NOW THROUGH THE END OF OCTOBER

  • The Putnam County Farmer’s Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the field beside Exxon, across from the Putnam County Library in Teays Valley.
  • The County Roads Farmers’ Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane.

AUGUST 28

  • Moms Connect of Hurricane at River Ridge Church will be holding an open house at 10 a.m. at River Ridge, 1 Saturn Way, Hurricane. Moms with children ages 0-5 welcome.

AUGUST 29 – 31

  • Rally in the Valley, an ultimate hybrid sports competition, will be held at Valley Park in Hurricane. For more information, go to https://pr.fit/event/rally2025

  • First Missionary Baptist Church, 3050 Church Street, Culloden, will be holding their first Back to School Youth Rally at 6:30 p.m.
  • American Pro Wrestling Debuts at the Teays Valley VFW Post #9097, 3836 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 at the door.

AUGUST 30

  • Buffalo Church of the Nazarene, 25053 Buffalo Road, will be holding a men’s prayer breakfast at 8 a.m.
  • Peoples Federal Credit Union in Nitro will be holding a free community shred day from 9 a.m. to noon.
  • There will be a women’s clothing swap from 1 to 4 p.m. at Bake My Day, 14 Bank Street, Nitro. Bring 10 items of new or gently used women’s clothing and trade for something else.
  • The Town of Bancroft will bold their annual town picnic from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • The Putnam County Animal Shelter, 12908 Charleston Road, Red House, will be holding a Sizzle and Sunshine Picnic from 2 to 6 p.m. Food, fun, games, and more.
  • The Elk River Boots and Saddle Club will be holding their August horse show starting at 1 p.m. at the Winfield Riding Club.

AUGUST 31
There will be Labor Day fireworks starting at 9:30 p.m. at the St. Albans Roadside Park.

  • Wade Chapel Church, 4490 McLane Pike, Red House, will have a 5th Sunday Evening Service, beginning at 7 p,m. Special Singing by the Buffalo Methodist Church.

SEPTEMBER 4

  • Cub Scout Pack 236 will be holding a recruiting event from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church, 2848 Putnam Avenue, Hurricane.

SEPTEMBER 6 – 7

  • HurriCon, a pop culture convention benefiting the American Cancer Society, will be held at Valley Park in Hurricane Vendors, board games, eSports, special guests and more. To purchase tickets, go to http://hurriconwv.com

  • The West Virginia Farm Museum, 1458 Fairground Road, Point Pleasant, will be holding an antique tractor pull starting at 11 a.m.
  • The Buffalo High School Music Boosters will be hosting benefit bingo at the school. Doors open at 4; games begin at 5 p.m. Price is $35 at the door.
  • There will be a side-by-side ride in honor of Austin Mayo; meet at Caleb’s Bar and Grill, Route 62, Buffalo, at 11 a.m. to register. The cost is $10 per person. There will be a spaghetti dinner afterwards.
  • Boomtown Day will be held in Nitro. There will be food vendors and musical performances at the Living Memorial Park.
  • The Nitro Antique Car Club will be holding a cruise-in starting at 5 p.m. on Second Street.
  • There will be a tire collection from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. beside Payne’s Produce in Winfield.
  • Master Gardener Kathy Talley will be at the Putnam County Main Library in Teays Valley at 11 a.m. to discuss jams and jellies.
  • Jay Humphreys Trio will be holding their 20th Anniversary Celebration at 6 p.m. at the Teays Valley Church of the Nazarene, 3937 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane. Featuring special guest Chosen Road.

  • There will be an immersive nature hike with Andy McKee at noon at Meeks Mountain Trails. Meet up at the big red barn at Hurricane City Park.
