Community Calendar for Week of November 27

NOVEMBER 27

  • The Bancroft Thanksgiving Parade will start at 11 a.m. at the Bancroft baseball field (corner of 3rd and Jefferson) and go throughout the town.
  • There will be a volunteer day at Putnam County Animal Shelter, 12908 Charleston Road, Red House, from 7 to 11 a.m.
  • Creekside Church, 488 Charley’s Creek Road, Culloden, will be holding a Thanksgiving dinner from 1 to 4 p.m. Everyone welcome.

NOVEMBER 28 – JANUARY 3

  • There will be a walk through light display chronicling the birth and life of Jesus from 6 to 11 p.m. at Winfield United Methodist Church, 20 Radwin Drive, Winfield.

NOVEMBER 28 – 29

  • Hannah’s Pottery, 6 Thoroughbred Road, Scott Depot, will be holding an open house from noon to 3 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

  • The Tri-County YMCA in Scott Depot will be holding Wobble After You Gobble Zumba at 9:30 a.m.
  • Game Grove, located in Putnam Village Shopping Center in Teays Valley, will be holding a board game night from 6 to 10:30 p.m.
  • Tots Zone – A Weekly Playtime for ages 1-6 at Quantum Sports – will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Fridays at Quantum Sports Center, 3548 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane.
  • Three Piece Suit will be performing from 6 to 9 p.m. at Barnyard BBQ, 56 Hospital Drive, Hurricane.

  • There will be free gift wrapping at 10 a.m. at Coffee With A Twist, 101 Main Avenue, Nitro.
  • Enjoy Breakfast With the Grinch from 8 a.m. to noon at Poca High School. The cost is $10 and benefits Visual Volume Show Choir.
  • There will be a Small Business Saturday vendor event from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Area 34, 971 WV Route 34, Teays Valley.
  • There will be a Yuletide Vendor Event from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Valley Park Convention Center in Hurricane.
  • MadeBy Pottery, 2805 Main Street, Hurricane, will be observing Small Business Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

NOVEMBER 30

  • Jungle Club Resort Party, Playplace & Childcare, 11624 Winfield Road, Unit 4, • Winfield, will be hosting a playdate with Santa and Mrs. Claus for ages 6 and under from 10 a.m. to 4p.m. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at www.jungleclubresortwv.com

  • Rodney Barbour will be playing a holiday concert on the Harah Symphonic Organ at 3 p.m. at Forrest Burdette Memorial United Methodist Church, 2848 Putnam Avenue, Hurricane.
  • Hurricane First Church of God, 3225 East Putnam Ave, Hurricane, will be holding their Fifth Sunday Evening Gospel Sing at 6 p.m.

TUESDAYS IN DECEMBER

  • Winfield United Methodist Church, 20 Radwin Drive, will be providing soup to go for those individuals affected by discontinuation of government food assistance from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays.

DECEMBER 2

  • There are free line dance classes every Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Brookse’s Bar and Grill, 13184 Winfield Road, Winfield.
  • The Putnam County Chamber of Commerce Network of Women will be holding a trivia night at Area 34, 971 State Route 34, Hurricane, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Bring an appetizer to share; the cost is $10 to play.

DECEMBER 3

  • Red House Bible Church, 51 Warner Lane, Red House, will be holding a live nativity from 6 to 8 p.m.
  • Local author Laura Shipston Whittington will be discussing her book “Moonwater” at the Eleanor Library from 3 – 4 p.m.
  • Wrap your gifts in privacy at the Eleanor Library during regular business hours, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The library will provide paper, ribbon scissors, and other supplies.

DECEMBER 4 – 23

  • The West Virginia Farm Museum, 1458 Fairground Road, Point Pleasant, will be holding the holiday light show drive through from 6 to 9 p.m. nightly.

DECEMBER 5 – 6

  • The Nativity Ballet will be performing The Nativity at 7 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. on Saturday at Bridge Church, 6496 Teays Valley Rd., Scott Depot. Admission is one canned good/non-perishable food item per person.
  • Word of Light Community Church will be holding an outdoor live nativity from 6:30 to 9 p.m. each night at Valley Park in Hurricane.

DECEMBER 5

  • A Route 62 Christmas – a performance featuring the BHS Choir and combined Buffalo High and Poca High concert bands – will be held at Buffalo High School. Doors open at 6 p.m. and concert starts at 6:30.

  • Teays Valley Church of God, Connection Point, Scott Depot, will be presenting The Guiding Star, a Christmas play by Cheryl Harrison, from 7 to 9 p.m.
