SATURDAYS THROUGH MARCH

  • There will be a free open gym for 1st – 5th graders every Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. at Zone Out Sports, Morris Court, Hurricane.

JANUARY 29
The Town of Eleanor is hosting a history chat from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Homestead Room at the Eleanor Town Hall.

JANUARY 30

  • There will be a homeschool science class at 10 a.m. at the Putnam County Main Library in Teays Valley. Meet and greet with Putnam County’s Litter Control Officer Micha Casto.
  • The Putnam Chamber Annual Dinner Meeting and Celebration will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at Valley Park Conference Center in Hurricane. Tickets are $150; to RSVP, call (304) 757-6510.

JANUARY 31

  • There will be a free clothing giveaway from 9 a.m. – noon at Washington Street Church of Christ in St. Albans.
  • Sugar Shenanigans will be celebrating a grand opening at their new location, 14 Bank Street, Nitro, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • The Macholah Ballet, 6422 Teays Valley Road, Scott Depot, will be hosting a Mac Market fundraiser from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Closet clean out, baked goods, housewares, craft items.
  • Zoology Zone Science Center, located at Valley Park in Hurricane, will be holding a January Giants special event from 10 a.m. to noon. Meet some of the zoo’s larges animals.

  • There are free line dancing classes at 7:30 p.m. every Tuesday at Brookse’s Bar and Grill, 13184 Winfield Road, Winfield.
  • Teays Valley Christian School, 7062 Teays Valley Road, Scott Depot, will be holding a Pre-K and Kindergarten Open House. Times are Pre-K at 9 a.m.; Kindergarten at 1 p.m.; and both from 5 to 7 p.m.

  • There will be a tire and electronic collection at 9 a.m. at Paynes Porduce in Winfield.
  • The Meeks Mountain Trails Hurricane Crush Run will start at 9 a.m. at Meeks Mountain Trails, located at the Hurricane City Park.

FEBRUARY 8

  • The Putnam County Fair will be hosting Super Bowl Sunday pre-game lunch from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Eleanor Fire Department. Lunch is $7.

FEBRUARY 9

  • The WV Attorney General’s Office will be at the Putnam County Main Library at 10:30 a.m. to discuss scams and how to avoid them.
  • The Putnam Young Professionals will be hosting Off the Clock Evening Networking from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Fireside Grille in Teays Valley.
