Community Calendar for Week of June 19

NOW THROUGH THE END OF OCTOBER

  • The Putnam County Farmer’s Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the field beside Exxon, across from the Putnam County Library in Teays Valley.
  • The County Roads Farmers’ Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane.

FRIDAYS IN JUNE

  • Food Truck Friday will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hurricane City Park.

NOW – JUNE 21

  • The First Baptist Church of Eleanor, 901 Roosevelt Road, will be holding Vacation Bible School from 6 to 8:30 p.m. nightly.
  • There will be a Clear the Clutter Goodwill fundraiser for Hurricane Nazarene Youth. Bring clothing and small household donations to the trailer at the Hurricane First Church of the Nazarene, located on Route 60.

NOW – JUNE 20

  • Buffalo Church of the Nazarene, 25053 Buffalo Road, will be holding Everyday Heroes Vacation Bible School from 6:30 to 8:3 p.m. nightly.
  • Sycamore Missionary Baptist Church, 5839 Scyamore Road, Hurricane, will be holding True North Vacation Bible School from 6:30 to 8 p.m. nightly.
  • Bethel Baptist Church, located on Hurricane Creek Road, will be holding Vacation Bible School. Dinner at 6 p.m. with classes for all ages, including adults, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. nightly.

JUNE 19

  • Friends of Buffalo WV History will gather together at 7 p.m. at the Historical Square Community Church. The subject of the meeting is “The Father of Buffalo,” Benjamin K. Craig.
  • The Salt and Light Food Pantry will be open from 11 a.m. to noon at the Winfield Nazarene Church, 10822 Winfield Road.
  • There will be a Jumps and Turns workshop for dancers ages 10 and up from 10 a.m. to noon at the Macholah Ballet, 6422 Teays Valley Road, Scott Depot, from 10 a.m. to noon. For more information, go to https://www.facebook.com/themacholahballet
  • There will be a Homeschool Teen Social from noon to 2:30 p.m. at Waves of Fun in Hurricane.
  • There will be an ultraviolet mushroom hunt starting at 8 p.m. at Meeks Mountain Trails. Meet up at the big red barn at Hurricane City Park.

  • The West Virginia Farm Museum, 1458 Fairground Road, Point Pleasant, will be hosting the Gravely Mow In.

  • The WV Pumpkin Festival and the City of Milton will be holding a WV Day Celebration at the Pumpkin Park starting at 5 p.m. There will be a cruise-in, and fireworks a dark.
  • Celebrate West Virginia Day with a Fitness Friday walk at the Amherest/Plymouth trail starting at 10 a.m. The address is 6360 Charleston Road, Red House, but the trailhead is actually just north of Bancroft on WV 62.
  • The Macholah Ballet, 6422 Teays Valley Road, Scott Depot, will be holding an adult/teen “Dancing in the Rain” drop in jazz class at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $10.
  • Comedian Arizona Lou will be coming to the Hurricane VFW 9097 Canteen, 3836 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane, at 7 p.m. for his Veterans Appreciation Tour.
  • The Wagenfolks VW Club will be holding a Bug Out Cruz-In for VW Bugs from 6 p.m. until dark at the Putnam County Bank parking lot behind McDonalds in Hurricane.

JUNE 21

  • There will be community yard sales on Red House Hill starting at 8 a.m. Areas include McLane Pike, Antioch Road, Liberty, Bowles Ridge, Scott Ridge, Grandview Ridge, Steele Ridge, Buck Lick (Broncho), and Crown Hill.
  • Branson Tolliver and Jason Jobe will be performing at 9 p.m. at Putnam County Moose Lodge #2729, located in Putnam Village Shopping Center in Teays Valley.
  • Cops N Rodders Classic Car Club will be holding a cruise-in from 5 p.m. to dusk at the Putnam County Bank parking lot behind the Hurricane McDonalds.

JUNE 22

  • There will be a flea market parking lot sale from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Valley Vintage, 404B Midland Trail, Hurricane.
  • The Guardians will be in concert at 6 p.m. at Hurricane First Church of the Nazarene, located on Route 60.

JUNE 23 – 27

  • First Missionary Baptist Church of Culloden, 2059 Church Street, will be holding World Soccer Champions Vacation Bible School at 7 p.m. nightly.
  • Lighthouse Baptist Church, Route 60, Hurricane, will be holding Magnified Vacation Bible School from 6 to 8 p.m. nightly.

  • Christ Community Church, 733 Rocky Step Road, Scott Depot, will be holding Wonder Junction Vacation Bible School for children ages 3-12 from 5:45 to 8:30 p.m. nightly.

  • The West Virginia Department of Natural Resources will be hosting an outdoor classroom at noon at Shelter 6 in the park behind the Eleanor Library.
  • Sea and Salt Art and Culinary Show will be held from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at The Garage, 3057 Mount Vernon Road, Hurricane. Check out local West Virginia artists and eat great food.

JUNE 25 – 29

  • Harvest Chapel, 480 Upward Way, Red House, will be holding a church camp for third grade through seniors in high school.

JUNE 25

  • Summer Nights and Open Mics will be held at Nitro Living Memorial Park, Second Avenue and 21st Street. There will be a pop-up market in addition to an open mic event for musicians, poets, and comedians. Stage opens at 7 p.m.
  • There will be a workshop on making marbleized art paper from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for kids and teens at the Eleanor Library.

JUNE 26 – 28

  • “Return to Pentecost,” a revival, will be held at 7 p.m. nightly at Living Water Ministries, 120 Blackwood Avenue, Nitro.

  • There will be an adult craft – canvas painting – at 5:30 p.m. at the Nitro Library.
  • The Putnam County Chamber of Commerce will be holding Business After Hours from 5 to 7 p.m. at Valley Health, 3729 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane.
  • The monthly Night Market – featuring vendors, food trucks, and local bands – will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane. This month’s theme will be Kids’ Night.

  • Walmart Vision will be offering their services at 3 p.m. at Winfield Senior Nutrition Site, 178 Second Street, Winfield.
  • Fitness Friday: The Putnam County Library is hosting Yoga For All Ages at 10 a.m. at Moxie Fitness, 3981R Teays Valley Road, Scott Depot.
