Community Calendar for Week of April 9

APRIL 10 – 11

  • There will be a spring vendor fair to support Putnam County 4-H from noon to 5 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday at the Eleanor Fire Department.

APRIL 10

  • There will be a Jesus And Music (JAM) Session at 6:30 p.m. at Oma Chapel Church, 949 Arbuckle Creek Road, Leon. Come out for an evening of unscripted music.
  • The Nitro Antique Car Club will be holding a cruise-in from 5 to 8 p.m. in front of the Nitro City Hall and Living Memorial Park, 2009 20th Street, Nitro.
  • The next Business Before Business will be held from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at Poca Valley Bank, 12737 Winfield Road, Winfield. To RSVP, call 304-757-6510.

  • There will be a spring craft show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Greene Center, 10494 Charleston Road, Kenna.
  • Roots to Bloom, 2777 Charleston Road, Poca, will be holding their grand opening from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Floral gifts, jewelry, seasonal decor, apparel, and more.
  • Harmons Church of the Nazarene, 360 Harmons Creek Road, Poca, will be holding Spring Awakening Gospel Sing with The Lordsmen and Chasity Dye starting at noon.
  • Harmons Church of the Nazarene, 360 Harmons Creek Road, Poca, will be hosting a Harmons Creek and Poca River clean-up. Meet up t the church parking lot at 10 a.m.
  • The Thrifty Rose thrift shop, 404-B Midland Trail, Hurricane, will be celebrating their grand opening from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The wood chipper will be operating every second Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Putnam Recycling Drop Site located on Midland Trail in Hurricane.
  • The Hurricane First Church of God, 3225 East Putnam Avenue, will be holding their springtime church-wide yard sale beginning at 8 a.m. and continuing until about 1 p.m.

  • Putnam Aging will be hosting a Meet the Candidates Event from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Buffalo Senior Center.

APRIL 14

  • The Town of Eleanor will be holding a puzzle competition from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Eleanor Fire Department, upstairs room. Teams of 2-4 people; $20 per team. To register, call 304-586-2319.
  • There will be a planning committee meeting for the Putnam County Homecoming at 6:30 p.m. at Winfield United Methodist Church, 20 Radwin Drive, Winfield. All are welcome to attend.
  • Brett from Burke & Herbert Bank will be discussing the FHLB Loan for first time home buyers, in-house portfolio loans, and other conventional programs at noon at Area 34, 971 WV Route 34, Teays Valley. RSVP by calling (304) 757-6510.

  • Scrapbook Swap Meet and Club will be held at 6 p.m. at the Valley Park Conference Center in Hurricane. Bring your own supplies to use and/or swap with others.
  • There will be a sensory friendly meet and greet with first responders at 6 p.m. at the Hurricane Fire Department on Midland Trail.
