Community Calendar for Week of March 26

SATURDAYS THROUGH MARCH

  • There will be a free open gym for 1st – 5th graders every Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. at Zone Out Sports, Morris Court, Hurricane.

MARCH 26

  • The Town of Eleanor will be holding a monthly history chat at 6 p.m. at the Homestead Room in the Eleanor Town Hall.
  • The Putnam County Fair Board will be meeting at 7 p.m. at the Eleanor Volunteer Fire Department, upstairs room.
  • Business After Hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at CAMC Outpatient Center, 3948 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane. To RSVP, call 304-757-6510.
  • There will be a homeschool science class from 10 a.m. to noon at Hurricane City Park.
  • The March Putnam Puzzler Competition will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Valley Park Conference Center in Hurricane. The cost is $20 per team (2-4 people).

  • Coffee With A Twist, 101 Main Avenue, Nitro, will be hosting The Office Trivia Night starting at 6 p.m.
  • There is karaoke every Friday from 9 p.m. to midnight at the Putnam Moose, located in Putnam Village Shopping Center in Teays Valley. Open to the public.s
  • There will be a homeschool science class at 10 a.m. at the Putnam County Main Library in Teays Valley.

MARCH 28 – 29

  • Oakwood Homes, 1 Pickens Road, Nitro, will be holding an Easter event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Egg hunt kicks off at 12:30 sharp.
  • Coffee With A Twist, 101 Main Avenue, Nitro, will be hosting an Easter Bunny Brunch starting at 10 a.m.
  • Shugar Shenanigans, 14 Bank Street, Nitro, will be visited by the Easter Bunny from 1 to 4 p.m.
  • Mount Union Church, 19268 Jerry’s Run Road, Pliny, will be holding their annual pancake breakfast and Easter egg hunt starting at 9 a.m.
  • Fraziers Bottom Church of God, 19064 Winfield Road, Fraziers Bottom, will be holding an Easter egg hunt starting at 10 a.m.
  • Enjoy brunch with the Easter Bunny from 9 to 11 a.m. and an Easter egg hunt at 11 a.m. at the Poca River Hunting, Fishing, and Recreation Club, 789 Dupont Road, Poca. The cost for the brunch is $7.
  • RIPPIN River Run in memory of Paul Withrow will start at 11 a.m. at Brookse’s Bar and Grill,13184 Winfield Road, Winfield. The cost is $25.
  • Teays Valley Church of God, 185 Connection Point, Scott Depot, will be holding their annual Easter Eggstravaganza from 2 to 4 p.m.
  • Historian Dr. Philip Hatfield will host a tour of the Civil War battlefield areas at Hurricane Bridge City Park. The tour begins at 11:00 a.m. Meet in the parking lot at the new city park on Midland Trail.
  • The United Methodist Women of Forrest Burdette Memorial United Methodist Church at 2848 Putnam Avenue, Hurricane will be hosting their annual Spring Festival from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

MARCH 29 AND APRIL 3

  • The Nitro Church of the Nazarene, 1400 Sattes Circle, will be hosting The Streets of Jerusalem Easter Drama at 6 p.m. each day.

MARCH 29

  • The Townsmen will be performing at Faith Christian Fellowship, 54 Krystal Lane, Buffalo, at 6 p.m.
  • Lone Oak Church of God Mission, 1303 Mclane Pike, Red House, will be holding a youth night service with evangelist Alex McCormick starting at 7 p.m.
  • Cornerstone Lodge at Four Seasons Resort, 824 Hobba Drive, Buffalo, will be holding a Before the Vows Open House from noon to 3 p.m. Over 30 wedding vendors.
  • Higher Ground Singing Group will be performing at 1:30 p.m. at Providence Baptist, 172 Cedar Way, Scott Depot.
  • One Life Church, 318 Thompson Road, Culloden, will be holding their Easter egg hunt after the 10 a.m. Palm Sunday service. Ages 0-11.
  • There are free line dancing lessons every Sunday night from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Putnam Moose, located in Putnam Village Shopping Center in Teays Valley. Open to the public.
  • There will be a cornhole fundraiser for Baby Brooks Robinson starting at noon at the Putnam County Moose, located in Putnam Village Shopping Center, Teays Valley. The cost is $40 per team. Open to the public.
  • The Kentucky Mountain Bible College Choir will be performing at 10:40 a.m. at Hurricane Nazarene Church, located on Route 60.
  • The Hurricane First Church of God, 3225 East Putnam Avenue, will be holding their Fifth Sunday Evening Gospel Sing at 6 p.m.
  • First Baptist Church of Hurricane will be presenting their Easter cantata, “I Believe,” at 8:50 a.m. and 3 p.m.

MARCH 30

  • Paul Boggess will be at Buffalo Methodist Church at 7 p.m.

MARCH 31

  • Red House Bible Church, 51 Warner Lane, Red House, will be hosting Journey to the Cross – A Drive Through Easter – at 6:30 p.m. each evening.

  • The Vandalia Backgammon Club holds weekly backgammon sessions from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays at the Putnam Moose, located in Putnam Village Shopping Center in Teays Valley. Open to the public.

  • There will be a Cross Walk Through Buffalo starting at 6 p.m. at the gazebo. Hot dogs and fellowship at the Buffalo Church of God.
  • The Girls’ Night Out Comedy Show will be at 7 and 9 p.m. at The Garage, 3057 Mount Vernon Road, Scott Depot. Tickets are $25 at the door.
