories and poetry, serving the community, and if you are interest in something particular he was too.
Hubert was a generous, witty, dedicated, individual who loved family and was passionate about changing the world around him. Educating the younger generations and learning from those around him. He was an active and dedicated member of the local Church where he lived and volunteered in the community.
Hubert will be remembered as such a kind, gentle, patient, knowledgeable, listening, joyful, loving, wise, hardworking, stubborn, supportive, steadfast, appreciative, giving, living history, faithful, selfless, respectable, and the list is long that describes the man who he is to those he encouraged to pursue their goals and generously helped them achieve their dreams.
Services were held at Fort Gibson National Cemetery, Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.
