Community Calendar for Week of April 23

APRIL 23

  • There will be a grief support group at 10 a.m. at Coffee With A Twist, 101 Main Avenue, Nitro.
  • There will be an open house on-site hiring event for Diamond Electric, 62 Eleanor Industrial Park, Eleanor, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • The April Putnam Puzzler puzzle competition will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at Valley Park Conference Center in Hurricane. The cost is $20 for a team of 2-4. For more information, call (304) 562-0518.

APRIL 24

  • There will be bingo at 6 p.m. at Coffee With A Twist, 101 Main Avenue, Nitro.
  • There will be a citizen’s planning meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the Buffalo city council building concerning the Google data center which is planned for Buffalo. The meeting location is 153 Franklin Street.
  • The Putnam County Moose, located in Putnam Village Shopping Center in Teays Valley, offers karoke and dance music every Friday from 8 p.m. to midnight.
  • Putnam County Solid Waste Authority will be holding a homeschool science class from 10 a.m. to noon at Hurricane City Park.
  • There will be a book signing with children’s author Diana Phisner Walker from 4 to 6 p.m. at Parties and Peonies, 207 Midland Trail, Hurricane.

APRIL 25

  • Coffee With A Twist, 101 Main Avenue, Nitro, will be holding a spring vendor fair starting at 10 a.m.
  • There will be a town hall meeting on the Buffalo data center at noon at the Buffalo High School.
  • Dot Nutrition, 2843 Charleston Rd Suite 1, Poca, will be holding Customer Appreciation Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Putnam County Solid Waste Authority is hosting a confidential shredding day from 9 a.m. to noon at Teays Valley Church of the Nazarene, 3941 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane.

APRIL 26

  • Higher Ground Singing Group will be performing at 7 p.m. at Lone Oak Church of God Mission, 1303 Mclane Pike, Red House.
  • The Upper Vandalia Historical Society will be meeting at 2 p.m. at the Historical Square Community Church, 20058 Buffalo Road, Buffalo. Topic is the first fire truck in Buffalo.
  • The Putnam County Moose, located in Putnam Village Shopping Center in Teays Valley, offers line dancing every Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m.
  • St. Timothy’s in the Valley Episcopal Church, Cross of Grace Lutheran Church, and St. Andrew United Methodist Church will be hosting Blessing of the Animals at 2 p.m. at the large shelter at Valley Park in Hurricane.

APRIL 27

  • Teays Valley Christian School and Lady Lions Basketball will be offering a free public gym from 5 to 7 p.m. for female basketball players in grades 3-6.

APRIL 28

  • There will be a scrapbooking club and swap event from 6 to 8 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane.

  • Putnam Aging will be hosting a Meet the Candidates Event from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Hometown Senior Center.

MAY 1 – 2

  • The 2026 Winfield Baptist Church Annual Yard Sale will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. The church is located at 12902 Winfield Road.

MAY 1

  • There will be a plant and seed swap from 9 a.m. to noon at the Poca Library.

  • Winfield United Methodist Church, 20 Radwin Drive, will be holding a community vendor and rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • There will be a community shredding day from 9 a.m. to noon at Payne’s Produce in Winfield.
  • There will be a tire collection day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Payne’s Produce in Winfield.
