Community Calendar for Week of July 17

NOW THROUGH THE END OF OCTOBER

  • The Putnam County Farmer’s Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the field beside Exxon, across from the Putnam County Library in Teays Valley.
  • The County Roads Farmers’ Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane.

  • Food Truck Friday will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hurricane City Park.

  • The Putnam County Fair will be held at the Eleanor Fairgrounds.

JULY 17

  • The Macholah Ballet, 6422 Teays Valley Road, Scott Depot, will be holding an adult/teen “Christmas in July” drop in jazz class at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $10.
  • Business After Hours sponsored by the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce will be hosted by Triad Engineering as part of their 50 Year Anniversary Celebration. This event will take place at the Valley Park Conference Center. To RSVP, call 304-757-6510.

JULY 18

  • The Nitro Fishing Tournament will be held at Ridenour Lake. Registration starts at 4:30 p.m. and the event lasts all night.
  • River Bottoms to Ridgelines – Native Regimens for Wildlife workshop will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:3 p.m. at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Biodiversity Trail Picnic Shelter in Buffalo. To RSVP, call 681-451-0458.
  • Fitness Friday: Escape into nature at the Toyota Biodiversity Trail just outside of the Toyota Manufacturing Plant in Buffalo at 10 a.m.
  • The Hurricane Hundred K Twilight Trainer and Tailgate will start at 8 p.m. at Meeks Mountain Trails. Meet up at the red barn at Hurricane City Park.
  • There will be an American Red Cross Blood Drive from noon to 5:00 p.m. at Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church, Putnam Avenue, Hurricane.
  • The Wagenfolks VW Club will be holding a Bug Out Cruz-In for VW Bugs from 6 p.m. until dark at the Putnam County Bank parking lot behind McDonalds in Hurricane.

JULY 19

  • Branson Tolliver will be performing at 9 p.m. at Putnam County Moose Lodge, located in Putnam Village Shopping Center, Teays Valley.
  • There will be a summer craft market from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Garage, 3057 Mount Vernon Road, Scott Depot.
  • Creekside Church, 488 Charleys Creek Road, Culloden, will be holding Bible Study and S’mores starting at 6 p.m.
  • Cops N Rodders Classic Car Club will be holding a cruise-in from 5 p.m. to dusk at the Putnam County Bank parking lot behind the Hurricane McDonalds.

  • There will be a Goodwill donation drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Piggly Wiggly in Eleanor.

  • Oma Chapel, 2358 Charleston Road, Leon, will be holding Camp ConTENTment Vacation Bible School from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. nightly.

  • Hurricane First Church of the Nazarene, 358 US Route 60, will be holding True North Vacation Bible School from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

  • John’s Cyclery will be holding their monthly mountain bike ride from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Ridenour Lake in Nitro. Meet up at the trailhead beside the pump track.

JULY 21

  • There will be a ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration from 2 to 4 p.m. at Studio LM Spa, 971 WV Route 34, Teays Valley.

  • Superchemist Heather Henson from Arclin Amines will be presenting an educational, and maybe messy, chemistry experiment at the Poca Library at 10 a.m.
  • There will be a free line dancing class at 7:30 p.m. at Brookse’s Bar and Grill, 13184 Winfield Road, Winfield.
  • Tri-It-Tuesday: There will be a triathlon of activities at Hurricane City Park. 5 p.m. – Hike to Meeks Mountain Trails; 6 p.m. – Stand Up Paddleboarding at the Hurricane Reservoir; 7:15 p.m. – Beginner Paddleboard Yoga.
