NOW THROUGH THE END OF OCTOBER

  • The Putnam County Farmer’s Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the field beside Exxon, across from the Putnam County Library in Teays Valley.
  • The County Roads Farmers’ Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane.

SEPTEMBER 4

  • Cub Scout Pack 236 will be holding a recruiting event from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church, 2848 Putnam Avenue, Hurricane.

SEPTEMBER 5

  • There will be a board game night from 6 to 10:30 p.m. at Game Grove, located in Putnam Village Shopping Center in Teays Valley.
  • The next Business Before Business sponsored by the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce will be hosted at 9 a.m. by Rate, 97 Chase Drive, Hurricane.

SEPTEMBER 6 – 7

  • The Harmons Creek Church of the Nazarene, 710 Harmons Creek Road, Poca, will be holding their homecoming. On Saturday there will be music, food and an outdoor movie from 5 to 10 p.m. On Sunday, there will be a gospel sing, food, and service from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • HurriCon, a pop culture convention benefiting the American Cancer Society, will be held at Valley Park in Hurricane Vendors, board games, eSports, special guests and more. To purchase tickets, go to http://hurriconwv.com

SEPTEMBER 6

  • The West Virginia Farm Museum, 1458 Fairground Road, Point Pleasant, will be holding an antique tractor pull starting at 11 a.m.
  • The Buffalo High School Music Boosters will be hosting benefit bingo at the school. Doors open at 4; games begin at 5 p.m. Price is $35 at the door.
  • There will be a side-by-side ride in honor of Austin Mayo; meet at Caleb’s Bar and Grill, Route 62, Buffalo, at 11 a.m. to register. The cost is $10 per person. There will be a spaghetti dinner afterwards.
  • Boomtown Day will be held in Nitro. There will be food vendors and musical performances at the Living Memorial Park.
  • There will be a beginner crochet class at 4 p.m. at Bake My Day, 14 Bank Street, Nitro. The cost is $20 per person. To register, call (304) 651-2584.
  • The Nitro Antique Car Club will be holding a cruise-in starting at 5 p.m. on Second Street.
  • There will be a tire collection from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. beside Payne’s Produce in Winfield.
  • Master Gardener Kathy Talley will be at the Putnam County Main Library in Teays Valley at 11 a.m. to discuss jams and jellies.
  • Jay Humphreys Trio will be holding their 20th Anniversary Celebration at 6 p.m. at the Teays Valley Church of the Nazarene, 3937 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane. Featuring special guest Chosen Road.

  • There will be an immersive nature hike with Andy McKee at noon at Meeks Mountain Trails. Meet up at the big red barn at Hurricane City Park.

  • Rock Branch Independent Church, 133 Cross Lanes Drive, Nitro, will be holding Food and Fellowship at 6:30 p.m. Everyone invited.
  • A chess club for kids and teens will be meeting from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Putnam County Main Library, 4219 WV Route 34, Teays Valley.
