Community Calendar for Week of September 11

NOW – NOVEMBER 1

  • Fear on the Farm, 8325 Winfield Road, Winfield, is open for the season on Fridays and Saturdays from 7 p.m. to midnight. For more information, call 681-203-3683.

NOW THROUGH THE END OF OCTOBER

  • The Putnam County Farmer’s Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the field beside Exxon, across from the Putnam County Library in Teays Valley.
  • The County Roads Farmers’ Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane.

SEPTEMBER 11 – 12
There will be an indoor yard sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Putnam Aging, 2558 Winfield Road, St. Albans.

SEPTEMBER 11

  • There will be a Mothers’ Night of Prayer from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Faith Christian Fellowship, 54 Krystal Lane, Buffalo.
  • American Legion Post 187 will be holding a 9/11 ceremony at 10 a.m. on the steps of the Putnam County Courthouse in Winfield.
  • Cub Scout Pack 236 will be holding a recruiting event from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church, 2848 Putnam Avenue, Hurricane.

SEPTEMBER 12 – 13

  • The Fall Vintage Market vendor fair will be held from 10 am. to 5 p.m. at 401 Midland Trail, Hurricane.

SEPTEMBER 12

  • The first Friends of Old Time Music and Dance (FOOTMAD) event of the season will start at 7 p.m. at Kanawha United Presbyterian Church, 1009 Virginia Street E, Charleston. Admission is $7. Appalachian circle, square, and contra dance.
  • Unbridled Pony Camp for Ages 5 – 8 will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at Horseshoe Heaven on Smith Farm, 121 Banjo Lane, Scott Depot. The cost is $75. For more information, call 304-543-1024.
  • There will be a board game night from 6 to 10:30 p.m. at Game Grove, located in Putnam Village Shopping Center in Teays Valley.

  • The Flatrock Volunteer Fire Department 4th Annual Trailblazin Fundraisin ATV/UTV Ride will start at 9 am. at 3673 Evans Road, Leon.
  • The Walgreens 3rd Annual Cruise In and Car Show will be held from noon to 4 p.m. at the Eleanor Walgreens. The cost is $10 per car.
  • The Town of Bancroft will be having a town clean-up at the community park starting at 7 a.m. until 11 a.m. or until the trucks are full.
  • There will be a car show fundraiser for Teays Valley Lions Athletics from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Teays Valley Christian School, 6562 Teays Valley Road, Scott Depot. There is a $15 registration fee for each vehicle.
  • Teays Valley Christian School, 6562 Teays Valley Road, Scott Depot, will be holding a harvest festival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • There will be a Dice Worlds learn to play event at 6 p.m. at Game Grove, located in Putnam Village Shopping Center in Teays Valley.
  • Lighthouse Baptist Church, located on Route 60 in Hurricane, will be holding a food pantry from 9 to 11 a.m.
  • The Hurricane Recycling Center, located on Midland Trail, will be open for Recycle Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Chipper available.

SEPTEMBER 14 – 18

  • There will be a tent revival at 6:30 p.m. nightly at Red House Bible Church, 51 Warner Lane. Special singing each night.

SEPTEMBER 14

  • Given Flower Company, 224 Pleasant Valley Road, Given, will be holding a gentle yoga session with crystal singing bowls and pick your own flowers from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The cost is $30. For registration info, call (304) 532-2303.
  • Hometown Apostolic Church will be holding their annual church picnic at 11 a.m. at the Eleanor Park, Shelter 5.
  • Bancroft Mission will be holding a cornhole tournament at noon at the Bancroft Community Park. For more information, call (304) 586-9776.
  • John’s Cyclery’s Monthly Mountain Bike Ride will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. at Ridenour Park in Nitro. Meet up at the trailhead beside the pump track.
  • There will be a Suicide Awareness Conference from 6 to 8 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane. This event is hosted by Nitro Church of the Nazarene.
  • Hurricane First Church of the Nazarene, 358 US Route 60, will be holding a youth pie auction fundraiser starting at 7 p.m.
  • There will be a launch event for Dice Worlds, a new game by a local creator, at 1 p.m. at the Board Room, located behind the Hurricane Walmart.

SEPTEMBER 15

  • There will be a geneology meet-up from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Putnam County Main Library in Teays Valley.

SEPTEMBER 17 – 20

  • The Nitro Antique Car Club Fall Swap Meet will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday through Friday, and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday at the Winfield Riding Club.

SEPTEMBER 19

  • WVSU is offering a free AgriBusiness Workshop at Eleanor Library from 10 a.m. – noon.
  • There will be a Back to School Bash High School Homeschool Dance from 6 to 9 p.m. at The Garage, 3057 Mt. Vernon Road, Hurricane. The cost is $20 per person. For more information, email theresakoon@gmail.com
  • The Wagenfolks VW Club will be holding a Bug Out Cruz-In for VW Bugs from 6 p.m. until dark at the Putnam County Bank parking lot behind McDonalds in Hurricane.
