Community Calendar for Week of January 1

NOW – JANUARY 3

  • There will be a walk through light display chronicling the birth and life of Jesus from 6 to 11 p.m. at Winfield United Methodist Church, 20 Radwin Drive, Winfield.

JANUARY 2

  • Create a NASA galaxy pinwheel at the Poca Library during business hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

JANUARY 3

  • The Charleston Association of the Deaf New Year’s Party will be held at 11 a.m. at the West Sattes Community Center, 234 Lee Avenue, Valentine Circle, Nitro. Admission is $25 for adults, $5 for ages 13-17, and free for ages 12 and under.
  • There will be a monthly tire collection event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. beside Payne’s Produce in Winfield.

Hurricane’s Red Hot and Heat Wave Show Choirs will be hosting a cabaret-style dinner and two amazing shows. Show times are Jan. 9 at 6:30 p.m.; Jan. 10 at noon and 6:30 p.m.; or Jan. 11 at 1 p.m. Reservations are $25 for adults; $15 Children 10 and under. Price at the door is $30 Adults; $20 children.   • There will be a foam dance party for children ages 7-14 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Foam Garage, 2716 Putnam Avenue, Hurricane.
  • There will be New Years Lofi Rinse and Reset Yoga at 6:30 p.m. at River Ridge Church, 1 Saturn Way, Hurricane.
    JANUARY 10
  • Murder and Merriment will be presenting a Roaring 1920’s themed murder mystery dinner at 7 p.m. at EZ Street, 2796 Winfield Road, St. Albans. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $35. For more information, call (304) 204-2455.
  • A book club will be meeting at 11 a.m. at Coffee With A Twist, 101 Main Avenue, Nitro.
  • Southern Gospel group Inheritance will be performing from 6 to 9 p.m. at Bancroft Mission, 5936 Charleston Road, Bancroft.
  • The Band Wagon will be performing at Barnyard BBQ, Hospital Drive, Hurricane, from 6 to 8 p.m.

  • Teays Valley Baptist Church, 3926 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane, will be hosting a winter revival. Hours are 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Jan. 11; and 7 p.m. on Jan. 12 – 15.

JANUARY 12

  • There will be a genealogy meet-up at 4 p.m. at the Putnam County Main Library in Teays Valley.

JANUARY 13
