Aim High Canines Stunt Dog Show delighted audiences at the Pumpkin Festival with acrobatic tricks.
This year marked the 40th anniversary of the West Virginia Pumpkin Festival. The annual event which was held October 2 through 5 at Pumpkin Park, is easily Milton’s largest. The celebration of all things pumpkin drew an estimated 44,000 people from all over the country and beyond.
The Pumpkin Festival offers a plethora of squash for purchase; pumpkin themed foods; highly talented artisans and crafters; carnival food vendors; live music from local bands; a living history encampment featuring reenactors depicting the nation’s past; apple butter making and corn roasting; a petting zoo; and a festive atmosphere.
Winners of the big pumpkin contest were First Place – Brandon McClung of Ona, 718 lbs.; Second Place – Ronnie Midkiff of Beaver, 590 lbs.; Third Place – Wilburn Thompson of Fort Gay, 558 lbs.; Fourth Place – Abigail Shilt of Mason, 380 lbs.; Fifth Place – Samantha Merritt of Fort Gay, 258 lbs.; Sixth Place – Logan Allen of Culloden, 186 lbs.; Seventh Place – Victor Lawrence of Winfield, 170 lbs.; Eighth Place – Dave Allen of Culloden, 168 lbs.; Ninth Place – Makala Elmore of Clendenin, 122 lbs.; Ten Place – Michelle Linville of Milton, 92 lbs.; Tabitha Linville of Milton, 86 lbs.; Russell Gray of Lesage, 80 lbs.; Mathew Courts of Milton, 70 lbs.; Justin Conner of Milton, 70 lbs.
