Community Calendar for Week of May 1

MAY 1 – 3

  • The Town of Eleanor will be holding their spring yard sales from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

MAY 2 – 4

  • The Blenko Glass Festival of Glass will be held at Blenko in Milton.

MAY 2 – 3

  • The Winfield Baptist Church Annual Yard Sale will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday at the church, located at 12902 Winfield Road.

MAY 2

  • There will be a pool tournament from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Buffalo Senior Center.
  • The Nitro Antique Car Club will be holding a cruise-in starting at 5 p.m. on Second Street.
  • Bancroft Mission will be holding an evening of praise and thanksgiving at 7 p.m. at the Bancroft Park.
  • Putnam County Support Center will be holding a resource fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 10822 Winfield Road, Winfield.

SATURDAYS STARTING MAY 3

  • The Putnam County Farmer’s Market is open for the season from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the field beside Exxon, across from the Putnam County Library in Teays Valley.
  • The County Roads Farmers’ Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane.

MAY 3 – 4

  • Gritt’s Farm in Buffalo will be holding Baby Animal Days featuring baby goat and chick visits, train rides playground attractions, and more. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays.

MAY 3

  • The 2nd Annual Harmony House Renaissance Faire will be held at Harris Riverfront Park in Huntington. Enjoy a day browsing oddities from more than 40 local artisans as you listen to music and watch dozens of performances of horseback archery, combat, belly-dancing, and more! Tickets are $25 adult, $10 child.
  • The West Virginia Farm Museum, 1458 Fairground Road, Point Pleasant, will be holding an antique tractor pull at 11 a.m.
  • Gritt’s Farm in Buffalo will be celebrating the birthday of the owner, Bob Gritt, by giving away one free vanilla ice cream cone per guest from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • The Nitro Church of the Nazarene, 1400 Sattes Circle, will be holding their spring bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Fish On Bassmasters – WV will be holding an open tournament starting at the Nitro Boat Ramp from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Poca River Hunting, Fishing, and Recreation Club, 789 Dupont Road, Poca, will be holding a family fun day from 4 to 7 p.m. Fishing tournament, Mother’s Day crafts, games, and more.
  • There will be a Mother’s Day celebration from noon to 2p .m. at the Bancroft Town Park. Free food, gifts, and photo locations.
  • The 5th Annual Putnam Career and Technical Center SkillsUSA Car Show will be held from noon to 3 p.m. at the school in Eleanor. Registration is from 10 a.m. to noon.
  • Witcher Creek Vintage will be having a spring fundraiser sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Pulse Church, 5368 WV Route 34, Winfield. • There will be a rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • There will be a flea market parking lot sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Valley Vintage, 404B Midland Trail, Hurricane.
  • The Main Street Spring Festival will be held in Hurricane from 1 to 5 p.m.

  • The Board Room, located behind the Hurricane Walmart, will be hosting Free Comic Book Day during regular business hours.

  • The Nitro Alley Cat, Show Cats, and Sophisticats will be holding their dinner theaterat the school. First seating – doors open at 12:30 p.m.; second seating at 3:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 at the door.
  • John’s Cyclery will be holding their monthly mountain bike ride at 2 p.m. at the Ridenour Park in Nitro. Meet up at 2 p.m. at the pump track.
  • The Wookie Wobble 5K, presented by the Putnam Aging Program, will start at 2 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane. Prizes for the three best Star Wars costumes. Registration fees are $25 before April 21; $30 April 21 – May 2; $35 Day of Race. Register at TriStateRacer.com/WookieWobble5K

  • Buffalo Methodist Church, located at 27 High Street, Buffalo, will be holding a revival at 7 p.m. nightly. The theme of the revival is “Ignite the Spark” with guest speaker Rev. Bob Herdman.
