Community Calendar for Week of December 4

NOW – JANUARY 3

  • There will be a walk through light display chronicling the birth and life of Jesus from 6 to 11 p.m. at Winfield United Methodist Church, 20 Radwin Drive, Winfield.

TUESDAYS IN DECEMBER

  • Winfield United Methodist Church, 20 Radwin Drive, will be providing soup to go for those individuals affected by discontinuation of government food assistance from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays.

DECEMBER 4-23

  • The West Virginia Farm Museum, 1458 Fairground Road, Point Pleasant, will be holding the holiday light show drive through from 6 to 9 p.m. nightly.

DECEMBER 5-7; 12-14; 19-21

DECEMBER 5 – 6

  • The Nativity Ballet will be performing The Nativity at 7 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. on Saturday at Bridge Church, 6496 Teays Valley Rd., Scott Depot. Admission is one canned good/non-perishable food item per person.
  • Word of Light Community Church will be holding an outdoor live nativity from 6:30 to 9 p.m. each night at Valley Park in Hurricane.

DECEMBER 5

  • A Route 62 Christmas – a performance featuring the BHS Choir and combined Buffalo High and Poca High concert bands – will be held at Buffalo High School. Doors open at 6 p.m. and concert starts at 6:30.

  • Teays Valley Church of God, Connection Point, Scott Depot, will be presenting The Guiding Star, a Christmas play by Cheryl Harrison, from 7 to 9 p.m.
  • Optimum, 168 Great Teays Blvd., Scott Depot, will be hosting Business Before Business from 7:30 to 9 a.m. RSVP by calling the Chamber of Commerce at 304-757-6510.
  • There will be an open house at Wexford Village at Devonshire in Scott Depot from 4 to 7 p.m.
  • Light Up Valley Park with a Christmas tree lighting, singing, food trucks, carriage rides, Santa Claus, and more, from 6 to 9 p.m.

DECEMBER 6 – 7

  • Open Door Bible Church, 6711 WV State Route 34 S, Culloden, will be presenting It All Happened in the Country: A Children’s Christmas Musical on Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 11 a.m.

DECEMBER 6

  • Fairview Church, located at 5012 Pebble Drive, Cross Lanes, will be having Breakfast with Santa at 8 a.m.
  • The 26th Annual St. Albans/Nitro Boat Parade will be held at 6:30 p.m. on the Kanawha River.
  • The Nitro Christmas Parade will start at 6 p.m.
  • Buffalo Tuba Christmas 2025, a concert showcasing local tuba and euphonium players, will start at 2 p.m. at the Buffalo High School.
  • Buffalo Methodist Church, located at 27 High Street, Buffalo, in The Historic Square, will have their annual Christmas Bazaar starting at 10 a.m.
  • There will be holiday wreath workshops at Gritt’s Midway Greenhouse in Buffalo at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. To register, go to https://www.ticketleap.events/events/grittsmidwaygreenhouse
  • Dress in pajamas and have breakfast with Santa, Mrs. Claus, and nine of their favorite elves from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Eleanor Fire Department. Tickets are $10.
  • Santa Claus will be coming to the Bancroft Park at 6 p.m.
  • Creek Cabin Antiques, 1182 Bills Creek Road, Winfield, will be holding an open house from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

  • There will be a tire and electronics collection event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Payne’s Produce in Winfield.
  • Creekside Church, 488 Charley’s Creek Road, Culloden, will be hosting An Evening With Santa from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Enjoy dinner, crafts, games, hayrides, stories, and more.

  • Hurricane Fire and Rescue will be holding their annual boot drive from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. near the Sheetz in Hurricane.

  • There will be a blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m. at Winfield Church of the Nazarene, 10822 Winfield Road, from 1 to 6 p.m. Make an appointment by going to redcrossblood.org and entering “wcotn.”
  • There will be a mobile food pantry at the Hometown Senior Center, 40 First Avenue North, Hometown, from 11 a.m. to noon.

DECEMBER 9

  • Putnam County Family Support Center will be hosting a fun family friendly community event from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Eleanor Fire Department, downstairs room. Hot chocolate, cookie and ornament decorating, and pictures with Santa.
  • Kathy Rittenhouse of Rittenhouse Accounting Services will be discussing how the One Big Beautiful Bill’s Individual and Business Provisions will affect people and their businesses. This event takes place at noon at Area 34, 971 WV Route 34, Hurricane.
  • There will be a ribbon cutting at the new Putnam County Bank location at 3945 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane, at 11 a.m.
  • Come to FamilyCare Health Centers, 97 Great Teays Blvd., Ste 6, Scott Depot, for Cover WV Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Learn more about signing up for affordable health coverage.
  • The Hurricane Civic Chorus Christmas Concert will be held at 7 p.m. at Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church, 2848 Putnam Avenue, Hurricane.

  • Zoology Zone Science Center, located at Valley Park in Hurricane, will be holding Christmas at the Zoo from 5 to 6:30 p.m. featuring music and art students from Bridget’s Dance Academy.
