A Rare November Snow

The covering of snow at the entrance to Bridge Park in this 9 a.m. photo increased during Monday evening and nighttime hours.

November snows of an inch or more in Putnam County are uncommon. Slightly more than three inches of the white stuff fell between midnight Sunday and midnight Monday with one inch coming early, followed by two additional inches late. The most recent November snow of one inch or more at the Breeze weather station on November 26, 2013.

The snow did not close schools but it did prompt Putnam County 911 to issue a 6:14 p.m. traffic alert warning motorists of conditions on the Winfield bridge and congested traffic on State Route 817. Putnam 911 issued a second advisory at 10:30 p.m. notifying motorists that all northbound lanes of US 35 at Mile Marker 10 (Five and Twenty Mile Creek Road) were shut down due to a motor vehicle accident.
