DANNY ‘BUGGY’ ARTHUR
Danny Lee “Buggy” Arthur, 81, of Bancroft, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at Hubbard Hospice House West.
Buggy attended Bancroft Mission. He loved to visit and talk to people. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and visiting the beach in the summer. He was employed by Union Carbide-Dow for 21 years,
He is preceded in death by his parents Herman Sr. and Bessie Arthur, 5 brothers and 3 sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Mary Ann Steele Arthur, son Danny L. Arthur Jr., daughter Amy and husband Grant Walker, brother Dorrel “Peachie” Arthur, grandchildren Evan Walker, Kathryn Walker and a host of nieces and nephews.
A tribute to the life of Buggy was held Monday, June 16, 2025 at Bancroft Mission with Pastor Jimmy Legg and Frank Allen officiating. Burial was in Schowen Cemetery.

WILLIAM ‘RANDY’ CAMDEN
William Randolph “Randy” Camden, 80, of Winfield, went to be with our Heavenly Father on June 9, 2025 at Hubbard Hospice House Charleston.
Randy was born July 12, 1944 to the late Eugene and Lucille Camden. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Danny Camden, Larry, Jimmy, and Jerry Johnson; and his in-laws Eugene and Jackie Brown.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Rita Camden; son, Chris Camden (Robyn); granddaughter’s: Micaela Watson (Jacob) and Meagan Camden; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
Randy graduated from Oakvale High School (WV) in 1962. He served in the US Airforce in France as an Air Traffic Controller and was retired from AEP where he worked at Glen Lyn Power Plant and John Amos Power Plant. He was a member of Christ Community Church in Scott Depot, WV and had a love for Christ and spreading the gospel to all he met, often times with a Bible in hand to give to those he spoke with. Along with his love for family, he had a special connection with Winfield athletics. Randy took great pride cheering on the athletes and watching them excel in their love of sports. He didn’t know a stranger when it came to his community. We take comfort in knowing that one day we will be reunited in heaven.
Graveside service with Military Honors was Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Dunbar, with Pastor Michael Hurlbert officiating.

LORA DENNY
Lora Miller Denny, 58, of Hurricane, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2025 after a short battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Lora fought the good fight and is now resting with the Angels above.
She is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, James “Lee” Denny Jr., children Amber Riley (Craig) of Bridgeport, Dylan Denny of Hurricane, and Cassandra WilliamsonDailey (Evan) of Hurricane. Also surviving are parentsCarla Alberts, formerly of Cincinnati, OH, Richard and Ruth Miller of Dunbar, sister and dear friend Sherry McMillon of Dunbar, nieces Morgan Reed (Alex) and Haley McMillon, four special grandchildren Evie, Jack, Lydia & Alaina along with her two four legged boys – Max and Bentley.
Lora loved her family fiercely, that love extended to both her friends and community. She enjoyed traveling, shopping and celebrating life. Her positivity, high energy and love will not be forgotten.
Services were at Allen Funeral Home in Hurricane on Thursday, June 12.

JIMMY BUFORD GRANT
Jimmy B. Grant, 81, of Hurricane, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025, at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis, OH, after an extended illness.
He was born June 7, 1944, to the late Mervin Allen and Vonda Irene Grant. In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his sisters: Ima McDaniel, Shirley Whitt, Patty Lewis, and Diane Persinger.
He honorably served his country for 28 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant with the West Virginia Army National Guard. Following his military service, he continued his career in the auto sales industry for over a decade. He attended Hurricane schools and was a graduate of the University of Charleston.
Jimmy is survived by his children: Angela D. Jones (Chris) of Hurricane, and Gregory L. Grant (Michelle) of Huntington; grandchildren: Jimmy Grant of Charlotte, NC; Joseph Grant of Huntington; and Julie Dean (Andrew) of Knoxville, TN; brother, Billy Grant (Mary Jane) of Columbus, OH; sisters: Carolyn Stanley of Southside; and Deb Grant Forth of Hurricane; brother-in-law and caregiver, John Lewis of Hurricane, and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service for Jimmy was held Friday, June 13, 2025, at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane, with Pastor Tony Mays officiating.

GILBERT O. JIVIDEN
Gilbert O. Jividen, 85, of Leon, passed away Friday, June 13, 2025 at Hubbard Hospice House West at Thomas Memorial Hospital. He was a longtime member Manilla Chapel Church and was a member of the Laborers Union. He loved his family dearly and will be greatly missed.
Born March 11, 1940, he was the son of the late Carl Jividen and Malinda Sayre Jividen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Nancy Tucker Jividen; son, Dwayne Jividen; sisters, Clara (Avery) Jividen, Norma Lee (Gene) Curtiss, Phyllis (Donald) Raynes; brothers, Warren (Lorrine) Jividen, Guy (Ruth) Jividen, Ottis Jividen, Jerald Jividen, Donald (Roberta) and Dencil (Josephine) Jividen. Gilbert was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Doris Jean Jividen.
Survivors include; daughters, Brenda Gail Jividen (Russ Shough) and Tammy (“Tiny”) Jordan; grandchildren, Danny O. Tucker, Nathan (Brittany) Jordan, Malinda Jordan, Cassy Hunter, Allen Jordan; great grandchildren, Brieanne (Jake) Harris, Harleigh Casto, Haleigh Casto, Dakota Jordan, Evelynn Hunter, Jordan Hunter and Zackary Hunter; great great grandchild, Lilah Mae McFann and Amiyha McFann; sister in laws, Cora Jean Jividen and Louise Jividen. Gilbert is also survived by several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Funeral service was Thursday, June 19, 2025 at Raynes Funeral Home, Buffalo, with Rev. Randy Parsons officiating. Burial was in Manilla Chapel Cemetery, Robertsburg.

BETTY LEAH JOYCE
Betty Leah Joyce, 95, of Scott Depot, entered into the presence of the Lord on June 9, 2025.
She was born July 30, 1929, to the late John and Grace Gandee in Charleston. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband of 24 years, Jack Joyce; her second husband of 25 joyful years, Hobie Joyce; and her beloved children: John “Bill”, Jack “Steve”, and Sandra Lynn Joyce.
A devoted follower of Christ, Betty lived a life rooted in faith, love, and service to others. Her gentle spirit, kind heart, and unwavering devotion to her family touched all who knew her.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Jodi Stover, daughters-in- law: Becky Orem, Kimberly Joyce, Flossie Bunker, and Debbie Joyce; cherished grandchildren: Jennifer Joyce Priddy, Jackie Bass (Joel); LeeAnna Wilson, Lindsay Joyce, Joshua Stover (Tabitha Erwin), Jacki Joyce, Katie Evans, and Jack Joyce (Tatie). Her joy only grew with the blessing of seven great-grandchildren: Jaysa, Tanner, Chance, JW, Willow, Oak, and Jaylea- each one bringing light, laughter, and love into her days.
Betty found peace and purpose in tending her garden, caring for her beloved dogs: Tinker and Bella, and, most of all, being surrounded by her family. Her warmth, strength, and steadfast faith formed the foundation upon which generations were built and hearts were shaped.

CLAYTON RICHARD LOVEJOY
Clayton Richard Lovejoy (Rick), age 74, of Hurricane, passed away Thursday morning, June 12, at 5:02 a.m. at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, surrounded by family. He was born in Charleston on April 14, 1951, to Claude and Imogene Lovejoy. He attended school in Hurricane and graduated from Hurricane High School in 1969.
On July 22, 1970, he began his service with the United States Navy as a radio operator stationed on the Gearing-class destroyer, the U.S.S. Rich, during Vietnam. Clayton was honorably discharged in 1974. He earned a Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, and National Defense Service Medal. After serving his country, he started working at Appalachian Power Central Machine Shop in South Charleston as a machinist in 1976. He retired in 2010.Rick Lovejoy had been a musician since high school. He was a singer, guitar player, bass player, and songwriter. He recorded a CD of his songs in 1989. Rick Lovejoy moved to Trace Creek Road in 1999, where he remained until his death.
He is survived by his wife, Darla Lovejoy, and their children, Alexis Kaye Bush and Ava Mae Ann Bush; his son, Jon Christian Lovejoy, and his wife, Jamie Lovejoy, and grandson, Oaklyn Christian Lovejoy; stepchildren, Dana (DJ) Higginbotham and Brandy Higginbotham, Andrea Beth Tucker, Lana Sierra Tucker, and her husband, Shawn Bush; Rick was the best little brother to Patsy Jean Lovejoy Boggs, Claudia Lovejoy Stowers, and Janie Lovejoy Holton.
Rick Lovejoy’s cremains will be interred in ground with Navy honors on Friday, July 18, 2:00 PM at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton, West Virginia. A celebration of life will be held at a future date with friends and family.

David Moore
David Lewis Moore, 33, born and raised in Hurricane, passed away on June 8, 2025.
David is preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles Lewis Moore, Lewis Keith Moore, Rita Moore, and Rita Alexander-Perry.
David is survived by his wife, Kaitlyn and his three children: Ryan Bentley, Easton Lewis, and Kinslee Raelynn. His parents, Jeff and Kristy Moore, Brother, Justin Moore (Rae), Aunts Veronica Moore, Kathy Culicerto (Danny), and Meliss Bowles, Great Aunt Marylynn Shultz (Bill), Uncle David Perry (Bill). Niece Kylee Moore. So many special cousins and friends who were more like family.
David was a free-spirited soul who loved his family deeply. He was an amazing welder and gardener (he could make anything grow). Damnit David would always say refuse to live your life in fear.
Memorial service was held Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Allen Funeral Home with Pastor Rick McCallister officiating.

DORIS SOVINE
Doris (Sissy) Sovine 88, of Winfield, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on June 14, 2025.
She was born on November 26, 1936, to the late James Franklin and Hester Briscoe. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Delmar Sovine; granddaughter, Rikki Jo Cook; sister, Ruth Hinchey; and brothers: Jimmy, Billy, and Dorsel Briscoe.
She was a full-time homemaker who enjoyed painting, crafting, canning, gardening and singing, but more than anything she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also a children’s Sunday school teacher for over 20 years and enjoyed working with children.
Doris is survived by her children: Linda Sovine, Victor (Tonya) Sovine, Cathy Cook and Gregory (Carissa) Sovine all of Winfield, WV; as well as 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 7 siblings.
Funeral service was Wednesday June 18, 2025 at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane, with Rev. Dr. Aaron Cook officiating. Burial was in Culloden Community Cemetery, Hurricane

Barbara Ann Wallace
Barbara A. Wallace, 85, of Hurricane, went home to be with the Lord on June 9, 2025.
She was born to the late Clay and Irene Carroll on May 16, 1940 in Hurricane. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband Orville V. Wallace, and 4 siblings.
She retired as a traveling CNA and was a member of AddaBaptist Church. She loved spending time with her family and church family.
Barbara is survived by her children: Virgil (Lisa) Wallace, Debbie (Tim) Mangum, Pamela (Todd) Fancett, Zelma (Kevin) Ashworth and John (Suzy) Wallace; grandchildren: Courtney, Kara, Dakota, Shelly, James, Ann, Amber and Kelsey; great-grandchildren: Jubilee, Marshall, Mila, Roman, Landyn, Brooklynne, Amos, Emma, Myra, Jude, Leah, and baby Atlas arriving in October.
Service for Barbara was Wednesday, June 11, 2025. Burial was in Neal Cemetery, Milton.

Frances K. (Beller) White
Frances Kay (Beller) White, 82, of Hurricane, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2025. A 1960 graduate of Dunbar High School, she loved working in flowers, loved to travel, and had visited 45 of our 50 states in her lifetime. Frances was a Christian, and a member of the Buffalo Church of God, and the Women of the Church of God.
Born January 12, 1943, she was the daughter of the late William “Bill” Beller and Marguerite Fisher Beller. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Derry Jones, Paul Welch, and David White; a daughter, Tiauanna Cadle; and a great-grandaughter, Rihanna Cadle.
Survivors include her daughter, Melissa (Larry) Burns of Scott Depot; granddaughter, Jessica (Shawn) Hoffman of Navarre, Ohio; grandson, Christopher (Lizeth) Cadle of Nitro; great-grandchildren, Katie Hoffman, Olivia Hoffman, Alexander Cadle, Jacob Cadle, and Tiauanna Cadle; sister, Juanita (Belford) Jividen of Buffalo; sister-in-law, Jean (David) Mikles of Ocoee, Florida; as well as many nieces, cousins, extended family and friends.
Funeral service was Saturday, June 14, 2025 at the Buffalo Church of God, Buffalo, with Pastor Mitchell Burch officiating. Inurnment was Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at Valley View Memorial Park, Hurricane.

Shirley Marie Wright
Shirley M. Wright, 44, of Hurricane, passed away unexpectedly on June 9, 2025 at home.
She was born to Carolyn and the late John Wright on October 30, 1980 in Hempstead, New York. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her brothers: William and John Wright; her beloved cat, Peaches; and a special niece whom she loved dearly, Ashley Wright.
Shirley loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was always full of personality and never turned down a chance to put up a good argument.
She is survived by her daughter, Anna Marie Wright (Johnathan Castro); grandchildren: Kylian Wright and Desmond Castro; and her beloved cat, Frankie.
