Community Calendar for Week of June 25

NOW – JUNE 26

  • Oma Chapel Church, 2116 Arbuckle Creek, Leon, will be holding Climb Aboard the Happy Day Express Vacation Bible School from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. each evening.
  • Elizabeth Baptist Church, 523 Washington Street, Bancroft, will be holding Jesus Is Master of All Vacation Bible School from 7 to 8:30 p.m. each evening.
  • Hometown Apostolic Church, 47 2nd Avenue S, Hometown, will be holding True North Vacation Bible School from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. each evening.
  • Freedom’s Promise Ministries, 19966 Winfield Road, Fraziers Bottom, will be holding Illumination Station Vacation Bible School from 6 to 8 p.m. nightly.
  • The Macholah Ballet, 6422 Teays Valley Road, Scott Depot, will be offering Masterpiece Dance and Art Camp for ages 6-10 from 10 a.m. to noon. The cost is $125 per student. For more information, check out the Macholah Ballet on Facebook.
  • Bethel Baptist Church, Hurricane Creek Road, Hurricane, will be holding Vacation Bible School from 6 to 8 p.m. nightly. Nursery to adult classes.

JUNE 25

  • The Night Market at Valley Park will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Local vendors and live entertainment. This month’s theme is Superheroes Night.

JUNE 26

  • Fitness Friday: Moxie Fitness instructors will be teaching a yoga class at 10 a.m. at the Putnam County Main Library in Teays Valley.
  • There is karaoke and dance music every Friday at 8 p.m. to midnight at the Putnam County Moose Lodge, located in Putnam Village Shopping Center in Teays Valley.
  • The Putnam County Solid Waste Authority will be holding a homeschool science class from 10 a.m. to noon at the red barn at Hurricane City Park.

JUNE 27

  • The Town of Eleanor will be holding a free family movie night at the George Washington School Baseball Field at dark. The movie will be “October Sky.”
  • There will be a launch party for Bean Theory Coffee, 1273 Charleston Road, Poca, from 9 a.m. to noon.
  • There will be a community car show fundraiser to support Ty Laughery and his family from noon to 5 p.m. at the Winfield Baptist Church.
  • Bent Whiskey will be performing from 8 p.m. to midnight at the Putnam County Moose Lodge, located in Putnam Village Shopping Center. Open to the public.
  • There will be a Pilates class at 10 a.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane. For more information, contact Sip & Sculpt on Facebook.
  • There will be a reverse craft show from 10 a.m. until everything is gone at Valley Park Conference Center in Hurricane. This is a yard sale for crafters.

  • Calvary Chapel, 212 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane, will be hosting Youth Encounter Week from 7 to 9 p.m. nightly.

  • Adam’s Voice will be performing at 6 p.m. at Hurricane First Church of the Nazarene, 358 US Route 60, Culloden.
  • River Cities Bully Buddies will be hosting a meet and greet and donation drive from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Tractor Supply in Hurricane.

JUNE 30

  • United Talent will be hosting an on site job fair from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Diamond Electric, 207 Eleanor Industrial Park Drive, Eleanor.
  • Books & Ballerinas: Ballet de Seuss will be held at 10 a.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane. The Macholah Ballet will be performing dances inspired by Dr. Seuss books.

  • There will be a ribbon cutting celebration at 11 a.m. for the new ConvenientCare, located at 16 Hurricane Creek Road, Hurricane.

JULY 1

  • Mini Melodies, a Kindermusik inspired event, is held at 10 a.m. every Wednesday at Coffee With A Twist, 101 Main Avenue, Nitro.
  • There will be an ultraviolet mushroom hunt with Drew Palmer at Meeks Mountain Trails at the Hurricane City Park. Meet up at 7:30 p.m. at the big red barn.

JULY 4

  • The 13th Annual Buffalo July 4th 5K Run/Walk will start at 7 a.m. at the Town Hall. Entry is $15 per person. For more information or to register, call 304-546-0763.
  • The Buffalo Welcome Center in the Buffalo Historic Square will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. At noon, the Buffalo Methodist Trumpet Quartet will be playing the National Anthem and other selections at the Buffalo Academy.
  • The Buffalo 4th of July Car Show will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Buffalo High School.
  • The Hurricane Independence Day Celebration starts with a parade at 3 p.m., and there will be activities at Hurricane Bridge Park from 4 to 10 p.m.
  • Rewind the Walkman will be performing at the Hurricane July 4th Celebration at 8:15 p.m. at Bridge Park.
