Community Calendar for Week of May 8

NOW THROUGH THE END OF OCTOBER

  • The Putnam County Farmer’s Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the field beside Exxon, across from the Putnam County Library in Teays Valley.
  • The County Roads Farmers’ Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane.

MAY 8

  • The Winfield High School Band Boosters will be holding Dessert and a Show at 6 p.m. Choose from a variety of dessert options while enjoying the WHS symphonic band and other ensembles perform. Cost is $5 at the door.
  • The Putnam County Network of Women will meet at 8:15 a.m. at Area 34, 971 WV Route 34, Teays Valley. For more information, call 304-757-6510.
  • Zoology Zone Science Center, located at Valley Park in Hurricane, will be holding a student art exhibition from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

MAY 9

  • The Putnam County Library is hosting a homeschool field day at 1 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane.

MAY 9 – 10

  • There will be a yard sale at the Buffalo Church of God, Route 62 and Church Street, from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.

MAY 10

  • Bake My Day, 14 Bank Street, Nitro, will be holding a women’s clothing swap from 1 to 4 p.m. Bring ten items of new or gently used clothing and trade them for something else.

  • There will be a benefit antique car show for Officer George Rader from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Bridge Church, 279 Dairy Road, Poca. Registration starts at 9 a.m. and is $15 per entry.
  • Harmons Creek Church of the Nazarene, 360 Harmons Creek Road, Poca, will be holding a women’s banquet 11 a.m. Women and girls of all ages welcome.
  • The Winfield Nazarene Church, 10822 Winfield Road, will be holding a food pantry from 9 a.m. to noon.
  • Teays Valley Church of God, Connection Point, Scott Depot, will be hosting a painting fundraiser for Appalachian Angels from 1 to 3 p.m. The cost is $35 per person. For more information, call (304) 757-9222.
  • The Hurricane First Church of God, 3225 East Putnam Avenue, Hurricane, will be holding a yard sale from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.
  • Lighthouse Baptist Church, Route 60, Hurricane, will be holding a food pantry from 9 to 11 a.m.
  • There will be a flea market parking lot sale at Valley Vintage, 404B Midland Trail, Hurricane, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • The second annual Jeepers Invade Hurricane event will start at 10 a.m. at the Putnam County Bank parking lot behind the Hurricane McDonalds. All Jeeps are welcome.

  • There will be special singing at 6 p.m. at Community Tabernacle, 11050 McLane Pike, Liberty.

MAY 12, 19

  • Stop by at Area 34, 971 WV Route 34, Teays Valley, from 9 to 11 a.m. for coffee and a free insurance quote from Brightway Insurance, The Mays Agency.

MAY 12

  • Paint an image of the state of West Virginia with a sunset and black bear from 6 to 8 p.m. at Coffee With a Twist, 101 Main Avenue, Nitro.

MAY 13

  • Putnam CREW will be hosting a professional development seminar from noon to 1 p.m. at Area 34, 971 WV Route 34, Hurricane. For more information and to register, go to https://members.putnamchamber.org/events
  • There will be a free line dancing class at 7:30 p.m. at Brookse’s Bar and Grill, 13184 Winfield Road, Winfield.

MAY 14

  • There will be a session on “Taming the Houseplant Jungle” at 10 a.m. at the Eleanor Library.
    Sergio’s Cucina Italiana and Steaks, 2801 Main Street, Hurricane, will be holding Gilmore Girls trivia startng at 7 p.m.

MAY 16

  • The Pulse Church, 5368 WV Route 34, Winfield, will be holding Come Let Us Adore Him, a night of worship, starting at 6:30 p.m.
  • Christ Community Church, 733 Rocky Step Road, Scott Depot, will be holding Wonder Junction Jamboree for children and families from 6 to 8 p.m. Carnival games, bounce house, activities, and more.
  • There will be an American Red Cross Blood Drive from 12:00—5:00 p.m. at Forrest Burdette Fellowship Hall, Putnam Avenue, Hurricane. Register at RedCrossBlood.org and enter HURRICANECOM.
  • The Wagenfolks VW Club will be holding a Bug Out Cruz-In for VW Bugs from 6 p.m. until dark at the Putnam County Bank parking lot behind McDonalds in Hurricane.

MAY 17

  • Historical Square Community Church, 20058 Buffalo Road, will be holding their annual craft event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
