PAULA JEAN BALLENGEE
Paula Jean Ballengee, 64, of Eleanor, gained her angel wings on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at CAMC Memorial after a short illness. Paula was a 1979 graduate of Buffalo High School and was employed for 23 years at Parkline, Inc. in Eleanor in the Engineering Department.
Paula loved her family and friends deeply. She enjoyed family gatherings and going out with friends, including her trips to the Amish country with Brenda McDavid.
Born on September 7, 1961, she was the daughter of the late Hillis and Dorothy (Lyons) Riddle. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Miranda Kay Ballengee and her brother-in-law, Danny Rodman.
She is survived by her sister, Vanessa (John) Higginbotham of Eleanor and her twin, Carla Rodman of Eleanor. She is also survived by her niece, Tia (Joe) Craig of Buffalo, her nephew, Nathaniel (Lola) Arthur of Crestview, Florida, her great niece, Kaylyn Craig and great nephew, Joseph Craig, whom she loved as her own children and grandchildren.
In addition, she is survived by a niece Leandra (Alex) Diedrich of St. Albans; great nieces and nephews: Kristina Davis, Brittany Davis, Stacy Davis, Tracey Davis, John Davis, Jr., Alisa Winters, Chazz Grady, Lillian Grady, Osiris Diedrich, Forbin Diedrich, Vida Diedrich, and Millie Diedrich; 12 great great nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral service was Monday, December 1, 2025, at Raynes Funeral Home, Eleanor, with Pastor Jeff Pitchford officiating. Burial was in Haven of Rest Memory Gardens, Red House.

SHAUN CLINE
Christopher Shaun Cline, 44, of Poca, formerly of Columbus, OH, passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2025.
Shaun was born in Huntington and spent most of his life in Columbus, OH. He was a talented Drywall Finisher, proudly carrying on a family tradition and earning a reputation for his skill and dedication to his craft. Shaun had a deep love for music and touched countless lives through the songs he would sing, play and share. He was exceptionally athletic in his youth, enjoying both basketball and karate, and later in life found joy in playing the guitar. Adventurous at heart and grounded in his Christian faith, Shaun embraced life with passion and purpose.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Diana Cline; grandmother, Doris Cline; and grandfather, Paul Cline.
Left to cherish his memory are his five children, Aubrey, Caleb, Dakoda, Aylin, and Aniyah; his father, Jimmie (Teresa) Cline; brothers, Nick (Leslie) Cline and Ben Cline; his companion, Casey Cox; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss him dearly.
A celebration of life service will be announced at a later date.

CHARLES EDWARD FERRELL
Charles Edward Ferrell, 87, of Winfield, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025.
Charles was born on March 1, 1938 to the late Elzie Walter and Martha McCallister Ferrell in Plus, WV, which is now known as Rand. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Judy; son, Gary Ferrell; step-mother, Mary Saunders Ferrell; brothers: Willard, Norman, Walter, Garland Ferrell, Lacy and Wayne Saunders; sisters: Virginia Pinson and Goldia Raines.
He was a graduate of Dupont High School and he proudly served his country in the US Navy. He retired from CF Trucking as a truck driver and was a member of Local Teamsters #175. Charles was also a member of Kanawha Number 20 Masonic Lodge A.F & A.M. and a member of Beni Kedem Shriners, as well as Valley of Charleston Scottish Rite.
He is survived by his sons: Mark (Pam) of Winfield and Charles (Cathy) of Copley, Ohio; sister, Ruth Cogen; grandchildren: Mark Allen, Kila, Lisa, Josh, Vicky and Jeff; siblings: Johnny Ferrell, Glen Ferrell and Gay Bono; as well as several great grandchildren and a host of extended family.
Funeral service for Charles was Monday, December 1, 2025, at Chapman Funeral Home, Winfield, with Pastor Andrew Gordon officiating. Burial was in Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery with Military Honors and Masonic Rites.

CHARLES ‘BUD’ HIGGINBOTHAM
Charles Phillip “Bud” Higginbotham, 71, of Scott Depot, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 23, 2025.
Bud was a 1973 graduate of Nitro High School and retired from Dow Chemical in South Charleston. He loved the Lord with all his heart and found joy in cheering on WVU Mountaineer sports, listening to 70’s music, and taking memorable trips to Disney. Above all, Bud was devoted to his wife and family—his greatest earthly treasures.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Anna Higginbotham.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 50 years, Diane Roe Higginbotham; son, Michael Higginbotham; granddaughter, Adeline Higginbotham; sisters, Becky (David) Simmons and Patricia (Buzzy) Kail; father-in-law, Jack Roe; and brother-in-law, Jeff Roe. Bud will also be missed by extended family and friends whose lives were brightened by his kindness and steady faith.
A tribute to Bud’s life was held Friday, November 28, 2025, at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.

LEONARD MORRISON
Leonard Dow Morrison, of Hurricane, passed away peacefully at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington. He recently celebrated his 90th birthday surrounded by family and friends.
Leonard was born in Loga, in 1935 to Luther and Mildred Chambers Morrison who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by former wife Nancy Morrison, sisters Renatha Woodard and Dorothy Rodriguez, brothers Marvin, Grady, Lewis, and Bobby. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Emma Lee Erwin Morrison, son Gregory (Melissa) of Luray, VA, daughters Kimberli Erwin Matteson (Dr. Tom) of Luray, VA, Kristi Erwin Dunlap (Tim) of Huntington, WV, grandchildren Dr. Logan Morrison (Abigail) and Alison Morrison of Luray, VA, Liam Matteson of Luray, VA, Megan Keplinger (Jed) of Harrisonburg, VA, and Reese Dunlap of Huntington, great granddaughter Lauren Keplinger of Harrisonburg, VA, sisters-in-law Marilyn Morrison of Milton, and Jerrie Hussell of Charleston, and many nieces and nephews.
Leonard was a graduate of Logan High School, where he played football, basketball, and baseball. He attended Arlington College in Riverside, California, where he sang Tenor in a quartet and played basketball. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Riverside. During his time in Springfield, Missouri, he was employed by Empire Gas. He eventually made his way back to West Virginia where he was employed as an account executive for Interstate Supply. He coached Little League Baseball in Milton with a dear friend of over 50 years, Don Steele. Leonard was a faithful Marshall fan for all sports. He loved cheering on the HERD at home and away games. On occasion he made trips to cheer on the Mountaineers in Morgantown and various bowl games. He was a charter member of The Church in the Valley in Milton, where he served as a trustee and member of the choir for 30 years. Leonard enjoyed tailgating, grilling, hosting cook outs and pool parties, making chili and taking care of his pool and lawn. He had a very special love for his grandchildren. He loved to travel and took many school trips with his wife (Spanish teacher) to many countries. He also took several mission trips to the Dominican Republic where he painted and did repairs for many churches and schools.
The family will receive friends at the Allen Funeral Home in Hurricane from 6-8 pm, Thursday, December 4th. A celebration of life will be held on December 5th at The Church in The Valley at 2pm. Visitation one hour before the service. Burial will follow in Valley View Memorial Park.

ROGER SHARPS
Carl Roger Sharps, 83, of Eleanor, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2025 at his home following a brief illness. He was an executive at the Hecks corporation for several years. Roger worked for many years in the timber and gas industry. He was the owner / operator of Lone Tree and was a founding member of Mercer Minerals. He was a proud U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of Kanawha Valley Lodge No. 36 A.F & A.M. in Buffalo. He loved hunting, fishing, cooking and working crossword puzzles. He was very knowledgeable about fishing in the local streams and waterways. Roger was an avid Democrat and never hesitated to express his deep dislike of Trump and his administration.
He was born in Sistersville to the late Carl Ruell Sharps and Margaret Louise Sharps. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Rema Taylor Sharps and granddaughter, Angela Sharps.
Survivors include his children; Eddie (Susan) Sharps of Cross Lanes, Brian (Lorie) Sharps of Eleanor, Shawna (John) Hall of Huntington, Cathy (Shawn) Herdman of Eleanor, sister, Pamela (John) Porfeli of Charleston; brother, Donald (Joni) Sharps of Houston TX; grandchildren, Joshua (Candice) Sharps, Jonathan (Whitney) Meade, Jarrod Meade (Jonathan Bisceglia), Jordan Sharps(Sydney Sims), Matthew Herdman, Natalie (Dakota) Stebler, Lilly Herdman, Erin Shamblen (Mike Kuehn), Olivia Shamblen, Lindsey (Kevin) Totten, Kaitlyn Haber and Michael Haber; nieces, Julie Sharps, Dina Sharps, Dara Lao, Kelly Fletcher and Erin Porfeli. Roger is also survived by eleven great grandchildren and his dog, “Lil Chig.”
Memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, December 5th, 2025, at Raynes Funeral Home, Eleanor. Inurnment will follow in Haven of Rest Memory Gardens, Red House. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

MARY SMITH
On November 26, 2025 after a few ER visits and a hospital stay Mary Frances Setliff Smith, 86, went home. She leaves behind her husband of 35 years, Gary Smith, Her children Randall Adkins of Huntington, Wanda Thomasson of Winfield and Jarrett Adkins of Hurricane, 3 step sons Doug, Greg, and Brian Smith of Culloden, 2 sisters Eunice (Jim) Flinner of St. Albans and Barbara Plumley of Hurricane. She will be deaply missed by all that knew her.
Funeral service will be 1:00 Monday, December 8, 2025 at Allen Funeral Home and burial will follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 til 1 prior to the service.

SHIRLEY GLEN SNODGRASS
Shirley Glen Snodgrass, 82, of Hurricane, passed away on November 27, 2025, at the home of his daughter.
He was born to the late Creston Hubert Snodgrass and Lillian Elnore Buzzard Fox on November 29, 1942, in Hazel Green, (Ritchie County). In addition to his parents, he was preceded recently in death by his loving wife, Linda Lou Snodgrass; daughter, Angela Shuman; and his sister: Pam Roberts.
Shirley retired from Cytec after 38 years of service as Superintendent. He was a Christian. After retirement Shirley loved to hunt and fish, and was a member of the American Legion. Having proudly served our country with the U.S. Air Force in the Military Police.
Shirley is survived by his children: Andrea Wagner (Reg) of Hurricane, Matthew Snodgrass (Becki) of Parkersburg, and Holly Clagg (Mike) of Hurricane; grandchildren: Andrew Wagner (Vanessa) of Hurricane, Tiffany Livingston (Doug) of Seminole, FL, Clark Wagner of Hurricane, Jenna Snodgrass of Columbus OH, Creston Snodgrass (Maddie) of Sistersville, Isaac Snodgrass (Mahayla) of St. Marys, Jacob Shuman of Seminole, FL, Samuel and Brody Clagg of Hurricane; great-grandchildren: Lizzy and Abe Wagner of Hurricane, and Evren Snodgrass of Sistersville; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
There will be no services per Shirley’s request.
