Putnam’s Annual Homecoming Tradition Now 96 Years Old

The Winfield High School Marching Band has been part of Putnam’s county-wide homecoming festivities for many many years.

Putnam County Homecoming began in 1929 with a community ox roast which quickly expanded to include a parade and the selection of Miss Putnam County. The parade and selection of Miss Putnam County continue to be highlights of the observance.

Attendees on Saturday were treated to the music of One Foot, Branson Tolliver, Amos Steel, and the Weekend Warriors. Sunday brought the Martin Luther King Chorus to Winfield.

The 2025 homecoming culminated with the selection of and crowning of Miss Putnam County. Sarah Landers, representing Buffalo High School, was named Miss Putnam County 2025.
