Community Calendar for Week of April 30

APRIL 30

  • There will be a grief support group at 10 a.m. at Coffee With A Twist, 101 Main Avenue, Nitro.

MAY 1 – 3

  • The 3rd Annual Harmony House Renaissance Faire will be held at Harris Riverfront Park in Huntington. Tickets are $20 for adults, and $10 for children 3-10.

MAY 1 – 2

  • The 2026 Winfield Baptist Church Annual Yard Sale will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. The church is located at 12902 Winfield Road.

  • There will be a plant and seed swap from 9 a.m. to noon at the Poca Library.

  • The Spring Pumpkin Festival will be held at Pumpkin Park in Milton from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.

MAY 2

  • Mount Union Church, 19268 Jerry’s Run Road, Pliny, will be holding a ladies tea party at noon.
  • The Nitro Church of the Nazarene, 1400 Sattes Circle, will be holding a vendor craft fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Winfield United Methodist Church, 20 Radwin Drive, will be holding a community vendor and rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • There will be a community shredding day from 9 a.m. to noon at Payne’s Produce in Winfield.
  • There will be a tire collection day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Payne’s Produce in Winfield.

  • Cooking With Kathy – Master Gardener Kathy Talley will be at the Putnam County Main Library in Teays Valley at 11 a.m. to discuss spring produce recipes.
  • Pinnacle Karate Center, 3544 Commerce Drive, Hurricane, will be holding a free Lil Ninja workshop for children ages 4-5 at 10 a.m.
  • Pinnacle Karate Center, 3544 Commerce Drive, Hurricane, will be hosting a free beginner karate workshop for children ages 6 and up at at 11 a.m.
  • Pinnacle Karate Center, 3544 Commerce Drive, Hurricane, will be offering a free women’s self defense and fintess class from noon to 1 p.m.
  • The Board Room, located behind the Hurricane Walmart, will be hosting Free Comic Book Day starting at 11 a.m.
  • Sonney Skies Boutique, 2741 Main Street, Hurricane, will be holding a spring festival from 1 to 5 p.m.
  • The Main Street Spring Festival will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. in Hurricane.

MAY 3

  • There will be a mountain bike ride at Ridenour Lake in Nitro. Meet up at the trailhead beside the Dynamite Bike Skills Park pump track at 2 p.m.
  • Showcats, Nitro High School Show Choir, will be holding their dinner theater at the high school. Doors open at 1 p.m.; dinner at 1:30. Tickets at door are $25.
  • The Putnam County Moose, located in Putnam Village Shopping Center in Teays Valley, offers line dancing every Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m.
  • The Wookie Wobble 5K presented by Putnam County Aging Program will start at 2 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane. The cost to register is $35 the day of race. For more information or to register in advance, go to TriStateRacer.com/2ndWookieWobble5K

  • Teays Valley Christian School and Lady Lions Basketball will be offering a free public gym from 5 to 7 p.m. for female basketball players in grades 3-6.

MAY 5

  • The Winfield Symphonic Band will be hosting a Cinco De Mayo dinner and show starting at 6 p.m. The cost is $10 per person.

MAY 6

  • Lighthouse Baptist Church, 2440 Route 60, Hurricane, will be holding a free clothing and household goods giveaway from 2 to 5 p.m.

MAY 7 – 9

  • The Eleanor Town-Wide Spring Yard Sale will be held throughout the town.

MAY 7

  • Local author Berna Darby will be discussing her children’s book, ?”Secret Fairy Forest Mice,” at 1:30 p.m. at the Eleanor Library.
  • Vandalia Backgammon Club will be holding weekly backgammon games from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Putnam Moose Lodge, located in Putnam Village Shopping Center. Open to the public.

MAY 8

  • Bridget’s Dance Academy and Wildlife & Discovery students will be holding a student art and music exhibition from 6 to 8 p.m. at Valley Park Conference Center in Hurricane.
