Community Calendar for Week of August 14

NOW THROUGH THE END OF OCTOBER

  • The Putnam County Farmer’s Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the field beside Exxon, across from the Putnam County Library in Teays Valley.
  • The County Roads Farmers’ Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane.

AUGUST 14

  • There will be a ladies’ board game night from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Winfield Nazarene Church, 10822 Winfield Road.
  • Putnam Aging will hold its 2025 Senior Picnic from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane. The theme will be the Groovy 70’s.

AUGUST 15 – 16

  • Hillbilly Days Fair will be held at the Lincoln County Memorial Fairgrounds in Hamlin.
  • Homestead Days – Eleanor’s 90th Anniversary Celebration – will be held in Eleanor.

AUGUST 15

  • The Nitro Fishing Tournament will be held at Ridenour Lake. Registration starts at 4:30 p.m. and the event lasts all night.
  • There will be an Eleanor Community Pool Party starting at 6 p.m. with a 5K, live music, games, and more.
  • The Meeks Mountain Trails Slush Fun Run Hike and Bike will start at 6 p.m. Meet up at the big red barn at Hurricane City Park.
  • Poolside Pages will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane. Admission is $5. Come read or relax for an evening of self care. Adults only.
  • The Wagenfolks VW Club will be holding a Bug Out Cruz-In for VW Bugs from 6 p.m. until dark at the Putnam County Bank parking lot behind McDonalds in Hurricane.

AUGUST 16

  • Lone Oak Church of God Mission, 1303 Mclane Pike, Red House, will be hosting a Back to School Bash at 6 p.m.
  • Nitro First Presbyterian, 111 21st Street, Nitro, will be holding a rummage and hot dog sale starting at 8 a.m.
  • Bake My Day, 14 Bank Street, Nitro, will be hosting an introductory crochet class at 4 p.m. The cost is $20 per person.
  • Visual Volume Boosters will be hosting their 4th annual designer purse bingo at Poca High School. Doors open at 4:30 p.m.; games begin at 6 p.m. Tickets at the door day of the event are $30.
  • History Alive presents Minnie Reed at 11 a.m. at the Eleanor Library.
  • A vendor fair to benefit George Washington Elementary music program will be held upstairs at the Eleanor Fire Department.
  • The Winfield High School Band Boosters will be holding their annual rummage sale starting at 8 a.m. at the school.
  • The Winfield High School Band Boosters will be holding their inaugural car show starting at 9 a.m. at the school.
  • There will be a free beginner kids and family karate workshop at 11 a.m. at Pinnacle Karate Center, 153 Commerce Drive, Hurricane.
  • The Last Summer Get Together Hurricane High Class of 1982 will start at 1 p.m. at Hurricane High School. Dinner at 4 p.m.
  • Cops N Rodders Classic Car Club will be holding a cruise-in from 5 p.m. to dusk at the Putnam County Bank parking lot behind the Hurricane McDonalds.

AUGUST 17

  • Sycamore Independent Missionary Baptist Church, 5839 Sycamore Road, Hurricane, will be holding their 136th annual homecoming at noon.

AUGUST 18

  • The Women’s Club of Nitro will be holding their August meeting at 6 p.m. at the clubhouse located at 2205 2nd Avenue and 23rd Street, Nitro.

AUGUST 19
