- The Nitro Women’s Club will be holding a blessing box bingo event from 6 to 8 p.m. at the clubhouse, located at 2205 2nd Avenue and 23rd Street, Nitro. Bring non-perishable food items and receive bingo cards in return.
- The Putnam County Bank will be holding a groundbreaking ceremony for their new Winfield branch at 10 a.m. at 25 Summers Street, Winfield.
- Putnam Aging will be holding their 2026 Senior Picnic – “America’s 250th: A Global Gathering” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane.

- The Nitro Antique Car Club Cruze In will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. along 2nd Avenue in front of Nitro City Hall and Living Memorial Park.
- Learn traditional Appalachian hoedown dancing at 10 a.m. at the Winfield Riding Club.
JULY 11
- There will be a beginner-friendly birding experience led by Michelle Platt and Laura Boggess at Ridenour Park in Nitro. Meet up at shelter #5 (near the dog park) at 9:00 a.m.
- There will be a watermelon crush fundraiser at 3 p.m. at Code 3 Health and Fitness, 236 Airgas Lane, Poca. The entry fee is $5 and proceeds go towards women’s heart health and the American Heart Association.
- The Poca River Hunting, Fishing & Recreation Club, 789 Dupont Road, Poca, will be holding a Family Fun Day that is open to the public. Swimming: 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.; family bingo 4-6 p.m. Fireworks at dusk. Guest admission is $6.36 per person.
- The Ty Strong Car Show to support Ty Laughery and his family will be held form noon to 5 p.m. at the Winfield Baptist Church. There is a $10 entry fee for cars and motorcycles.
- There will be bingo at Valley Park in Hurricane. Doors open at 4 p.m.; games start at 5:30 p.m.
- The wood chipper will be at the Putnam County Recycling Drop Site on Midland Trail, Hurricane, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Studio LM, 1773 US Route 60, will be celebrating their one year anniversary from 3 to 6 p.m. Local vendors, food and drinks, and more.
JULY 12
- There will be a monthly bike ride at 2 p.m. at the Ridenour Lake at Nitro. Meet up at the trailhead beside the Dynamite Bike Skills Park pump track.
- Dave Edwards, candidate for Putnam County Commission, will be holding a campaign kick-off event from 12:30 to 4 p.m. at the Bancroft Town Park, 78 Jefferson Street, Bancroft.
JULY 13 – 17
- The First Baptist Church of Nitro, 2200 2nd Avenue, Nitro, will be holding Vacation Bible School from 5 to 8:30 p.m. each evening.

- There will be a kids’ nature journaling workshop at 10 a.m. at the Eleanor Library.

- There will be a hiring event hosted by Express Employment from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Diamond Electric, 159 Eleanor Industrial Park Drive, Eleanor.
- Fitness Friday: Walk the Meeks Mountain Trails with the Putnam County Library. Meet up at the steps at the back of the Hurricane City Park at 10 a.m.
JULY 18
- Red House Area Wide Clean Up: The Putnam County Solid Waste Authority will have a truck at the Moutain State Waste location at 1647 McLane Pike, Red House, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- There will be a social get together for adults with special needs from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Kitchen Table Cards and Games, 2940 Putnam Avenue, Hurricane (across from Big Time Bins).
- There will be a multi-family yard sale fundraiser for Girl Scout Troop 10365 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the John Henson Senior Center, 2800 Putnam Avenue, Hurricane.
- Cops N Rodders Classic Car Club will be holding a cruise-in from 5 p.m. to dusk at the Putnam County Bank parking lot behind the Hurricane McDonalds.
